Whoa. How about this CERN = 48 in GEMATRIA same as CERNUNNOS = 48 CERNunnos is the celtic god of the Underworld that CERN (large hadron collidor that connects both France and Switzerland) received its name from. Amd its weird how Sweet Tooth , this apocolyptic show which cause hybrids to be born hmm.. And happens to be trending #1 in the world now.. Crazy how the lead character in the movie also symbolizes CERNUNNOS. Also match INTERNET which also = to 48 in GEMATRIA ( what the freemasons use to communicate. Wake up people! numbers and symbols run the world. UNIVERSAL LAW = they have to tell you what they're gonna do to you in movies before it happens. PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING!!.) Now could this be signs of the grid shut down ? Have 33 countries spent $10B, hired 10,000 scientists to secretly recreate an ancient egyptian stargate? Or " Wormhole" .? was the idea for movies such as contact, Hellboy and Stargate Sg-1 birthed from their plan to build a modern day stargate? Is their stated goal to recreate the big bang and to find the "Higgs Boson" for something more sinister? Will the 17 mile Large Hadron Collider (LHC) built 574 feet under Switzerland and France open a door to another world? Could the Large Hadron Collider be causing the strange sounds covering entire cities many square miles in size? Could it be causing earthquakes and volcanoes to awaken like the many recent ones we've been having? Some scientists fear it could easily open a wormhole, or create a black hole and destroy this planet! Muslims are looking for their Mahdi or 12th Imam to lead Islam to world domination. They claim he will arise from a well either in Iraq or Iran .. Scientists have built this collider at CERN, but CERN is not just a word, is it short for CERNnunnos an occult which half-man half-beast which arises out of the earth? Prophecy says "The beast" will "ascend out of the bottomless pit". Will the LHC open a door allowing entrance into our world?
No it wasn’t a corpse. It was a dummy. He buried his dad. You’ll see his gave outside with his glasses hanging on top. Big man took the glasses from there and hanged it on the fence.
i doubt it. it looks like a cheap show compare to Jupiters Legacy which they just cancelled. CGI and even prosthetics are not even that impressive and i think thats intentional so the chances of this being renewed is far better than the more expensive series Netflix have. I didnt care bc the story and acting are good and it reminded me of The Last of Us or The Mandalorian or even God Of War.
Somehow the fact that Gus and Wendy, Characters from 2 completely separate stories throughout the entire season, finally meet at the end is incredibly epic to me. Also the fact that Wendy immediately accepts/likes Gus and hugs him is super wholesome and moving. Gosh i love this series.
I liked the show and enjoyed the lighter tone compared to what you've described about the comic. I've had enough of the dark, dismal, end of the world stuff at this point.
@@noobmasterruben5167 wich is also exactly why i couldn't get into either of those series.. they are always the same have the same overused tropes of "the mean girl and the badboy. and then there is the overly kind person who is hated by the meangirls" like ugh i get it already now think of some original characters instead of just going off of age old tropes again and again and again.. in Sweet tooth i never had a single moment in wich i was like ugh skip because each character is their own thing.. apart from some of the background random badguy characters wich really don't matter much to the story other than that they exist and are grunts kind of like team rocket or something sure okay but the main characters are all interesting non stereotypes that are just themselves and that is what i like.. i don't want to be able to see from episode one that oh this character is an asshole and this one is not.. like no i want it to be a mystery to speculate within myself and to be pleasantly or otherwise unpleseantly suprised by the characters
With respect to the darker, intense original source material, I really appreciate that light touch Netflix and the Downey's have given the show. I know purist will feel like its a Disneyesque rewrite but its made all the horrible bleakness much more palatable.
agreed.. the original feels like a deep well that just gets darker and darker as it goes the road they actually took has just the right mix of light and dark to pull you up when things seem too bleak to show you that hope that light at the end of the tunnel instead of just more darkness.. i think that if they took the full source material 1 to 1 i would have stopped halfway trough because it would have brought my own emotional state down too much.. but now it's the right balance to actually keep it up and make it enjoyable
Agreed. I think with how prevalent the themes of the show are to what’s happening today. I think giving it a more childlike hopeful take was the right call. Not that dark tonal shows don’t work or have a place because they do and can be fantastic. But binge watching a show about a bleak prejudice world after a virus….I don’t know about that.
