Saw them back in February. I noticed that Gira is a control freak, it was funny watching him get mad at Christoph Hann for flirting with some chick in the front row instead of doing what he was supposed to be doing. But who the fuck cares, he obviously knows better than anyone else what he's doing. He's the one with the vision. To my mind, he's produced a higher quantity of high quality material than just about anyone else out there. He has my respect, that's for sure.
@Johan: 100% agree (I'm Bruno Gaia under his band's disguise XD!) Watching them live was an unforgettable experience indeed! After the gig I told the man "hey, you're pure genius, I mean it" and he nodded, saying "no, no" with that smile of his. But I say it again here: "man, you ARE pure genius!"
I only just discovered Swans, but just bought tickets for their September San Fran show. I've really gotten off on these great videos posted, and have enjoyed the comments posted as well. This should be some show. I wish it was tonight....
alexx bragg One (of the many) cool things about Swans is how they alter and reinterpret their songs. That being said though, I agree with you. The Jarboe version is unimaginably intense. Coming from a woman it makes the lyrics even more disturbing. And my god, the ending with the growls...
@@paltefogt the way public castration flows into each song and how each song is slightly altered but still beats the shit outta you is why its one of my favorite albums
yeah, we know what you are, Mr. Gira, and that is a crazy sumbitch and an incredible musician (though i have a feeling the two are tied very closely together). every video i see convinces me further that i need to start selling plasma and holding up liquor stores for Swans tickets.
