Thanks for a great video, I just bought one and I am looking forward to using it this up coming spring. I hope I don't ever need to replace the bearings but now I know how to do it. I see you like bow hunting (on your shirt) I bow hunt a little but my passion is Bighorn Sheep hunting (for 35 years). Thanks from Canada, for a clearly explained, well done video.
Your welcome and thank you for the support of my channel all the way up in Canada. Yes I love to bow hunt but I love hunting in general. lol. Big horn sheep is on my bucket list. Sounds like its your passion with 35 years under your belt. Thanks again for watching and check out our hunting video playlist. You might get a kick out of us rednecks hunting deer.
I have to replace the idler wheel and bearing I just can't keep belts on it. Using Kevlar belts and figured might as well see what it takes to replace the other one. Thanks for the video. Surprised to see no grease in the hub and sealed bearings
The first time I did the bearings I was surprised when it was sealed bearing also. You will like the Kevlar belt. Thanks for watching and good luck on yours.
Would like to get one of these mowers so this is useful information. Much appreciated. Do you recommend these mowers for bush hogging small areas. All the best.
Yes I would recommend them for small acreage and field edging. The rough cut is better than the finish mower for doing a field. With The finish mower you have to mow the field just like you would your yard once a week. But with the rough cut you can bush hog when you want to just don’t pull it to fast. They are awesome for trails and field edges. Thank you for watching.
I just took mine apart but there are some differences. 1. Mine doesnt have a bolt going thru, it has a nut on top and a nut on bottom. 2. that shaft (you have a bolt) will NOT come out. Therefore, I cant dismantle the assembly to expose the bad bearings. I tried putting in a press to press out shaft...nothing. Any ideas?
Dang man that's crazy. Well if you cant get it apart I would suggest getting a new shaft and bearings. I found a kit on ebay for mine when I messed up my shaft. I would look it up by your model number. Keep me posted on how it goes.
It seems as though the pulley and blades can spin independently since there are no key ways to keep things from that. So it is just how tight you can crank together. Any torque spec on the big nut on top of pulley or just tight as I can get it??
I have been checking since last night and everywhere I'm looking they are currently unavailable. I would check with your local napa store. They have got me a upgraded version from the gates belts before. I usually get is a D&D Belt part # ba50
They no longer offer the ones that I got but here is what they replaced them with amzn.to/2XQmwTs I have always heard that timken bearings are the best but they are super expensive. Your welcome and thanks for watching.
Justin D. Jack I haven’t had that issue. I have replaced bearing twice on mine. I used lock tight on mine the time before and I also replaced the washer on top and bottom with new spacers. Then torqued it down until it was tight. Maybe the spacers are wore down not allowing it to pull tight. I would inspect the spacers and wagers for wear and maybe replace them.
Swisher recommends that you replace the nut each time you remove it, I wish i had known this before i replaced my bearings because mine is doing the same thing. A new one is on the way and i`ll also be using locktite this time.
sasquatch769 I have always used lock tire also but I have always reused the same bolts when replacing my blades. But your right to be safe it would probably be better to use new bolts. Thanks for watching
The Kevlar belt holds up a lot better than the gates. I usually had to put 4 belts on a year after i installed the Kevlar belt i only changed it twice the next year. I highly recommend them.