It’s has the perfect combination of dark source material and light innocence of childhood and I…..I actually think, my overall opinion…..it might be better than the comic…
If Sweet Tooth cut off his horns and put on a hat, he wouldn't have endangered his friends and lives abnormal life. ( deers often loose their horns in fights )
I think the part when Judy said Birdie has set to look for Gus is only a white lie just so he won't feel abandoned. She also didn't expect Birdie to leave everything about the lab in the attic that could make Gus even more heart broken
@@Rqblt lol lets be honest. That had to be the biggest b.s. moment of the show. How is she going to find a guy who she just meet a few hours ago, doesnt have his number, doesnt know where he lives, and just told to him to run as fast and as far as you can. Civilization and communication break down shortly there after. Unless she was wearing some super thick plot armor she wasnt finding them lol!
Me being an adoptee dealing with my journey this story here was right on time. I won't lie I weeped like a baby at the ending I lost it I mean I needed that cry. Had me on edge the entire season. I can't wait for season 2
I was actually thinking about that - i remember seeing some flak about some disney show that was really painful for adoptees because of the way it portrayed something, i dont even remember, but this has all sorts of adoptees. in fact the only child I think we see with its birth parents is that kid up in the forrest gift shop place, sleeping in a canoe.
Spoilers, of course. A plot point has me puzzled: The syringes with red liquid. How did Pubba get some, and why did Abbot use one on Dr Bell? Birdie hands Gus to Richard/Pubba, apparently the night that the sick is released. They probably never contacted each other for fear of being followed. Richard & Gus arrive at Yellowstone just as the hybrid births start, meaning it's nine months that Richard has cared for Gus and prepared do hide. Richard did not have much access in the lab; he was a janitor/handyman. But he had a box with several of these syringes. How did he get them and know what they were? When he used one defending Gus, the attacker SCREAMED. When Abbot used one on Dr Bell, she SCREAMED too, indicating that it is the same stuff. Obviously, Abbot like revenge and letting his men know what happens to traitors, but how did he know what that stuff is? What is it? By the way, anybody who claims that Gus being the result of a lab experiment was a plot twist was not paying attention. Again, Pubba's clearly marked box of painful death told us the situation in episode 1. This from a guy who misses every bit of foreshadowing. I did miss his name tag, but you couldn't miss that box. Oh, one more. Why did Pubba have that box, but no firearms?
Finished this today and really enjoyed the series! A real modern day fable. Gus is unforgettable and Big Man's relationship with him is very touching. They better have a season 2 soon!
Glad they changed Jepperd’s character for the streaming series. Having him betray Sweet Tooth in the end would have been a tough pill most people couldn’t swallow.
they did great with sweet tooth. every main character was likable and developed so well i'd hate to see any of them die. even bobby who barely had screen time or said anything would make me cry if he died haha. very dif from jupiter's legacy lols where i was annoyed by almost every single one of them and i wouldn't care who died xD
Hey, another thing to keep in mind is that there are lot of Easter eggs and references to other work by Jeff lamire in the TV show. Like for example the show has this subplot with flowers in it. And this might be an omaj to a Jeff lamir book called Trillium in which flowers are a key component in the psychedelic trips that astronauts go on in the story arc. Another reference to a Jeff Lamire book Is that the town in the in Colororado is called Essex That is a reference to Essex County which is a 3 part story series that Jeff lamir put out several years ago. Essex is also a reference to the City Jeff Lamire grew up in. Essex is in Canada.
Really enjoyed this show. Good to see a show include strong family and parenthood values and not do it that the expense of Dads.Look forward to Season 2.
It was going to be my show to watch while doing something else, but it quickly became a show to watch with complete attention. I really enjoyed it. Was caught by surprise at how short a season it was too. I'm glad there'll (probably) be a season 2.
