Ever wondered how all of the costume, wigs and make-up changes happen during a performance of Shrek the Musical??? Before she left us in June, our former Baby Bear took her sneaky Swamp-Cam with her to see a day in the life of the cast of Shrek!

Join Shrek and his loyal steed Donkey, as they set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona. Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits and a biscuit with attitude, and you've got the must see musical comedy - SHREK THE MUSICAL!

WOW! I can't believe you had that many makeup, wig, and clothing changes! Amazing work! If you are that tanlted at a quike change you much shin on stage.

I showed this to my new crop of students yesterday and they can't believe how much work goes into being part of the ensemble...now they all want to be in the ensemble and not in the leads! Great video and thanks again for posting it!

OK I've seen some pretty heavy ensemble shows but this just...hats off to you Georgina! 7 costume changes including two quick changes, along with hair, makeup, and prosthetics! I think the craziest track I've ever done myself is when I was in the Ensemble of The Wedding Singer(ensemble for the opening, Loser for Casualty of Love, Partygoer for Saturday Night in the City, Solist #1 in All About the Green(quick change), Ricky in Single(VERY quick change), and a member of the Secret Service in Grow Old With You(Quick Change)). We love having almost no guys in our High School Drama Department.

Hi Georgia, firstly this is amazing, mad props to everyone in the ensemble for the amount of costume changes. I was just wondering what the first costume was for and also why were you dressed as Fiona? Thanks!

Thank you! So glad you like the video! Such good fun for the ensemble :) The first costume the ensemble play 'happy villagers' for the opening scene (Big Bright Beautiful World). To answer your other question, I played the role of Teen Fiona which is why I am in Fiona style costume. (For the song I Know It's Today) Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching :)

How did you manage to go from a happy villager to baby bear? From what I remember there's an insanely small gap between the scenes, and you literally applied a full face of makeup and a costume. Did I miss smth?

I have a question, were there not enough people to play some the roles you were or were you just so talented that they chose you for all the roles you played? I would have loved to play all those characters but I am so happy and lucky I got casted as Suger Plum/Gingy and the colorful bird in the Morning Person song

Imagine putting on the makeup for the wrong character during a quick change for example putting on all you baby bear makeup even tho your next character is a duloc doll

Haha easily done! I did forget to change my shoes once...!! Baby Bear was wearing Jazz Shoes for 1 scene by accident... whoops!

I went on with the wrong shoes once in a production of Annie. I was the marine guard who delivered a message to FDR, but when I got backstage to change, my dress shoes were nowhere to be found. I went on stage wearing my regular (Hooverville) shoes. (After the show, I found my dress shoes across the room, under someone else's costume.)

Perspective: she plays 8 different characters (including her offstage and puppet roles) Has 5 make up changes 7 total Costume changes 7 total Hair changes Geezy creezy she must be tired just from that without the actual singing, acting, and dancing

The episodes were from the first UK Tour of Shrek, which have now been removed. Luckily I saved mine beforehand :) Video edited by my talented little sister:- ru-vid.com

Why was her in the green dress wigged, couldn’t you find a brunette actress it’s as if you pick actresses with the wrong hair to waste money on wigs

DSM Productions (official) Hi, wigs are used because these quick changes are QUICK.. it is so much faster to change a wig than it is to change hairstyle. From this video you can see that the ensemble have ALOT of different characters to portray throughout the show. Plus they look amazing on stage and will look the same for every performance. I am a brunette, but the green dress is Teen Fiona which is actually a red wig. I hope this helps.

Georgina Parkinson you can find actresses with the right hair and surely Fiona should look more ginger and you’re brunette to start with and wasting money when you’re not broadway is the reason decent ticket prices don’t exist

TipsyGamer there are awesome actresses who look correct and they get ignored, broadway has far better budgets and on a tight budget getting a actress who looks the part isn’t that ridiculous

Omg how many parts did you have? In my school's Shrek I was a Duloc citezen, Young Fiona, and a Colorful Bird in Morning Person. Btw we did the JR version.

Ah, we had the same roles! :) I hope you had as much fun as I did! :) My Ensemble track was:- Happy Villager, Baby Bear, Duloc Doll, Teen Fiona, Spoon Puppet, Bird in Morning Person, Tap Dancing Rat & Blind Mouse :)
