Richard, I,m a lifetime member baptized at 8 years old and now in my 70’s. I’ve been an active member my whole life. My heart burned within me as you told your story. Thank you for sharing your miraculous story.
Richard is amazing! Our son Luke Lacey is the missionary who knocked on Richard’s door with his companion. We were able to go back to England with Luke in May and meet Richard and his wife personally. Truly they are lovely and remarkable people. Thank you for sharing Richard’s story on your podcast! So powerful!
Richard, the church so benefited from people like you joining the church right there in your neighborhood years ago. Thirty thousand member converts from England lifted the church unbelievably. I feel your strength and testimony. The gospel has been restored. Thank you
What a great conversion story! I’m actually born and bred in Yorkshire and a convert to the Church at age 28. I too wished I had found the Church a lot younger. What an incredible journey I’ve had. I quote Elder Holland who spoke to a fireside on my son’s mission: “ When you join this church you get way more than you bargained for!” Absolutely correct!!
I am a convert and born and raised in the US. My Paternal Great Grandfather was born in Paddock Church, Yorkshire and my Ancestors on that line all came from there!
Love this new channel! I love convert stories. I converted in 2014. Left the church is 2020 and removed my name. I had a powerful conversion experience and returned for rebaptism on April 20th, 2024
I have a very dear daughter who left with her family and removed their names also. I sure love them. It has been a sad time for me. But I do love them so and ultimately hope they will come back some day.
Richard is a delightful person, but when you use the term "honest seekers of truth" you are essentially saying that those who fail to join aren't honest seekers. It comes across as really judgemental and arrogant to those not of your faith.
My wife converting gave me an up close and personal experience of how difficult it is to become a member. For her it meant having to grapple with our truth claims in light of her very devoted Christian family members and what potentially that might mean. We both grew in our understanding of God’s amazing mercy. Thank you for sharing your experience.
What a precious and sincere story! When he said “within discipline comes a certain degree of freedom” that really resonated! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story!
Richard: Your story is refreshing, considering the state of the world, today. I am from Utah and I'm a lifelong member of the Church with pioneer-ancestry. I love hearing about modern pioneers, like yourself. A truth-seeker like yourself can do so much good. I'm glad to hear you're working with the young men. What a wonderful resource you are and will be to them!
I love Richard’s story! It is another reminder how much Heavenly Father loves all His children so much❤ and how powerful the spirit is! I’m so grateful Richard chose to listen to the spirit and his journey because of it. Bless him! He strengthens my belief and testimony 🙏😊💕
Nothing can beat a conversion story! I am so very grateful to you Richard, for sharing it. I felt the pure joy, excitement and miracle of your connection to our Saviour as you shared this. My mum was taught by the missionaries and converted when I was a baby, so I have always had the gospel in my life, but I had to find out for myself if it was really true. I felt , as I watched you talk about your experiences, pure love and gratitude for the Holy Ghost that reveals pure truth to all who seek it. I am from Scotland, so I understand the struggles that you’ve been through. Religion is not what people want, it’s frowned upon unfortunately. I wish you and your family all the very best.
This is a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing this! I have also felt the spirit like this and it’s so empowering to hear others speak so openly about it!
What a beautiful story of coming unto Christ! I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Richard’s story, testimony, and insights. It’s obvious that he’s been learning from the Holy Ghost. God is so good, and it’s wonderful to hear how He’s been guiding and teaching Richard.
Love hearing your conversion story Richard from your heart..l too found this amazing restored true Gospel when at the crossroad of my life Heavenly Father placed my now eternal companion in my path n his convincing testimony n immovable faith made me feel warm especially sharing this truth that l am a Daughter of God which sounded familiar in my memory making my heart warm desiring to learn more n when he explained in simple words the Lord's Plan if Happiness l was keen to meet the missionaries who taught n baptised me into the Kingdom of God on earth today..l have not looked back since that special day of my baptism 47 years ago..my continuing blessings n miracles have completed our joy even though we're going through hardest trials in our family..l know it..l love it and strive to live it..
