Thank you, Cathy. This video was not only inspiring because I've been thinking about doing this for y-e-a-r-s... but also because you make it look so ease. Thank you too for sharing your Frame/Cover labels.
You inspired me!! I’ve bought “the things “ and they came in .. I came back to see where you put them on the misti. We’ve moved and I’ve lost my misti…lol and my brand new circuit …that’s an uggg I’ll probably find them as we’re in the middle of renovations. I just needed to do something fun in the evenings. I haven’t made a card yet but thought this would be fun!! I’m 63 and just starting paper crafts. Looks so fun I couldn’t resist. You are one of the people who inspired me after I retired and started watching RU-vid. Want to thank you!
Oh that is wonderful to hear! (the starting paper crafts, not the lost things! haha! I have lost things too, as I'm moving into a different room in my house!) Keep it up! It's seriously fun and addicting!
I had cut a stack of Waffle Flower tags about 8 months ago or so.... it was about 3" high. I swatched my PFS inks and Distress Oxide inks today. I now need to cut about 1.5" worth of tags for the Distress Inks and the few Altenew cubes I have. Definitely a labor of love, but oh my gosh! You forget how pretty some of the colors are and you wonder why you havent used it much before. Found several that I now "need" to use! It also gave me some ideas to try out and it was just plain fun to be in my craft room for a few hours piddling. Only end goal was swatching the inks. No pressure, just some me time. Thanks for the oomph to get them done!
I did this about two yrs ago for my different types of colored cardstock. On one ring I have all my Bazzill color, and Bazzill textured paper each labeled on one ring and It hangs on a hook in my dreambox. After I finished, I started swatching my inks as well. I have the entire waffle flower swatch combo and same brother label maker you have Cathy. The waffle flower swatch dies are great! I used the same swatch rubber stamps also. I've been working on and off for about 2.5 years getting all my different brands of inks, and papers swatched. Its totally worth the time. This is a great video to show crafters this how to make ink swatches. Nice job Cathy, in the craft/👉 dinning room.😉 My crafting area is in the den off of the living room. So its referred to as the "Crafting den." Have a great day Cathy, love and hugs!
I have swatched my inks on 2x2 squares in a binder, but I think I’ll do my most frequently used inks on a ring like this! It’ll be much more handy! You always have the best ideas and I love your videos. And on a side note, your hair is looking so pretty grown out long like that!
Thanks to your original swatch video, I have swatched all of my inks and have done something similar with my COPIC and Crafters Companion alcohol inks. Can’t tell you how helpful they have all been in selecting just the right colors. Thank you so much for your inspiration and laughs! 😁
Cathy, this is AWESOME! Fixing to get started and thanks so much for coming up with this idea. You said to let you know what other stamp companies we would like you to add to your swatch groups. Sooooo Stampin' Up, Archival, Memento, Adirondack and Maker Forte. Thank you so much.
Hi Cathy! How are you???? I just started watching but HAD to tell you right away, PA-LEEZE do yourself a favor and buy the sizzix sticky sheets and put that in your misti. I PROMISE you will be thanking yourself and just thinking why didn’t I do this for so long! Really, it makes it so nice with no magnets.
Cathy, when I am printing a number of labels in one strip, and I am ready to separate and stick I do this: I pull off the entire backing to one point, not too long, and stick the first to hang off a non-stick surface. Then I trim it for the next label, and stick that to the surface. I pull off backing as I go. Then the labels are all stuck to the surface and ready to go!
I love this! The three swatch strips per color provides a good representation of how the inks will perform on the paper (I usually use the same paper stock). Since I'm newer to collecting ink pads, having the tags on a ring would make it so easy to grab/go when I'm shopping for new ink pads at my local craft store and ensure I don't double-dip!
Hi Cathy :) Sometimes I think my hobby is craft supply collecting and organizing rather than actual stamping! Lol. I enjoyed your video. I believe you have shown the colours swathed out on a chart before but would it be possible for you to show a closer look at these swatches on your blog? I have so many inks! I really do not need another full collection but I would like to pick up a few colours to fill in some gaps. Have an Awesome day 😎
I’m the same exact way. I could open up a store with all my brand new supplies. I just started swatching my inks. They’re in a swatch book I purchased on Amazon.
Just ordered the die and stamp set for this! Great idea, am excited to do this. Love watching you. Always puts me in a good mood and inspired to create!!!
Thanks, Cathy! I use Jennifer McGuire's Swatch Squares for all the different companies since they are pre-made and ready to cut and ink, but I can see how larger ones are nice for seeing the dyes/inks on the variety of stamps. 👍🏻❣️
Thank you Cathy! This is such a great idea! Fairly new to stamping, I don't have all that many inks yet but I am going to start now to swatch my inks. I appreciate you sharing this!
