@@ixyzyxi Does it still have the higher nickel content than rest of Europe? I remember reading history books about the Germans liking the Swedish steel for that. Also, the cast iron blocks of the older Saab's and Volvo's were more durable because of the higher nickel content. The nickel makes increases the ductile strength in high temp applications.

@@frida507 We had 48 in total. 24 was in storage. Then Sweden took over the order of 24 Norway bought but cancelled, and another 48 has been ordered last summer.

Well, actually an Archer got hit by a Lancet a few days ago. Some damage to the system, which will be repaired, and the crew unharmed. Lancet is not that great a weapon. ;)

It's fully automated and requires just moderate computer skills so it's not that advanced to learn, one guy could do this. Anyways this thing is not replacing the regular artilleries they have, it's just bonus thing that they can use.

Russian artillery doctrine might have been wise back in the 1940s but not today. This gun got better range - which means it can shot at russian artillery without the russian guns have the range to fire back at it. The russian guns are also inaccurate, takes a long time to reload, have low quality ammunition, and they are not easy to move around. And when your precision is so bad do you need to fire large amounts of ammunition to hit a target - and that means more problems with getting enough military trucks that carry ammunition to the frontline. And the risk of getting killed is higher with the short range russian guns that needs to sit close to the frontline to be able to hit something. Russian artillery doctrine has failed. Compared BM-21 to HIMARS. Himars can reload fast and hit targets extremely far away is guaranteed to hit a target within a 4 meter circle from it. And the explosion is so powerful that even if it miss with 4 meters will the targe be killed. But BM21 needs an extremely long reload and its rockets will land somewhere within 250 meters of the target. So even with a huge rocket barrage could the losses on the enemy side be very low because the weapon is so inaccurate.

It should not be possible. As I understand it this vehicle is capable of shooting while it is moving. The video showed the vehicle moving and it showed the vehicle shooting, but not both at the same time. Sad, if they haven't learned it. But this artillery system is great!

And with modern artillery, the shell does the most.. so yes its practical the same as other modern artillery. Its a very good one, but its nothing special. First of all Russia use Glonass and it's by far not even close to GPS system used by Western military. Second you need to not only compare the Archer to 2S19 Msta-S, the Archer have a +14 km further range with its ammunition, faster and better at anything the Russian crap can come up with. Even with standard range it has longer range then the Russian crap. Like I said, do some research before posting such craziness. It is not a waste at all. it's Very much the opposite, an investment. Showing the systems capabilities in real combat will make it Drastically more valuable as an export product. and will within the near future rack in A hell lot more in revenue for the swedish arms industry than it wouldv'e if it was never combat proven. Look at the latest agreement with the UK, they already bought 14, and are looking at buying 10 more in the near future. and after that they will likely start swapping their older systems for archers. An agreement has also been made for the UK to be joint in the construction of parts.

All data is sent directly back to Swedish defence industry to be analyzed for future upgrades and fixes to make Better archer that are More potent. This was one of the criteria for them to be sent. you're really short sighted if you can't understand the benefits for sweden when sending equipment that we have not tested in real war.

That is the speed training for experience artillery personell. Conscripts would get about 10 months from civilian to fully fledge gunner (minus the combat experience, hopefully).