Richard ~ You got it right, The Word of Wisdom is about OBEDIENCE, Fini. People mistakenly think it's a health code and one's health can benefit from abstaining BUT the bottom line is OBEDIENCE. WELCOME brother. Shirlee Graff-Allen Salt Lake City, Utah
One of my favorite interviews! What a delightful gentleman! Excellent interview! Loved this so much! Glad I found your channel! It’s fabulous and inspiring! ❤️☀️
This was such a beautiful conversion story. I am so impressed by his wisdom and strength encourage. It takes true humility at your age to be so open minded and sensitive to the spirit. I am so so grateful for your example and for your testimony. The Lord is working in Miraculous ways to bring some very incredible people into the church right now.
I know his excitement and how he felt the Spirit, etc. I am the only convert in my family. Was taught by the missionaries (Elders). Have served 3 church missions and love the Book of Mormon more each day each day. So proud of him! ❤
New to your channel from the Philippines. Thank you for your podcast. I was praying that more members like you and there are others continue sharing marvelous conversion stories. God bless my brother.❤
Love this channel bro, I’m Tongan live in New Zealand, Was adopted to Different family and different Faith, found the church when I was 14 , I got a hitting then I left the family till today, my testimony grown stronger and stronger , recently got my endowment , love you all brothers and sisters
Thank you Richard for your story and your testimony. I am a life long member of the LDS church, I benefited and appreciate you and your willingness to share with us. Thank you!!
Richard thank you for your testimony that makes our testimony stronger I had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life I know the Church is the true church of God on earth n we have a Living Prophet of God on earth President Monson May God bless you and your family n to keep going forward with your testimony it is true n the MOST WONDERFUL BLESSINGS to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints n God our Father in Heaven on earth great testimony.
Richard, I love your conversion story and you have shared so many insights that even though I’ve been a member of the church for a while I learned gems of spiritual insights to help me continue to follow the covenant path. Thank you for sharing your awesome conversion story. Emmie
This is now my favorite channel! I love Richard's faith, testimony, perspective, and example! Richard (and many like him) is an inspiration! Onward and upward!
Thank you so much for your story. My ancestors came from England and 2 died in a handcart company. I loved your testimony and it lifted my spirit. Stay the course.
Richard, I love your story and appreciate so much your willingness to share it. As a lifelong member of the church I had a hard time trying to figure out the parable of the workers in the field and how come it was fair to pay all people the same wage whether they came early in the morning to work or late in the evening to begin their work and I finally got it one day. You actually touched on this when you talked about what you missed out on coming later in the day, that being the protection the church of Jesus Christ brings to us. And also the things you had to experience that were hard by not knowing about the church and being a member. I think we as lifelong members sometimes don’t realize what we have had and we should be more vigilant in recognizing our blessings over the years. You are Such a great Example to all of us. Thank you!
Talk about a golden contact! I can just see those missionaries high-fiving and flying down the street side to side heel clicking in the air. What a spiritual feast listening to Richard share his conversion and testimony. It was joyful recognizing his spiritual maturity in such a short time in the church and was sad it when it ended.
I loved Richard's enthusiasm for the gospel and the kindness he showed when he went back to apologize to the missionaries when they first knocked on his door.
WOW !!What a fabulous experience to listen to Richard. I am so impressed with the fact that he listen to the Holy Spirit and followed his heart and spirit. I would love to meet him and his wife one day. This was time well spent for me to listen to as I am making birthday cards.❤
Thank you Richard. I love your story. I was having a tough day today and you made my day so much better. You sound like an amazing Young Men's Teacher and it was so awesome your wife came and helped. She must be an amazing woman as well. I appreciate your testimony and story. ❤
Clearly, the missionaries were led to find and teach Richard. I am nearly 78 and I seek the same promptings. Those promptings will come if we ask in faith.
Truly we are in the last days. We will be blessed if we will do as we are asked. There are so many who will accept if we just do our part. I have experienced miracles in answer to prayer.