Hello Cathy! I needed a system to keep track of my inks. Your video was just what I needed. Just want to thank you for sharing your tips & the download. Sending sincere Thanks! 🥰
These look really nice! I always wondered why do swatches, but I get it now, they never look like you think they will. I really like these! I almost bought another collection of PSI this last sale but they’re out of all but one. I still have the stampin up but I took all my stamps out and I think when I get a full set of CP I’ll get rid of them and then I will add the PSI too. Then I’ll have oxides, PSI , and CP. Well that’s my dream. How nice of you to make those covers! Thank you! I have a cardstock ring and love it so I’m gonna do this! Thanks hun! Hugs!
Thanks for sharing the tip Cathy (especially the stamp set). I started making swatches when I first began crafting (about 10 years ago) but found that I had to create a second lot of swatches to indicate the change between stamping and blending the same inks. Blending tends to lighten the colours. To accommodate this I now stamp on one side and blend on the other. Its a bit more work but worth the effort.
Thank you Cathy! I have been waiting for the SSS swatch books to come back in stock, but I think I like this WF die better, since it can be used essentially forever!
Wow! That is a great idea, very useful, and it looks so pretty too. Thank you so much for the PDF I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again. Watching you just makes me happy. Keep bringing the smiles! :)
Very impressive with your organization!! What I would like is some honest/unbiased opinions on differences between: Gina K, Simon Says, Altenew & Catherine Pooler inks. Or is it really 6 of one, half dozen of the other and comes down to color preferences?????? I'd be every so appreciative!
Hi. They look so sweet and it's a really good idea. That's a lot of cardstock you managed to get through but I think it may well be worthwhile so I shall give it a go. I don't have as many inks as you have so I don't see me running short of cardstock. Thank you for sharing this.
I love this idea , I have another tag die I could use to do this, I would find it easier to use too. Also would look great hanging from my peg board system lol
Hey Cathy! I love your videos, and I have swatched my inks, but loved the Simon set of cute stamps to do them with, so I’m redoing them with this set. Could you possible add Lawn Fawn to your cover sheets? Thanks so much!!
Thank you for sharing your approach. I've looked at that stamp set many times. It might magically make it to my cart next time I place a Simon order. 😉 I just made a swatch sheet for my Maker Forte inks today, but think I might do separate swatches. Would you mind adding them to your list?
Hey Cathy TFS I haven’t done this before so found your tutorial very helpful going to swatch my Gina K and Oxide collections today cheers Jackie from Oz 😊🤩
Thank you Cathy, that's so nice of you to share with us. Do you by chance have the Catherine Pooler ink colors? They are truly amazing and the only complete set I own. I have several distress, SSS paw inks, and Simon Hurley inks, just not the entire set.
Thank you for another helpful video. I have swatch rings for my cardstock but never thought about doing this for my inks. Great idea! Question....why did you use three different patterns for the swatch stamps?
It's me again..... I'm sorry, I asked for Stampin' Up, but see that it is in your original tags. So probably a dumb question, but do you put the color swatches in order, like pinks/reds, yellows, greens, etc?
I can't get the swatch download, I get an error message. NOT FOUND, ERROR 404 The page you are looking for no longer exists. Perhaps you can return back to the homepage and see if you can find what you are looking for. Or, you can try finding it by using the search form below. Any advice or suggestions?
Well, not exactly. What I am saying is that any dye ink from any brand, if exposed to DIRECT sunlight, not light, can fade. : ) I have an ink shelf on my wall with three different dye ink brads. It gets direct sun every day. Many the tiny swatch dots i popped onto the edges of the pads have faded. Not all, but many. So I like to keep my swatches out of the light now.
Hey there. I wanted to let you know that the link to the inks doesn’t have the actual sets of pads for 2 out of the 4 . It had the refill sets, but someone new that doesn’t know there’s 4 might not catch that. I looked thru 3xs. Still could be me, but you might want to clean it out. I didn’t see them.
@@czdesign do you hang them? I’m intrigued by this idea. I think swatching inks is smart but I wouldn’t know where to put it afterwards if I switched my own inks ☺️
stamping twice is kind of a cheat, isn't it? Inks are supposed to stamp with one impression, that's what we pay the big bucks for quality inks for. Stamping a large solid stamp may require two stampings, but nothing else should?
Oh not at all. I stamp nearly everything twice, all the time, with every ink company I have. Maybe it's because I have wrist issues and don't press super hard? But my experience with nearly all of my dye based inks is I stamp twice.
