M15 flies to nest. (look left of screen) He starts feeding the babies. The intruder arrives from the opposite direction (look right of screen). She is interested in food. She pilfers in the nest grasses. M protects E21 and warns the intruder. When she doesn't leave he continues feeding E21. The intruder does move around and kicks E22 in a effort to make him move so she can get any nestovers that may be under him. From the looks on the right talon, this appears to be the same intruder from yesterday, who has been hanging around the pasture and perching in the nest tree for a few days. E22 bravely mantles in defensive mode. Fortunately she does not challenge M15 and will eventually, voluntarily, fly away.Thanks for watching!

She is so bold. I feel bad she is injured and looking for an easy meal but hate her kicking the eaglets and putting them in jeopardy if there is a scuffle. I can’t believe how this season started with a major hurricane and then Harriet vanishes. Every day is a gift. Stay strong M, we all love you. 💪❤

@seventhday is sabbath. An animal needing help is one thing but being aggressive in another bird’s nest + stealing food & kicking the babies bc they try to defend it - is something else. However I saw on a video today and apparently she can hunt or got road kill bc she flew back to a branch on the tree with a small animal that she plucked & ate to herself. She didn’t take her food to the nest to share with the babies. So this female is not nice at all. She’s a whole problem to this family. My heart goes out to M.

@@jazzsea2315 Ok.... I only commented on e22 having heart and grit (being a tough little guy) I said nothing about the intruder... I try not to put human emotion to what the eagles do, they don't think and act like humans but have instinct to survive, that's why it's easy for them or other raptor birds to steal babies off nests to eat. Not sure if you saw last season the live baby hawk that was stolen off it's nest and brought to an eagles nest? I think it was in Canada that it happened, that hawk ended up being a part of the eagle family and was fed and nurtured till it fledged the nest.. We can never know what is really going on in the eagles mind??
@btricksey

@@jazzsea2315 Being 'nice' is a (mostly) human term. This female is not being 'not nice' because she is mean or she hates these eaglets (she could have hurt them, badly but didn't - for us it was ugly behaviour, agree) This female is not their momma. This female did not have those hormonal changes in her body that would dictate her 'being a nice mom'. You can see on these C's and videos: for all free wild animals, for all free bald eagles life and survival is a daily battle. Nothing is guaranteed. So for them having emotions like compassion or empathy would absolutely cost their lives. It's a hard world for them, even without us, humans. Similarly E21 'not being nice' to E22: it's a case of ' I'm first-born, I eat first.' rule all bald eagle nests ruled by. On some nests the rivalry is gentle and negligible whereas on other nests the rivalry takes its saddest form in siblicide. E21 is bald eagle and behaves like one. So does E22 and also the female eagle. It's their world that we are observing, at times incredibly difficult, I agree. Hopefully the 'Nasty Lady' will start to get enough food on her own so she doesn't need to raid the nest for easy meals. They are opportunistic predators, never forget. Ps: you have a kind heart, otherwise wouldn't be upset 💛

I have watched to see which intruder this is. The camera monitor took a long look at the talons in the beginning of the video. She is hungry no doubt. She does put her talons on each one of the eaglets but does not bother them again. It did encourage 22 to get up to his dad for food finally. She seemed to merely observe the feeding process. She and M chortled a bit in the beginning as if they were talking to each other. We don’t know eagle speech but they settled down after that. She seemed to almost brood 22. A bit later, M came back with a fish. HE BOWED HIS HEAD for a minute or three, with FI watching. Then he started feeding 21. FI came in.. to get fed by M. 21 was in the way- he got a foot on him, but nothing much, really. Remember, she can disembowel both Es without much effort. M then ate voraciously for about a minute. Feeding continued, with 22 getting his share, and a full crop. FI, who was not fed, appeared to be standing sentry. She had moved away a bit, and was watching the sky. She flew off before 22’s feeding was over.