A very interesting story. Richard seems like a first rate person. His faith has led him to the truth. My youngest brother, who lived in Harrogate with his family, served as the Stake president in the York area several years ago. At that time I understood he was the only north American to serve as a stake president in the UK. We got to visit him and see some great sites in the UK. Most of my ancestors are from the UK

Richard's authenticity is infectious. His English is so rich and fluent I can't imagine him swearing. It feels like we are kindred spirits. Thank you for sharing your story and your feelings.
'A good fear' => Anticipation, An-ti-ci-pa-tion .... 'We can never know about the days to come, But we think about them anyway'. Carly Simon just running through my head. :)
I am am not even half way through this and I am, captivated, intrigued, and find it thus far extremely interesting. What a wonderful individual .. Oh yes and sir if you read this please understand you are also hilarious in such a good way. Just love your sense of humor. I hope you have him on periodically as what he says is profound at times. Such as when he said to his wife I believe or rather when his wife said to him I don't think God cares if you have some tea and you responded yes you are probably right however he does care about Obedience. Profound indeed!
You are such a delightful person, Richard. Thank you for sharing your story. It was interesting and inspiring. I was curious about if you had noticed a difference in your life with receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit compared to your previous life? I further wondered if your wife is interested at all in investigating the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints? I also wondered how you made the decision to be baptized? Was it a solely intellectual experience, or did you have a spiritual feeling? Lastly, since you used to be affiliated with the BBC, is there any possible way that you could help facilitate the hiring of Sir David Suchet to record the Book of Mormon? He previously recorded the entire Bible, and it was magnificent! I would give about anything to have him record a reading of the Book of Mormon 😊
Please tell this delightful convert to tell his gym trainer to check out the US rugby champion coach, Larry Gelwix. He was one of my son's mission president and is in the film ,Live Strong!!
You are such a wonderful member, thank you for sharing your journey, my family joined in whales and mom side in England. So my heart is with you. Welcome home. Have you done your sons work or did you loose him before he was eight. Carol
Richard is explaining that as the prodigal son you learn fort hand that wickedness never was happiness. Prodigals are SEARCHING for “happiness”. They do things that may bring some happiness but not true joy and happiness of the gospel living.
While I'm listening to the interview, which is great, there's a conversation about the prodigal Son. What I gather from the prodigal son is two unique things. One is when the prodigal Son returns. He is given the robe of royalty and the Ring of royalty making him an heir to the throne. This goes along with our understanding of our standing with our father in heaven through Jesus Christ. And then the good son who stays is actually Jesus Christ Self-Reflection. Remember that he stays. He's righteous. He has to labor for God's children so that they can have the luxuries that are afforded to them through his efforts. And let's not forget the father says all that I have is yours. Just a different idea but I believe it works better than any
I wish you had asked about his wife, he mentioned he didn't tell her at first. How did that come about when he finally brought up the topic with her? often you get to see miracles in how God is working with both half's of a marriage.
I almost got sucked into the LDS cult. That was BEFORE I read the Bible. If more people would get an actual Bible and READ IT they would avoid following this cult to 🔥🔥🔥
Dawg, We (being the LDS church) just spent 2 years going over every Single Chapter and verse in the King James bible, As I read it, My testimony of Christ and the church soared. Personally, I read the bible every night along with the book of mormon, and honestly, It often comes down to either "we make bad men good men, and good men better" or "you are a sinner and are going to hell". And honestly, what you mean by "I was almost sucked in" is probably when you saw a member of the Church at a grocery store and they said hi to you.
@@calebraines4321 friend, I attended a LDS Church for a while. I sat through their meetings each and every Sunday afterwards. I was literally scheduled to be baptized in their church. The day before my baptism service, I absolutely knew in my heart that what LDS teaches is damnable heresy and I RAN FROM the church. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9 The Mormon church is doing EXACTLY what this passage warns of. I pray you see the truth before your last breath. You are being led off a cliff and you don’t even realize it. I wish you well.
