In today's video, I'm excited to share the process of harvesting sweet potatoes from my grow bags. This provides a perfect opportunity to guide you on when to harvest sweet potatoes, how to take cuttings for propagation, and the curing process to enhance their flavor and extend their storage life.
Having cultivated sweet potatoes both in the ground and in grow bags, I've found the latter to be more convenient for harvesting. Digging out tubers from the ground can be laborious and risks damaging them. Growing in containers, like grow bags, allows for a simple flip-and-harvest method, ensuring every tuber is gathered. In subtropical climates, missing even one tuber in the ground can lead to rampant sprouting and spreading, making grow bags a great choice for small gardens.
While harvesting these sweet potatoes, I show you how to propagate more slips from cuttings and show different methods both indoors and outdoors, for curing the tubers.
