I had this in '82. I used to use it, along with a cassette recorder, to make funny messages to then record on to our answering machine (remember those? LOL). I think my dad still has the entire system with all of the games we had.

I got the Odyssey 2 for Christmas 1981 and still own it to this day and works great! Also have The Voice and some games that are voice compatible. You can purchase the 150? in 1 cart and every game that was voice compatible including homebrews is on there. Great stuff!!!

A cousin of mine hade the "Philips Videopac G7000" (in Europe) I remember playing "Showdown in 2100 A.D." It was a memorable experience back in the early to mid 80's

I had the Odyssey 2, but never had the voice game like you. We had a Magnavox store, and we would order our games at the store, that was the only way to get them.

Yeah, we only had one store around us at the time. The guy behind the counter had a catalog you would look through with the games inside, and you order them to the store by mail, it took a few weeks to get the games.

In Europe this thing was called the Philips VideoPAC G7000 or G7100. Without the top module then.

We had one! Used to type in "Throw Charlie down the toilet fool. He stinks!" LOL (We were just kids). We laughed like you did in your video. The best part was how it pronounced "foo-el." Hilarious.

Had this. I remember a friend prank calling places with the Voice saying mean things. like calling dominos and having it say "I would like a Pepperoni pizza, A$$hole"

That box was AMAZING. Very sturdy and could hold the unit plus many games. I got the voice modules and it fit in the box while still attached., I used the box for the module to store more games in. The artwork was captivating.

And that's why, it wasn't very popular in french Canada. Once we had some voice synthetiser devices, we tried many things to make them spoke in french and god that was awful and not cool. Anyway, we had some advantages... Like Super Mario Bros. 3 before it was released in America. Yes, we had Famicom games in Canada 2 weeks after the Japanese release.

The kc munchkin comments about " ouch! Oh no" need clarification, that game was called kc's crazy chase and was made as part of the voice series, like a sequel to kc munchkin. If you could get your hands on the type & tell instruction manual I remember it giving suggestions of things to type to make different sound effects, like "qqqqqqqqqqq" or "kkkkkkkkkkkk" it's been a long time, remembering my best, I might have to pull the ol' odyssey 2 out of the closet

IMHO: Best of the era Magnavox Odyssey with "The Voice". I still have one of these & a bunch of the games. They got into a legal battle with the makers of PacMan over a game they called K C Munkin that was actually better. My children loved this thing. It also was instrumental in teaching them to swear unfortunately as "type and tell" had no boundaries or parental control. Quite ahead of it's time.

I LITTERALY baught the Oddyssey 2 BACK when it FIRST CAME OUT back in 1980's & I STILL OWN IT NOW !! its always fun to and then 1 year later I baught the "VOICE MODULE" and ALL THE VOICE GAMES INCLUDING "TYPE & TELL"" I OWN IT STILL TODAY( STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX) .IT STILL WORKS GREAT ! & ACASIONALY I HOOK IT back up & play with it for something fun to do .. YES IT IS A CLASSIC & IT WAS THE VERY FIRST VIDEO GAME EVER THAT COULD TALK (back in the day) !

The system with the speech maybe $150 or so plus a little more for the games, the Atari's are probably worth $50 each or so.

It would be neat to use Type & Tell to type out speech phrases from Stern's Flight 2000, because 'The Voice' module has similar speech to Flight 2000.
