I came to RU-vid looking to know what happens after season 1 in Netflix and then got my mind blown at seeing the story is way more complex and darker. Even the graphic style is very rough , raw and violent compared to the sweet images on Netflix. thanks for this videos ! I will watch them all but still, I feel like I need the graphic novel!

Immediately noticed how doe like Jeppards wife is - strange that they drew her like that - made me think she might be Gus' mom - way better than the Netflix adaptation - thanks for yr time and efforts putting these novels on my radar- kinda forgot how the stories can place us inside as spectators

That’s my sentiment on the art as well. It’s not beautiful, it’s very “sketchy”, it wouldn’t be in my top 10 list art wise. But it does fit the feel of the story.
Have you read Rising Stars? I remember of reading long time ago. It's with super heroes, but they got their power by a comet at birth and been raised by the government.

People saying the art is ugly or bad clearly are pretty ignorant about art It’s stylised It’s not bad art, he’s a good artist and the point of the art looking this way is it fits the grim gritty morbid tone of the story and setting
Very interesting mystery with Gus being the Adam of the new world his pops was spewing in his hypnosis. Was hopping the old dudes kid survived though kinda sad.
Chapter 22(?) Gus' fathers name changes from Richard Fox to Richard Faunin. This 2 protagonists are almost similar to The Boys. Gus is exactly like Hughie & Jep is exactly like Butcher. Also no explanation is given for Becky (Pretty Girl) and Gus hooking up, when Wendy the pig girl was his projected love interest... Becky even teases Wendy about it in later chapters. A few missing plotholes, a little convoluted. But nonetheless, entertaining.
I don’t understand the Richard Fox vs. Richard Faunin thing. I recently re-read all of Sweet Tooth for these videos, and see no reason for the name change. Lemire also flips back and forth, refers to him as Fox, and then Faunin and then back to Fox. I don’t know if I’m missing something, some meaning behind the name, it makes no sense to me.
I’ve never got into Spawn or The Darkness. I’ve seen a few comments about both series though, so it leads me to think I should maybe check them out. At least maybe the intro volumes. I just have too many other books I want to do tho.
@@dannymalt Spawn the animated series was good but the comics got a bit confusing to keep up with and same with the darkness series . Still pretty good characters though , motivated by revenge . But .... Not as good as Invincible .
Ive never actually heard of that series. Anything pre-2000 has to have lots of accolades or it’s a little bit of a blind spot to me. You would recommend it?
