Sweden still has about 500 of them, so the "1/4 of their fleet" is a bit off. The ones used in Sweden are in 14 different configurations, although most haven't been upgraded to 2024 standards yet. In part, Sweden has been using the aid to Ukraine as a way to upgrade its arsenal, by gifting current-generation arms and replacing them with next-gen equipment.

One important factor with the 40mm variant of CV90 is the possibility to use 3P (Pre-fragmented, Programmable, Proximity- fused) ammunition. It's programmed upon firing. Likely devastating if you target enemy trench so that it explodes above the target for example. But it's expensive, not sure if Ukraine have gotten any of these.
@biggie4310

The new 35 mm will also have programmable from Nammo, test shows they will penetrate even better than the 40mm.

This video is very confusing in its presentation 14 5mm is from the side and 30mm apfsds is from the front. And this is on the basic cv9040 mk0 every export customer has picked an armor upgrade package that is bolted on top of the existing armor. We know Cv9040Cs in ukraine have withstood 125mm tank guns frotally a few times but that was probably older ammo

Confusing video, tried to see if they included footage of any actual CV9040 (the Swedish variant sent to Ukraine), but can only see CV9030/35 export versions in the clips shown. Very sad, as the main Swedish version has the buff Bofors autocannon and the Barracuda-camo. They look like they mean serious business.

Recent orders of the CV90 have been placed by Slovakia, which purchased 152 vehicles for $1.37 billion, and by the Czech Republic, which acquired 246 vehicles for $2.2 billion. Defense News February 2024. It is simply queuing to get the best IFV. 180 will be manufactured in the Netherlands and together with them there will be 230 with those manufactured in Sweden. So the manufacturer in Sweden BAE Hägglunds has orders for a total of 628 IFVs right now. Even if the factory has been expanded and hired more people and added shifts, it takes time. What I can say is that we Swedes and broders & sisters in Netherlands do everything we can to help, I hope you understand. The Swedish manufacturer BAE Hägglunds have increased the production several times, but needs new facilities to further increase. 2026 another 11.000 m2 will be ready. They are also looking into opening a factory in Ukraine.

If you want to have another series-recommendation take a look at this: "Soldathjärta - Armén 500 år" (Soldier's Heart - The Army 500 years) the series is a documentary about the Swedish army and how it has changed and operated over its 500-year history. It is fully in Swedish, but the automatic English text is fine ( I checked) and is fully understandable.

And there was other things wrong in the video as well.

0:50 its easy to donate stuff for "billions" cuz we want to know what has to be improved. we have a tone of "high tech" stuff that the world misses due to USA is being loud and bragging about their stuff. No one see what we have, and what we have to sell. And without a active war to put the stuff to the real test i am not surprised that so many don't know shit about our stuff. And also, not all but most of the 20 companies in Sweden is partly owned by the Swedish state. so its good tax money. Swedish state do not own any defence company to 100% what i know of. But many of these companies are under either SAAB Group. or BEA System Sweden (not USA / UK). as for ex Hägglunds who design and produce CV90 full name is BAE Systems Hägglunds AB (AB = Stock / Share Company) and that is in that turn owned by BAE Systems Sweden AB, and BAE Systems Sweden AB is owned by BAE Systems, (from USA & UK) BAE Systems Sweden AB owns also BAE Systems Bofors AB. SAAB Group owns for ex SAAB Dynamics AB, Saab Kockums AB, Saab Barracuda AB and more. and in those companies Swedish state have a share. how big i dont remember but its nice for us tax payers. our taxes can be lowered now with the new orders coming in, So in this war we had a chance of both helping Ukraine with what we think is good stuff and what they need against Russia, we get some of our stuff battle tested and we make money on all the orders that has been placed now by NATO members after they have seen how our stuff works in real war. Without this war, and our new membership in NATO we would never had broken through the sheer wall of American loud noise and PR from USA about they thinking they are the best. Dont forget, its long time ago now, about 15 years maybe then Swedish navy where invited to train with NATO forces outside Norway and UK and we sunk the American airplane carriers at least 3 times and they didn't even registered the sub who sank them. With our jetfighter plane SAAB Viggen we both escorted Blackbird SR-71 back to German from Russian airspace. And we also had a missile lock on the American Blackbird SR-71 due to the Americans didn't had any approval to enter Swedish airspace at the time.

There is one confirmed damaged and one destroyed CV90 out of the 50 some CV9040C delivered to Ukraine 15 month ago. (June 2023). The first was damaged as it charged forward straight into a Russian position. It took 3 RPG, one to front and two to the side. The crew and mounted survived and left the CV90 there. Russia took it to motherland to show. Some week ago a CV90 was destroyed in the Kursk region driving down a road by a Lancet drone.
@SonsOfLorgar
@SonsOfLorgar День назад
It wasn't RPGs that hit the first one, iirc, it was 125mm HEAT from a T-72, but the muskovites falsely claimed it was RPGs to downplay how tough it actually turned out to be. That said, all rounds hit at a very bad angle (for the moskovites) that enabled the extra armor of the CV90 to fully prevent penetration.
