Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Championship. Swansea City represents England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city.
In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season's end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club".
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

@@FruitFlyKilla Yeah - That was kind of a magical period, with A refreshing kind of football and some great personalities on the pitch. Michu of cause being one of those, and as well, it was fantastic with the league-cup win. I interviewed Laudrup once in Italy when I was 18, and he was 20 and played for Lazio, but I havent talked with him since then, but If I meet him, I'll try to kind of order him back into Swans territory. Individual errors are costly. Leaving 3 vs 2 at the back from your own attack - poor Whomever the bloke was playing offside for our 2nd was odd. Very strange decision making. Rash challenge for the penalty. We were fortunate to come away with the three points having scored three goals again. UTB!

This game shows what pace can do for a side. Ramsey and the boro forwards were great going forward, meanwhile Russ has got rid of any pace we had in the side, opting to play for the boring possession based pedestrian football.

Enough is enough. Russell Martin has to go. His tactics are not just naive, they're incredibly stupid. I think the players will breath a huge sigh of relief when he's gone so they can play under a manger who thinks that constantly playing out from the back at all costs, regardless of the consequences, is actually... a really BAD idea. You can set up a team to play good passing football without insisting on brain dead tactics to go with it. Just go.

Football is now a rolling door of managers. Yeah I get it, there are problems. But it's his second season in a club with a myriad of problems behind the scenes too. Martin is a young manager, I think it's naive to think we can do better. Especially considering that he will (hopefully) show more experience in the future

@@DeanCaruso Jesus, I can't believe that it is naive to think that 3 wins in 23 (2 vs 10 men) is not good enough? Martins done, whether he goes now or the end of the year, writing is on the wall.

I don’t think Martin is the problem, I think the squad is one of the weakest in the league defensively and that is where the issue lies. There is not 1 good defender in the entire squad, they are all a joke and need go leave. My 4y/o brother could do a better job than latishitiere and cabango the headless chicken

Martin has to go… ok who replaces him. WE CANT AFFORD ANYONE AND NOBODY IS GOING TO WANT TO COME TO US. It’s not an appealing job with a bare squad week in week out and with only 6-9 players on a contract come the end of the season.

I feel for you Swansea fans having to listen to the awful commentary week in week out! With great tactical insights such as 'hit it' when he's closer to the halfway line than the goal, and 'go on grimesy, go on son, take him on, take him on'. Unbelievable stuff! 😅
