Love! For my topper swatch sticks, I first paint a third of the swatch stick white and a third black and leave a third clear and then swatch the topper over all three.

Oh my goodness. I just heard you say "layer all the toppers over each other," and the light bulbs began going off like the 4th of July!!! Take that topper swatch stick and lay it over any other color and bam!!! Instant result!!! No trial and error on your fingers. Just there it is. Holy Nail Polish Godmother Guru Kelli!!!!! These cataloging videos are great to see the variety from one brand. I've been trying to figure out how to create a good swatch stick collection so I don't have to go through and pull each bottle out when I am looking for a particular color, and I love how you did this so I'm using your idea. And as I've said before very dangerous for my pocket book as I see some that I did not realize I have to have even though my polish cabinet is bursting🤣.
These videos remind me how beautiful these polishes are and how much I want to cycle through them all despite it taking more time than I have patience for BUT ALSO makes me want to buy more and I can't 😢
The whole Holo Taco color story is SOOOO GOOD 😍😍😍 I’m so glad I watched this because I sometimes forgot how beautiful these colors are! I need to pull some out and wear them, like the multichromes 🤩 The Barista Collection is 😙👌🏼 and probably the only collection that I use religiously - the crushed holo and the shades are just so delicious 🤤 The way the almost glow on your nails is unmatched IMO Thank you so much for doing these! 💅🏽😍

I did the build your own bundle and got long lasting base, brick wall, fallen flake topper, and glossy taco. Then I decided to go ahead and get the colors that were available from the Barista collection. I need more storage 😂
The barista collection is one I never thought I’d love, I’m obsessed!! The crushed holo is so cool it looks like it glows. Great choices for your first order 💕💕💕🫶🏻

OMG. Amazing! These swatch stick videos are hitting the spot like a serotonin hit to my brain. A soothing cleanse for my eyeballs; only prettier than that sounds. Also: someone needs send our girl a bottle of Got Cake? stat!! (I have a couple spare bottles in my draw **throws long** CATCH!)
I don't own any Holo Taco and now I want them all!!! Sigh...thanks for sharing but now on to getting as much Holo Taco as I can afford. Cannot wait for my favorite ILNP extreme swatch video :)
I really wasn't sure whether to watch this or not. Holo Taco isn't readily available in the UK unless I pay huge postage costs but as your swatches are always so amazing I just had to. It's a mammoth task you have set yourself which I really admire, I'm even considering doing this myself. Anyway it was a great watch and Holo Taco do have some great polishes, I suppose the good thing is it's saving me a fortune 😂 So thanks again Kelli for showing us all your hard work it was wonderful to watch regardless. @KelliMarissa hi Kelli thank you for not taking offence at my reply none intended it's just so frustrating when I see a polish and I can't get it 🙃 anyway so there are quite a few I can get so ILNP, Mooncat, I scream, KB shimmer, Cirque, Cuticula, Picture polish so a good selection, obviously main stream here is Nails Inc & OPI some Orly collections make it here but not all, so I do have a lot of choices Only got into Indie through watching you but it's amazing so all good 👍 Thanks again Kelli, so much fun watching all you do ❤️xx
idk if you want to do this but maybe for the first swatch also show what it looks like with the lable printed/glued on and then at the end ALL the swatch sticks you made in the video (idk how you store them.. on rings i guess?) so we can really see what a gigantuan tasks this is i thoroughly enjoyed this video! and to me it feels like, apart from the toppers, holo taco does blues best 🤔 not so sure if i like their more muted, pastel-y shades great video kelli!
I love these videos, they're so relaxing! I actually watch them before bed haha! I do want to note that for some polishes, the lighting seems very bright and oversaturated; it's pretty accurate for all glitters, holos and shimmers, but for example Banana Hacks looks practically neon and I'm Live is -much- darker even in straight sunlight for me, and certainly a lot darker than Resting Witch Face.😅Also the pigment separation on Green Taffy is wild!
Ah I'm sorry about that, I was going off the way they looked with my studio lighting with my color correcting so the combo of that plus the light background might have made them a bit too bright 😅 I'll color correct them in regular lighting next time!!
I recently did this as well, and was shocked to learn that I only own 78 polishes! I also confirmed that I do not yet own the perfect ruby red, soft pink, or army green. Time to fill those gaps! You're right that having swatch sticks makes it so easy to see how a topper is going to look over another color.
Ooh yeah toppers can be so much fun! You should try one of the more transformative ones like the iridescent flakies, they really change a manicure so much!
SO sad how some of these are discontinued, ALL of these are so so pretty! Also interestingly enough (to my monitor) your Laven-duh looked warmer toned and Cereal Killer looked cooler toned, but my bottles are opposite. So weird! haha it's a very slight difference but I was like wait-
I was actually just thinking about that too, someone mentioned that the new ILNP shade could be a dupe for Laven-duh but I think it looks more like my bottle of Cereal Killer lol! Maybe my labels got swapped. 😂😂

