No one puts more time in explaining the best baits & rod & reels, than tacticalbassin, why would you listen to any other, these guys know their stuff! Thanks Matt!🎣
Glad to hear someone else who throws only swimbaits on swimjigs. I never understood the craw trailer thing. If I want a bait to swim , it’s getting a swimbait.
I think some do it because they can just slow down and fish it on the bottom when they don't bite it will it swims they don't have to tie on another jig. And then if they need to they can still put a swim bait on it. I think so far the swim jig has gotten me more consistent big bass than any other lure or bait I've thrown. But so far it's just been with a swim bait on the back for me. And I think I'll keep it that way. No sense in changing what works for me. If I'ma throw a craw I'll t-rig.
To quote Will Gere in Jeremiah Johnson...YOU NAILED 'ER CLEAN! Thanks for simplifying and saving us the trouble with hours of experimentation. Dirty Jigs and Missile...I'm all in, don't try to tempt me with any others, I mean it!
Thanks Matt. Glad you came around to the lighter swim jigs. This is where I live and alot of the country also. I still think your missing out not using any craw trailers but maybe it's just geographic conditions.
First of all, before I even watch this video. GREAT ARTICLE in the MLF Bass Magazine in regards to Swimbaits. Very well presented, simplified and to the point, Excellent Job Guys! THANKS
Surprised to not see the 6th Sense braid swimjig on here! It has a screw lock keeper and paired with a 3.5 largo shad, it shakes and shimmys like crazy and draws the attention of the big ones!
I love the gill pattern kvd swimjigs with a 360gt swimbait body on the back it's such a beautiful imitation of that gill we all look for and the bass here in New York absolutely go nuts for it. Also been getting into throw a weighted bladed 4/0 trokar hook with the kvd swim-n-shiner swimbait on it I caught a fat 5lber about 3-4wks ago here in NY while it was still pretty cold 🤘🏻🤘🏻 I've learned so much watching this channel
Swim Jig fishing, WITHOUT the crazy rod movement?! This is the JUICE we need! Thanks for all of the knowledge Matt. Going to have to buy the finesse swim jig with the Swammer. That bait, I just used for the first time today on a Beast hook and man does that thing LOOK GOOD. Can't wait to have it on a swimbait.
Man I always learn so much with your videos. It's very clear how passionate you are on fishing experience. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work your one of the best on you tube. Till the next one .primo
I say this each year the yum pulser Is a great swim jig trailer , foil and the gill are the best . Really gets 2nd 3rd action to it . Next is the largo for me because I can make it dart out and come back .
There is one you may not know about. It is built in Canada but sold a lot in Florida. Company name is Weapons of Bass Destruction. Amazing swim jig. Best colour trailer here is the sprayed grass small skinny dipper. Hands down the best along with the bluegill Rage Menace. We have a ton of Gills here so the strike king bluegill skirt is all you need. Incredible
Though it’s not what people generally think of when they think of a swimjig. I really dig the Zman Midwest finesse swim jig. It’s got the perfect weedguard and a lighter that normal wire hook similar to that of the SMH jighead and same keeper. What I really like about it is it’s heavy enough for a medium action baitcaster but still gets in the thicker grass just fine. I really like pairing a baby goat on the It and just burning it though grass and even wood.
I just picked those up to try as a BFS Swim jig. I'm thinking about trying a Strike Kng Ned Rage cut'r. I used it on the Z man minimax chatterbait and it worked great.
@@cameronpoulton9490 I use the Zman baby goat, slim swimz,3 inch zman grubz and trd Bugs as a sort of chunk trailer. But I think the yum craw chunk in the smaller size would be a great choice as well!
Great video of much needed info I will be using the next day I’m out. I bought the California swim jig with gambler trailer and I can tell you it makes a difference
Whenever y’all mention working with a designer on something new or that so and so improvised and that turned into a product what I really want is about 90 minutes of history lesson on lure and bait innovations in the 90s and 00s. Pretty please?
You should do an in depth sit down seminar style video specifically for Pond fishing. I’d bet that a large amount if not majority of your viewers are probably either younger kids/guys without boats trying to learn as much as possible about fishing. Us bank/pond fisherman don’t have a lot of information directed at us.