Really appreciate it that they didn't straight up went to darker version of the story like in the original source and that made a more room for upcoming seasons. Ps. Didn't know why some people hate the actors. I thought they were perfect for the role and very likable.
i haven't read the comics beforehand but when watching because we find out big man has a son i think the boy seen at 9:35 is probably his son.. when you look at the brief shot you see of the baby it adds up. though i have no clue what he's supposed to be.. at first seeing the baby i thought maybe he was a sheep or a goat
Great show, with great casting, sounds like they're smoothing out the storyline and making things differ a bit so it can't all be spoiled by the comics
I just finished it last night. Holy fuck what an amazing show. Edit: I had no idea the comic was so much darker than the show. I guess it makes sense. DC comics is pretty dark.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised...every episode was enthralling and thoroughly enjoyable. the writers did a fantastic job as the directors and producers....casting was awesome....and i can't wait for season 2..............and i hate waiting lol
I loved it. I binged it in one day which is something I would usually never do. It grabbed me from the start with the fairytale style narration, the lovely lighting, cinematography and the absolutely adorable baby Gus (not quite as cute as Grogu but close :):). Something you didn’t mention here is the music. The soundtrack is spot on and each episode contains a song that acts as a sort of tonal commentator. The use of Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men was perfect. After that, I knew the creators of this series knew what they were doing. And the acting - fabulous especially young Christian Convery who plays 11 year old Gus. I’m looking forward to a series 2 but if they haven’t already filmed it, the the actors playing Wendy and Gus will look too old.
You forgot one thing, Pubba actually took a syringe filled with the virus to fight the stranger, that's how he got exposode to sick, but how did he got the virus in the first place.
I was worried after the first episode because it was so different but as it went on I enjoyed it. I can watch it with the kids where as I couldn’t really share the comics with the kids.
100% agree. Was worried it would be simplified or sanitized too much, but really loved what they did. I think season 2 (and further) could get darker (not as dark as the comic), but darker.
Binge watched it in one day. Couldn't stop watching it. Don't like how it ended.. Didn't want it to end. Need to know what happens next. 😕 This show was amazing
ok but when i found out wendy was actually bears little sister???? like what? that’s literally the cutest thing ever, i hope bear finds that out in the next season! she’ll be so happy
SPOILER I thought they were gonna kill off our beloved Big Man. I was literally repeating, "I'm going to never watch this again if they kill him off." Glad to see different characters all connecting as well. Really wasn't expecting Bear to be connected to one of the other characters, then boom, her sister is Pigtails.
I was upset when Pubba died but was relieved when he showed up in later episodes. I was hoping Big Man wasn’t dead, but if he was, I hoped they would show more of his back story and still be in the series.
I believe Netflix made it a little bit more interesting from the graphic novel. Look forward to the changes they will make. Sorry to hear Jupiter's legacy has been cancelled.
I THINK (edited for those who don't respect others' opinions) the show was great, and the changes don't ruin it. I think it should do well and get a 2nd season. Great review and explanation, as always. I THINK Jupiter Legacy's pacing was awful. I read a comment from a comic book reader who said 1-2 pages of the comic was taking an entire episode. Also, the fight scenes were awful.
As someone who hasn't read the comics but LOVES strange shows, I think this show would have been about 90% better if they stuck to the old adage "show don't tell" and left the narrator portions at start and end of episodes out. I mean really... what does he do for the story except break the surrealism of the show!
Never heard of this series before last night. I was checking out Netflix and seen it. Added it to my watch list. After your video today I know what I am watching this weekend.
With all the hints and Easter eggs in the episodes, there is much familiarity with the covid and chaos, and toilet paper, sanitizer and the face covering plus the mental panic on the people that allowed it to happen then still believe the government bullshit and blame the hybrids.
The show took some elements from comic series #1-40 and they made the other majority part by their own story telling in a lot more light hearted with adventurous tone and giving meaning of life and to never look down upon anyone be it hybrid and the H5G9 virus theme perfectly utilised in the show giving Covid 19 scenario vibes the ending was a big cliffhanger of Birdie picking up phone can't wait for season 2 my ratings for season 1 9.5/10 👍👍👍👍
This was an amazing series. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS DC AND BY ROBERT DOWNEY JR. A D HIS WIFE AS PRODUCERS! Great show, I just found it on Netflix and Greatness showed up
having not read the series, i find sweet tooth to be a serious breath of fresh air in the apocalypse genre. the theme of hope with the punch of bright colors is wonderful despite the tragedies it relays. it's even better knowing the author is the one behind the changes and i agree with his take on the genre's current state. can't wait for season 2
Has absolutely nobody noticed that evil General Abbott is a facially identical doppelgänger of Kamaji, from Spirited Away? (Just give him spider legs and you'd be 100% good to go.). Now, I can think of absolutely no reason why this should be so (Kamaji, though possibly amoral, is not self-evidently psychopathic evil incarnate), but it's impossible to watch the movie and the series and not believe that Abbott, with his ridiculous beard and orange flip-top glasses, is not a visual take-off of Kamaji. Since the Netflix series derives from a comic, and there are probably few comic book artists unfamiliar with Miyazaki's anime, I guess you could attribute it to unconscious borrowing of an iconic image, but otherwise... I'm completely at a loss.
