It sucks that this show had to end. This is still my most favorite show. I wish Jeremy would come back and go for one more season

I've personally raised many of these fish. They're not murderous or killers. They essentially serve the same function and operate on the same level as sharks in the ocean. They're the clean-up crew. If there's something dead or dying, they take care of it. The fact is, very few people have been attacked or killed by these fish, far fewer than by sharks, but that doesn't stop people from trying to portray them as something they're not for the sake of a TV show or movie. People who live with these fish in the Amazon actually view them as a good food fish and eat them regularly. Having said that, if they're really hungry and you do something stupid, you might soon wish you hadn't. Unlike sharks' teeth, piranha teeth are fixed extensions of the jaw itself and meet perfectly with the opposite jaw like a pair of razor sharp scissors. And their jaws are powerful enough to push those teeth right threw flesh, bone and sinew. I've seen them do it during my feedings. Sobering, yet fascinating to watch. These fish serve an important role in their ecosystem and deserve respect. If you're in a place that allows them, I would highly encourage any experienced aquarium hobbyist to give them a try. They're beautiful. If you have a large enough tank, with sufficiently thick glass, snake head cichlids are another species that are really fantastic. Just be careful when you feed them, and try not to be freaked out when they stalk you through the glass. They don't mean anything by it, really.

This has got to be the most iconic River Monsters clip. This remember first watching this when I was like 5 thinking Jeremy was insane. I was so shocked at the way the Piranhas reacted.

Just to let everyone know Piranhas rarely attacks humans, the only time these fish gets aggressive is during the dry season and in summer when most of their main food sources are gone resulting them to extreme hunger and they have no other choice but to take a bite anything that's moving too much especially an injury or open wounds.

If he had an open wound, and was flailing about they would get him. He already knew that though, he is causing no vibrations in the water.

This is so accurate. I was in Panama and had a trip planned to swim with sharks. Started my period that morning and they paid no attention to me. Went snorkeling the next day, came face to face with a barracuda, it did nothing. Marine life gets a bad reputation. I love this clip.
