This is the first seed that we are going to sow for the new season Autumn Jump Starter.
Sweet Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) is a biennial and can be sown in the summer, but I find it a lot less hassle to grow with the hardy annuals.
Not all biennials respond as well to being sown in Autumn but this one has never let me down.

Thank you Zoe. A great informative video as usual. You've reminded me also that I must purchase my Autumn starter guide. 😊xx

These videos are so extremely helpful! And seeing the process all the way from the beginning to end is very inspiring. I have built in shelves under a covered porch, so I'm thinking that could be a safe place to overwinter the seedlings! I had forgotten to order Sweet Rocket so thanks for the reminder!

Great video again Zoe thank you. I’ve sown mine so I’ll just look forward to seeing them now. Is there any chance you can show us how best to harvest them and at what stage as last year I think I picked mine too soon and also didn’t realise they are cut and come again. Thanks

I have started sowing mine January. Will it bloom this summer?

It needs a period of cold growing conditions to flower, if the plants don't get enough cold they will grow fine but flower the following year, so leave them in if they don't bloom xxx

These are cool weather plants, you need more heat tolerant plants such as Zinnias. There is lots of information on my website zoewoodwardgardening.com

Super tutorial, thank you Zoe. What other flowers could work in a shady spot?

Hi June - biennials do tend to be more shade tolerant. For Spring we will have some new options in our shop - top secret at the moment but you will love them!

I love her beautiful hands but my fingernails are no way useful. They’re very short. I love the way she talks about germination and fertilization.