I just did this with all of my holo taco polishes. It was definitely a game changer. I'm going to do it with all my polishes bc they look different on the swatch nail than they do in the bottle
sighhhh **goes to my holo taco wishlist** Also as a huge fan of holo taco’s glitters (and as someone APPALLED that people don’t love their glitters more), I was never a crystal skies fan, it never looked interesting to me. But up close, sooo glittery 🤤
I've actually not gotten rid of any Holo Tacos yet (although I should probably thin out my collection a bit haha!) To be honest I don't really have a specific method for keep vs donate, I usually keep all of the polishes from a brand until the collection starts to get a bit overwhelming 😅 I mostly get rid of dupes and formulas I'm not a fan of from mainstream brands!
Loving this series SO much! 😊And you inspired me to finally start cataloging my own collection on swatch sticks. When you posted your first video, I went onto Amazon and ordered my sticks and printer immediately 😂 Have you been happy with how the sticks turned out when painting the backside of the stick? Just wondering if the plastic dulls the special finishes like the holos or glitters. I love the idea of not needing to apply top coat on every stick though ❤
Overall I am pleased with the result from swatching the back, but I have noticed so far that the creme finishes do highlight any sort of scratches or dullness that the front of the swatch sticks may have (which tbh I didn't notice from the other finishes like shimmers and glitters!) But honestly that's not a deal breaker for me, I can still see the color pretty well for those 😅😅 but I'll tell you it's IMMENSELY satisfying to see all the colors at once on the swatch sticks lol!!
Loved the video but l noticed that you swathed some retired shades, and was wondering if you would consider doing a video on your fave retired swatches and or do a video about similar dupes
Ooh that could be a fun video!! It'll be a lot easier to figure out dupes once I have my collection all swatched out so I could maybe do more comparisons or dupe finds!
I paint the underside because when I flip it over, it looks smooth as if it's already got top coat on it (and I don't have to waste my top coat on a swatch stick!) 🥰
I like how you painted the underneath side of the swatch stick. I think mine are too inexpensive some of them have scratches or marks on the tops, I am not sure if they would look good. I think I'll try it anyway. I love Holo Taco I have all the polishes. Great video I love seeing all the polishes being swatched. 😊
Honestly some of mine are scratched up too haha but i think it's fine for the creme finishes because I know the color/finish is consistent for the whole swatch stick if that makes sense!
I love these videos! It’s so nice to grab a drink and a snack and watch these longer videos while I shop for polishes I just have to have!😂 I do have a question though, why do you paint the back of the swatch stick? I’ve never seen that done before. 🤔 ☺️
That's a good question haha, I probably should have answered that in the vid 😅 I like when the finish looks consistent in my swatch stick so when I paint the underside, after I flip it over it looks like it automatically has top coat on it!

@@jane_7375_ I actually did 4-5 coats for each of these 😅 for some reason it takes a lot more to get opacity on the swatch sticks! The toppers were 3 coats each!
Oh my gosh that's my struggle too tbh! I didn't realize how much space they take up - I've already got five rings full of swatches!! Maybe I can put up one of those peg walls for tools and hang my swatch stick rings from there lol
I’m so glad you are doing these swatches 🥰 and sharing! I personally would be a bit frustrated though as a good amount of these polishes were either limited edition to begin with or have since been retired and are no longer available. Once the bottle is gone, the swatch stick is irrelevant. Holo Taco seems to introduce a lot of beautiful colors and polishes but some are not available for very long. I wonder if this is something you see in other brands? I’m fairly new to Indie polishes and drug store colors can be available for many, many years.
Honestly it really depends on the brand! But I'd say most indie brands are less limited edition polishes, generally brands I like tend to keep polishes in stock for a while (and eventually retire them, but it doesn't seem to happen often!)

I also wanted to tell you about a movie I saw recently (since 2024 is about buying experiences, not things for me). Absurdly Macab - you might dig it. LOLOL. It’s called Poor Things with Emma Stone. I do not enjoy the movie theatre experience, but it was worth it for this movie.

I'm surprised at myself for liking the chunkier glitters the most while swatching these, because I haven't really worn them too much haha! Maybe it's time to give them another try!
I find these video's so soothing, but I have said that before. A side benefit of these video's is you can send them to your homeowners Ins for coverage GOD FORBID anything happens.