I know swim jigs are a shallow water technique, but as of late I've seen videos of guys using a swim jig out deep. Have you done that and what style and weight would you choose and the trailers as well. You guys have upped my fishing and tournament finishes. Your knowledge is incredible. Thank you for all your efforts to get us proper information
My goto has always been strike king tour grade swim jig 3/8 bluegill with 3.75 rage swimmer green pumpkin. Agree on avoiding keitech trailer the rage swimmer makes it flares and roll nice like you described!
I like the soapbox history lesson we need more of those for documented fishing history keep up the great work I actually did the same thing Put my rod down And reeled a Wally diver and caught a bunch of Saugeye At a dam at the location where a wall below the dam fell off but the actual wall is a ledge you can walk on this wall I call it was a great place for fish to ambush prey
I really only use 4 trailers for bluegill colors I use a rage menace or rage craw for Shad colors I use a easy shiner or swing impact I know you guys love the dirty jigs I wish you would design a jig like the trash master one of the best jig designs I’ve ever seen
I’m going to be the possible odd man out. I use a standard football or round head jig with a swim bait trailer. Its been amazing how well it works and I don’t have to buy a different swim jig head. As you know necessity is the mother of invention. I ran out of swim jig heads one day. Ended up using the jigs I had in the boat.
I always use the strike king tour grade swim jig 3/8 sun gill with a Houdini little dipper trailer with great success, I admit that I have to work my rod a little
Florida girl here! You sold me on the California Swim Jig and the gambler trailer! Going to buy a few now! I love your passion for fishing! Thanks for the awesome content Matt!!! 🙌🎣💪 #1tacticalbassinfan
You gave me inspiration to make a lure in 2 colors and uses several different types trailers, there is definitely a place in the market for it but not sure how to get it mass produced so guess I'm going to keep em to myself unfortunately. Thx for the inspiration to do something lil different I seen wasn't available in any local store. Thx guys!! 🙏
Wow Matt, that was an excellent video!!! One of the best tutorials I've seen so far. Not a load of jig heads or trailers either just about six. If fishing areas where say 2 to 5 lbs. are caught would you use the finesse swim jigs and in the rivers as well?? I like using the swim jig and glad to learn more about how to use them the proper way!!! Thanks again!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
A fantastic job on the breakdown of the Swim Jig ! Thanks for opening my eyes to a few things I did not know about the Dirty Jig lineup. I actually live in Valdosta Ga which is about 40 minutes from the Dirty Jigs office. I'm going to try and go visit them. Love using those jigs when I'm in Central Florida where I have been fishing a lot lately. I do have a question : Do you rig the Swimbait trailer with paddle tale pointing down or up ? Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Been watching and learning for years.
Morning Matt, you absolutely had me LOL the whole time in this video. You definitely Geek out when it comes to anything jig related. 😅 Im in need of some advice I live in California and want to use swim jigs on these deeper clear reservoirs but struggle with where and when deep shallow, colors. Any recommendations on Don Pedro & McClure with swim jigs... Thanks for all your helpfull videos, you both have changed the fishing game for weekend anglers like me.
I finally caught my first swim jig fish after a summer fall and late winter of fishing this spring. It was on a dead fall while I was picking out a back lash immediately after casting 😂. Followed up on a second Biggin with the same technique. Hopefully I have some confidence in the lure now to keep it going.
Man I love the D-Walker but I wish they had more colors. You ever use the Jenko Booty Shaker for a bigger profile trailer? It's awesome. They come in 3.5", 4", 5" and 6".
Hey Matt- just a bit of thanks to you for your recommendations on those finesse swim jigs. I absolutely slayed them tonight at the local pond on the Missile Baits/Swammer combo 💰. Oh and the Orochi helped too!😅
Great information. I got frustrated with swim jigs because the skirt would always just stick to the bait. Going to buy what you listed and give it another go.
@@tacticalbassinFew months later and wanted to come back to this. I bought exactly what you mentioned and caught fish that same day. Specifically the Dirty Jigs finesse swim jig and 3.5 largo shad. I now own multiple and use them all the time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
