We spent the dream holiday in the south of Portugal. We spent the first few days visiting different beaches. Our favourite was Praia do Camilo and Praia de Sao Roque, where we also had a delicious lunch at Linda the Beach bar. I had a Cesar salad, but I also tried mussels for the first time. Safe to say the experience didn’t go as planned, but nothing a cold white wine sangria can’t fix.
On day three we visited Faro, a historic city with charming cobbled streets, a lively port and good food scene. We had a selection of Mediterranean food for lunch, accompanied by Portuguese sausages and of course, Sangria.
On day four, we visited the city centre of Lagos. We went souvenir shopping, they got our dinner ingredients from the local fish market. We rented a flat so we had all the comfort of our own home, plus a beautiful pool, which meant that some nights, like tonight, we were able to cook and enjoy a glass of white port and alfresco dining by the pool.
On day five we ventured onto the sea, taking a boat tour of the coves and a kayaking trip alongside the coast.
For our last night in Lagos, we had dinner at a seafood restaurant in the city centre. I had grilled sea bream, while my family had calamari and fish calderia which is a stew made with different kinds of muscles and fish.
Thank you for the memories Lagos!
