Funny thing happened ages ago, I met a Swedish dude and we spoke Swedish for a while but I guess my pronunciation irritated him and soon he started to speak English. Back then I was quite fluent in Swedish (finlandssvenska, I call it moominsvenska) but not anymore.

Is there a regular video about all the vowels pronunciation? The sound quality makes it hard to hear clearly.

Just search for our videos here about pronunciation and you will find one for each vowel.

Finally, I got the clear difference between "har" and "hår". It kept elluding me even though I completed all 56 units in Duolingo at legendary level almost 2 months ago. Tack så mycket!

Correction, 55 units (unless we count daily refresh section as a separate unit). It became a little hard to keep track of units' total number since they added division into sections in one of the updates.

Can I ask how long it took you to get through it?
@stormmaster108
@stormmaster108 11 месяцев назад
@Hello-rq9yx Sure! I started on the 4th of November 2022. In 3 months, I completed the major part of the course (it was a 43 units course back then, but after unit 32 or something, there was basically nothing new: no more grammar, no new words, just similar exercises). I was about to finish the last units (but only had legendary on about 1/3) when an update rolled out adding 11 more units to the course and soon after that 1 more unit, for a total of 55. I completed all the new units and went on to achieve legendary on every single one. I managed to complete this right on my birthday, the 4th of September. So, all in all, exactly 10 months :) I should mention that Swedish wasn't the only language I studied on Duolingo during this time. Swedish was the first, but after 1 month, I started to do some German, and having occasional breaks from Swedish to German (for several days sometimes) actually helped with studying Swedish. I also tried Hindi (for practical reasons only because I was living in India), Dutch, Ukrainian, Hebrew a bit. But not much, the only noticeable one was German with 20 units (however, unlike Swedish, German has a very long course of 114 units, so 20 is still a very beginner level). But after all these experiments (from month #2 to #4) and tasting other languages for various reasons, I really focused on Swedish and needed no other distractions until the end of the course. After finishing the Swedish course on Duolingo, I focused more on the swedish textbook that my friends brought to me from Ireland in June (they had to order it from the UK first!).

Now I keep refreshing my Swedish and watch various swedish tv-series, but I study Hebrew on Duolingo because without visiting my country of residence (Russia), I only have a prospect of settling in Israel. Any attempt to get a Swedish visa of any kind would require an application to the swedish embassy in Russia, and I am not going there, of course.

Great, I was able to clearly understand the differences in pronunciations, today's video is very good, as they always are in truth lol. I have a different question from today's video, why in some sentences blue, for example, is said blå and in some others it is said blåa?
@may126_
@may126_ 11 месяцев назад
adjectives are conjugated based on the gender and amount of the word, so you say "en blåhaj" (a blue shark) because "haj" is common, you say "ett blått hus" (a blue house) because "hus" is neuter, and you'd say "blåa byxor" (blue pants) because pants are plural hope i helped :)
