The issue is airflow for rear passengers - backseats and jumper seats. The louvres on the door windows will cause the air to flow out the window before reaching the backseat passenger. I really wish that there was a better sliding window design. Pickup canopy windows seem to not have this problem...!
Fair point although I have removed the rear bench seats now so is plenty of ventilation for second row passengers with their windows open. Plus I have the sunroof for more airflow. And the front vents. And the gap around the rear door!!
I like them. I have always wanted to do this, but at nearly Au$1100 plus shipping and the fact that I would want to do it to both Defenders makes it a bit prohibitive.

What are your thoughts on fitting series lll doors to later Defenders? All my doors have rotted and are unrepairable. They are 26yrs old and the cost of replacement defender doors are ridiculous. 4 galvanised series doors are half the price of defender doors. Benefits are more room for driver & 2nd row passengers as not window winding mechanism.
I really like the look of the Series split doors on a Defender. I had a very early Defender 110 country and it had all four split doors and look great.
