Yeah looks like this function could still use a bit of work but I am loving the idea of it. Definitely can use the text styles to change those back and forth too though. I'm trying to figure out if theres some work around with the color variables but at the very least we can use the color styles and just associate them with the local components. Seems to be the best option for the moment but I am all ears on other work arounds and such!
Thanks! yeah that's a great idea :) Hopefully, at some point, we will be able to swap variables libraries too so you can have modes in both libraries and swap between ☀️🙏🏻💛
yes it is definitely a way to go. but this goes only to a limited amount of modes. when working with a normal plan or even enterprise plan you will only have 4 modes. 40 modes are coming with a plan for 75$ per month lol. they won't fix that you are not able to swap libraries with variables. because then you won't need the 75$ plan anymore. There are plugins though.
Another helpful video 👍 would be interested on how you would design something normally i.e. for a client, and be able to see you use the techniques you're teaching in a real scenario.
Your videos are just so so so helpful!!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge so nicely....best figma tutorial channel. Also, please make videos whenever figma releases any updates. Your videos really helps❤❤❤❤
Thanks for great tutorial! In case someone wonders, I've made a plugin called Swap Variables that helps you.... you know, swap variables between collections.
You're welcome! ooo what can't you do with it?!? It basically opens the quick action menu and you can type anything into it. I use it a lot for "select all with same..." and also to launch different plugins. You can also use it to change settings like hide the panels or change from light to dark mode. ☀️🙏🏻
Library if I were to swap from library 1 to library 2 in my design file. If I pull the component from the design system, do I have to rerun that swap again?
Swapping will swap any instances already used in the file, if you pull in new instances after the swap then you can pull them from the correct library. You can also always swap again or swap back. ☀️🙏🏻💛
Hello everyone, I'm stuck with a problem, can anyone help? :) I want to redesign the apple ios kit time picker and integrate it for weight, age and height. Just to prepare wireframe. I couldn't find a ready kit for weight and height. Does anyone have information?
Hey! you can get the time picket from the iOS library, detach it and then play around with the content inside to make it work for what you need! I hope that helps ☀️🙏🏻
Īs there a way to import certain parts of a library? Say....I only want the colours and icons....and I don't need text styles...to be imported to my new project? And I want the colours and icons to be connected to the parent library all the time, so that the changes there will be reflected in my new file as well? is there a way to do that? TIA, and love all your videos
Great question! if you only want to swap certain bits of your library then YES. When you go through the swap process there are little checkboxes where you can tick/untick what you want to swap. If you mean can you add a library to a file but for example only add components but not see the styles in the style selector then sadly no :( I know some people prefer to split the styles and components into separate library files because of this so they can add just one and not the other. ☀️🙏🏻💛
Hi TD sunshine I learning figma design I need help about someone to check my design on figma step by step pls can you help me or it's good if you have community I can post my design and practice
Yes sorry I don't think I mention this during the video but team libraries are only available using paid plans. You can check out the different plans available here - psxid.figma.com/xnd9l ☀️🙏🏻💛
