Swimming with wild dolphins was such a memorable experience. Each time I watch this video, I have a hard time comprehending that the woman swimming beside this pod of dolphins is actually me. A dream come true, for those of you who know me. Before travelling to Hawaii, I'd never swam with wild dolphins, and had only seen them up close a handful of times. This is the only way I'll interact with them, ever again. Swimming beside them as they squeak, play, sleep (seriously, they have the ability to shut off half their brain in order to rest), display their acrobatic talents and affectionately interact with the members of their family pod. There were even a few that swam within reach to get a good look at me. No need to touch them, though (I'll never understand the incessant need to touch and disturb wildlife...). It was so much more than enough to simply be in their presence... the presence of beauty, grace and undeniable intelligence.
A HUGE bucket list check mark for me, and memories I'll surely hold close for the rest of my life!
