SWAT teams are training with less confrontational tactics in dealing with potentially volatile situations. Get the unique point-of-view of a member of the Kearney Police Department SWAT team as they drill techniques designed to keep themselves and suspects safer. Kinda, but flash bangs create sonic waves, so if they dont respond, they got hit. The less voices, the more effective it was.

It's more productive than entering a room without first disorienting the bad guy(s). Particularly if you don't want to take casualties and/or want to avoid killing the guy(s).

why dont they give both sides paintball guns and tell the volunteer to comply or not on his choice and act accordingly as if he were the suspect that the swat was called on, that seems more efficient to me

They use stimmunitions, basically take the real bullet out of a round, don’t load it with as much powder, replace the copper bullet with a plastic round filled with paint, and replace the bolt with a lighter one. That way you train with your duty weapon, get the same recoil, but can still do force on force.

Aviation and Doug are correct I have used 100’s of them and been shot by them many times both as the officer in training and as the suspect playing the bad guy to help train other officers.

@@CHMichael SWAT doesn't do that, that's the responsibility of dispatch or the Judge who issues the warrant. SWAT doesn't do intel work.

I just ran across this and the 360 is very useful. BTW, nice cross fire when the suspect is exiting the hallway. I wonder if the instructors caught that. I guess that's why we crawl, walk, run and have AAR's.

The old way is the best way. A foundation and culture of peace, with a careful and methodical approach focused on Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. I like it best when the Police do not oscillate or escalate. There's the field work, and then the miscarriage of Justice when an officer in the field fails to uphold the same standard of truth within the Courts. Of all the people I am both Morally and Politically disappointed in are the Judges. Within the purview of the Jurisdiction in which I hold gracious Citizenship, I can register no complaint. A community can take the greatest point of pride in an Honorable Judge.

Kearney ( Buffalo County), Nebraska Police Department and Sheriff's Office ,using the typical USMC and US Army Infantry CQB Doctrine ,for Civilian Law Enforcement SWAT doctrine. What then happens to these Cops when faced with the Bad Guys are Former SOF Operators?

This is very informative. But at the same time. it is VERY overpowered. too many back stops and too much can go seriously wrong in a SWAT raid. I can see them having 9x19 MP5s for breach teams, hostage rescue teams and using bang poles. While still keeping AR15 operators on stand by for a secondary team. Maybe old lathe and plaster homes dont have this issue. But today's MDF construction and that .223 gets going out of that barrel, and next thing you know. the other people in the other rooms are now swiss cheese.

It's not to protect him more it's to protect the squad more. He is crouched so he needs less shield to cover him and he's using the other end to protect his teammates legs.

Each man is wearing chest armor. Their legs are exposed. My guess is that him crouching down in front of the two others while holding the shield horizontally gives them extra protection, lower hit probability from incoming fire, while not obstructing his teammates field of fire.

If you smoke the place up you don't know where the furniture is, you don't know how many people are there. Best to get someone in there and recon the situation that week and get to know who's coming and going, if it's public use an excuse to walk around inside.

You first need to join the police department or sherrif department (and maybe even state troopers if they have) Then you must be an officer for 4 years in that department. Then you can do a tryout to get into the SWAT Team.

Between 1:55 and 2:00, nobody entering coveted left. As soon as first man begins to enter room, second officers weapon should be up and going left to cover that threat area.

Yeah the way they make the suspect walk backwards and get in their knees and crawl yeah I’m sure that’s gonna work perfectly in a super high stress situation with sometimes suspects who are drunk, high, don’t even speak the language at all.

This is not the normal way they do thing as I had 9 cops enter my home before and they were all screaming and yelling and no one knew what the other was doing. Even when they had to reason to enter my home . You do get the wrong house sometimes.

The 360 was nice, now the tactics, you have a shield and yet you put so many guys inside, yes it's training I get it but in real life so many bodies on the room means less room to work, why not have 3 people in the shield and two shooters and have rear sec, and outer cordon sec, every place is different but at least you want room to move and be behind the shield, move in with a rolling T with a shield in front give them as much cover and movement as possible.

They talk about speed, surprise, and violence and action, but demonstrate none of it. You don't just chill in the fatal funnel, and woddle with baby steps room to room. That's announcing you're there and have entered and taking so damn long to clear that they've likely barricaded. That's not even really the point of swat anyway. You're there to present an image of an unwinnable situation so that they surrender. Which to be honest, it really is unwinnable. But the 3 principles of room clearing are far more likely to start a firefight if not trained properly, especially outside of a military doctrine where violence isn't the intent.

There's two different ways of thinking when dealing with situations like this. If everyone was a tier 1 operator then yes I would agree with your POV but this approach is more effective when the team is less than elite.