Bear isn’t so much a new edition to the show, just an alternate interpretation of Becky (The Pretty Girl) from the graphic novel. Aimee is however a new edition, though most likely inspired by Lucy from the graphic novel
I enjoyed the whole world building (though if every child born is a hybrid, don't see the last men being so successful). Will probably become one of the biggest things on Netflix... and be canceled the week after.
I was sucked in from the beginning. Absolutely loved everything about it. Did anyone else wonder what was in the freezer? I switched off and waited to carry on in daylight, lol. ❤❤🎈🐷🦌
Not a fan of the comics, he makes the dog children look like the stereotypical vicious pitbull which, those dogs are not monsters.. totally irresponsible depiction of a dog that is unnecessarily discriminated against.
Tommy Jeppard in the show wasnt "just an american football player" he also was a professional, one of the best who suffered an injury and despite that continued to play
I really like the rough style of the comics. It gives the impression that Gus made these in his adulthood. Also the show made a reference to furries which I thought was pretty funny
I don't know why but this series really reminded me of Roberto Benigni's "Life is Beautiful", where a father tries to preserve his son happiness and innocence while inside a concentration camp. The show really deals with hope and hopelesenes, innocence and guilt in such a strong and refreshing way.
So I have a few things to say about this series. I have not read the comics, but now I want to. When I saw the 'pinkie twitch', it scared me a bit because I have a pinky twitch due to my tremors, NOT the plague! And Bobby...no. Just, no. Get him outta here! I get it tho. You wanna throw the chibi in for kid appeal. Whatever. I'm over it. Otherwise great show. Bring on the rise of the furry children!
You guys think this movie is a joke, there were hybrids in biblical times during the days of noah. Wake up sheep, this hybrid will come back, turn only to Jesus. Man can’t save you!
I think this is going to be one that is well reviewed early and then people realize it isn't very good. I'd say the first 3 or so episodes were legitimate, but after that everything sort of went off the rails. The acting was spotty at best, the pacing was awful in the final 2 or 3 episodes, the make up (with the exception of gus) looked really bad in the final episode, the kids literally just looked like they had cheap costumes on, etc. The biggest issue, however, is that the show didn't really feel like it knew what it was. The comic is much darker and the show sort of hopped back and forth between truly horrific things and almost a goofy feeling. I was super high on it after three episodes and even enjoyed the rest of the season and then I rewatched. I won't say that it is terrible/bad, but it is mediocre in the current world of television/streaming. It's more of a 6/7 out of 10 than anything. Just in terms of Netflix originals, there are like 30 shows that blow it out of the water.
"EVeryone has the virus already" I was wondering about that. So just like 'The Walking Dead'. I stopped watching that show once it became apparent that there was no cure and never would be. That the show was just about a repeating loop of a sequence of events. Hopefully this show isnt pulling my foot on some same bull. They better end up finding a cure or ending the species just like in "Planet of the Apes' (not the Walhberg one that made no sense or the original that I only seen parts of but the new trilogy that was actually pretty good).
Try to read the graphic novel of the walking dead. Its more about restoring society with new norms now that they can't find a cure. Its better than the show.
well seeing as this one activates randomly i feel like all of the humans will be gone and it'll just be about the kids trying to rebuild society.. and if they do find a cure it might be something really unexpected like those flowers or something.. i also stopped watching the walking dead though for different reasons (the Nixon part just dragged on for too long for me )
I think the adaptation is better than the source material, but the source material is good, too. I don't want to denounce or diminish accomplished with Sweet Tooth. His work on Descender got me into comics a few years back! But, yeah, Sweet Tooth is a better show than comic.
3:00 in the Netflix show its not the prohecy of crazy dad, but actual phropecy dreams where Gus sees real people and events he shouldn't have no idea of, e.g. General
