My new H110 runs 4-5 degrees cooler then my old H100 on 4670k@4.8ghz, both on stock fans and mx-4.You should get at least 5-6 degrees improvement with the H220x,maybe more, probably the paste holds it back a little.
I love this cooler, but had some of the same issues with the fan mounting and pump noise. Bleeding air was also crazy difficult/impossible. I do disagree with that last few points though. I found the fans to be much better than my corsair sp 120s (noise) and rosewill hyperboreas (performance) but I have them in exhaust/pull so that may be the difference. I actually did expand mine already with a 120 ut 60 and 2x 7950s and have noticed that the pump speed has a much greater effect on the gpu temps than fan speed. That said, I much prefer doing all of my speed tweaking in software so i don't have to open my case for any adjustments.
Nice review, but I'm looking for something smaller say in the 120mm single rad range for a mid range AMD A-10 APU MicroATX gaming system, that won't break the bank(under $100), so any suggestions would be nice.
