Rodney "Skeet" Curtis's bassline from "Swing Down" (part of "Mothership Connection") at Parliament/Funkadelic's live 1978 show at Houston, TX. Check out the original video - it's in my Favorites. This is a great one to groove on for hours while practicing your octaves.
First is a short playalong (with some variations), second is a slowed down version, and third has the guitar part added just for fun. Despite being a pretty straightforward bassline, the bass/guitar parts have great interlocking going on.
The 1978 Houston show was about the funkiest version of Swing Down they ever played, thanks in no small part to Skeet's bass. Fans sometimes downplay this one because Glenn had left, but don't sleep on it! It's sublime and transcendent in a completely unique way. They really got the audience grooving together that night.