Most returning missionaires are out of the church within 3 years and the vast majority of these conversation stories the people stop believing in this silly make-believe in a year to two. Give it a year and this guy will probably be saying how made up this stuff is and how he is happy to not be victimized by it anymore.
MORMONS, THERE IS NO BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD. Scripture is very clear in stating that this life is the only chance we get. Once we die, our fate is sealed: HEBREWS 9:27 "It is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgement" There are no "second chances" after death.
1 Cor 15:29 teaches by God’s servant, Paul, baptism was performed for the dead in the original new testament church. As the Lord has fully restored His church to the earth and as a fulfillment of the prophecies regarding the gathering of Israel, by His authority there is baptism for both the living and the dead. Also, we don’t identify as Mormon. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bless you in your search for truth.
@aprilgriffin7126 Your quote of: I Corinthians 15:29 "Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead? The context of this verse is in a form of a "question" not a commandment to perform baptism for the dead. "If the dead do not rise at all.." This part of the verse is asking why is the dead not rising? "Why then are they baptized for the dead?" This part of the verse is asking why are you baptizing the dead when they are not rising? No restoration is needed because Jesus already has established His Church. MATTHEW 16:18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it..." JUDE 3 "While I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints..." Jesus already has established His Church and built it on a rock so the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. No mention of any Mormon restoration in the past, present, or future.
judgement comes, fools mock but they shall mourn, there IS a chance, for everyone, God loves us ALL. Not just those who have heard of Jesus Christ. OR Even those to have heard wrong things about Jesus Christ and his teachings and chosen other things because they knew it was NOT right! We will ALL have the chance to hear the truth and then have the right to choose. We will only be judged on what we know to be right and wrong. Jesus Christ IS the peRFect judge and we ALL will be happy with our Final placement and location.
@ericwest6056 O.k. here's your chance to show me the truth. If the Book of Mormon is true, then answer this question. Why isn't there any archeological evidence to support any stories that is in the Book of Mormon? To this day, the Mormon church hasn't provided any kind of archeological evidence to support anything in Mormonism.
@@AlbertJLouie Why is it when I listen to this podcast and others like it, I feel joy, happiness, and a strong desire to be more like the savior Jesus Christ and to follow Him, by serving and helping others. Then I scroll through the comments and find yours and feel a sense of darkness and emptiness. Your words feel full of anger, mocking, and hate. Not the feelings of love, hope and compassion I associate with Jesus Christ.
When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity and the Eternal Creator God. God Himself warns us about this in: MATTHEW 24: 23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in? A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan. OR B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.
If you love God and want to be close to him, read the Book of Mormon with a open and prayerful heart. It supports the Bible. It testifies of Christ. It will bring you closer to Him. Ask yourself if someone in their young 20's with little education could have written such a complex book. Ask God in sincere prayer to help you know the truthfulness of it. It helps clarify the Bible, it doesn't take away from it. Both books are important. I love the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon brings me closer to Christ and helps me understand the Bible. It helps me feel His spirit of love, inspiration, and peace. God lead away a group of Israelites from Jerusalem before it was to be destroyed back in the time of Jeremiah and also during the time of the Tower of Babel. The Book of Mormon is their story and it supports the Bible. It testifies, and testifies, and testifies of Christ. The most important theme of the Book of Mormon is to believe in Christ.
@barbarahale2821 I did have a prayerful heart, and God told me that the Book of Mormon is false doctrine and that Joseph Smith is a false prophet, and God also said that He did not sent any angel from heaven to Joseph Smith.
@@AlbertJLouie I respect your point of view and your beliefs. But in this, I have had more than enough witness that is not the answer I received. But, I don't want to be argumentative about it. Maybe we can focus something less dividing? It seems that we agree that we both love the Bible and the word of God. It seems that you want to follow Jesus with all of your heart. That is fantastic. I do not want to seem negative toward someone's honest beliefs. Best wishes to you.
Richard’s vocabulary and command of language plus a delightful charismatic communication style makes this unique conversion experience a magnetic, powerful missionary tool ! Keep telling your story, it’s inspiring, motivating, humorous and solidly convincing!