I hope more desperate enough to go find another food source. This family doesn't have many nestovers because both eaglets have been trying to self feed. In my opinion, M15 doesn't want to confront miss fatal attraction because he risks getting injured doing so. Unfortunately, she seems to be calling his bluff and thinks he is a pushover. The entire family is in danger in this situation because she is about bigger than all three put together. Desperation makes the intruder too unpredictable because her instinct for self preservation is making her place her needs before those of this family, which is her primary source of food. I also think that the people who were leaving food for M15 may have caused her to think she should stick around because there was food everywhere when she was watching for opportunities to get to the nest. Poor M15 might lose his eaglets because it doesn't appear that she plans to hunt to provide for herself. She has been studying the sturdy nest not damaged in the recent storm, the nest's location, and M15 is the good male attached to the established nest. The perfect package and the only obstacles are the eaglets. I have a hard time believing she has persisted this long without becoming more determined to get what she wants. Especially if she was responsible for Harriet's disappearance - the first move in her chess long game.

Well, I happen to catch this after the fact when I just went back to see what I had missed and I also read it on the Pritchett’s updates and I hurried and went to where it was on the live cam and saw it and she knew better then to piss Magnificent M off caus he surly was gonna go off on her like nobody’s business! However, he stayed cool and calm which actually shocked me but I think I understand why he did that, cause his kids were right in the middle of it and she was very close to E21 I believe cause M was feeding 22 at the time. However, she went to kick 21 and that is what got dad upset but however, all was still calm and she then went to the top of the tree and eventually must have been gotten rid of by dad. I was getting ready to panic but I watched it completely and I was so pleased with 22 cause he surly is getting quite brave these days and it is good for him too cause he is smaller then his sister even though he does seem to be sprouting quite good. I swear, this ding song of a female Eagle is such a pain in my a- - that I would be thrilled if dad would just literally wing slap her into the next millennium! I also thank the Lord and dad M that the E’s are still doing awesome. God bless this Eagle family and Harriett is still out there to be found. Hugs and love to you all and the SWFL Eagle people too. Intruder is injured, but so bold, or perhaps desperate. Hope she finds food and heals. In the meantime, she shouldn't be kicking the eaglets. What if our sweet Harriette doesn't return, this intruder could become the nest love interest for M15. Prayers for M15 to continue doing the wonderful job is has been, and for Harriette's safe return.

I've read a fair # of Posts below and seems likely this young Adult Eagle is injured to the extent of needing to find food to eat--having trouble hunting on it's own. Also might be the reason M 15 is not harsh with it--perhaps it's an earlier fledge from this Nest that he recognized. Perhaps CROW can set a baited Trap nearby, capture it and take it into it's Rescue Program and treat it.

He has been to the edge of the nest with his open wide to get fresh air and warmth I believe. Both E’s were great in that video. I do also hope they continue to be close sibs and no more fights too. They need each other so much and dad also needs his E’s too. Even though Magnificent15 does have it all together for sure. I am seriously puzzled by something, maybe someone can understand the situation better and explain; M flies in, intruder follows. After a few minutes, and after M seeing intruder giving the boot to both his eaglets he still carried on eating/ offering bites to e21. 🤷‍♀️ Normally eagles will not start eating until they feel safe that any steal-scenario is diffused - this behaviour can be observed from a young age of say 8-10 weeks old. I'm very confused about M's seemingly 'relaxed' response would love to know why. He is sharp, he is super-protective, he is fearless; definitely not negligent. So I am really puzzled by what we are seeing. (Don't want to go into guessing, like he maybe knows this intruder - being maybe a previous offspring, or he is showing her how things are done, teaching her, etc. as these are all just speculation.) Very interesting, fascinating to observe but absolutely gut-wrenching about the safety and welfare of the little ones (even M). Raptors' talons are already full of bacteria and she has that very nasty injury...she MUST stop kicking around with that. She needs help:'(
