The mobile construction site bridge used in Switzerland is an incredible project. When technology and engineers' skills come together, something great comes out. This bridge allows work to be done without interrupting traffic flow. In our video, we talk about the Astra Bridge in Switzerland. Please subscribe to our channel and like the video.
The ASTRA Bridge is a mobile construction site bridge used during highway maintenance work. While road works are being done below, traffic can flow over the bridge in two lanes at a speed of 60 km/h. In this way, work can be done during the day without the need to close any lanes or direct traffic.

China will probably laugh at the Swiss. The 18 hours to set up the bridge is longer than the time they need to repair the road.

It must be an absolute nightmare for the road workers who have to work under that bridge. Not only they have to endure the toxic fumes of the hot asfalt, but they are constantly pounded by the terrible noise of the traffic above. This looks like hell on earth.

China would indeed be shocked. If Chinese construction companies adopt this practice of wasting time and increasing working hours, most Chinese people would question whether there is a transfer of benefits between the government and the winning bidder. Because only half of the road needs to be closed and the other half is temporarily open to two-way traffic, the road construction can be completed in a very short time. This practice of wasting time and increasing working hours only benefits the construction companies and workers, but it obviously wastes the people's tax money. Therefore, the Chinese people will definitely question whether the government has chosen this construction method in order to collude with the winning bidder and steal money from the treasury.

@beyondEV
@beyondEV 2 месяца назад

close the lanes at night with super low traffic.... allows the workers to work in the dayling. rain or shine, safer. they have to make fewer trips to the job site. which means they are not renting the paving equipment as long. less hours paid to workers. is it enough to offset the 10k+ dollars a day cost of the bridge? i dont know. i do not know the cost of all of what they do. i do like that it is safer.. and being done in daylight helps a lot for quality. and safety.

In Vienna (high traffic on the highways) they have roughly the same - for many years now whenever they need this. They call it the "Fly-over system". They can also work under the rolling traffic, maybe to repair bridge connections, where a bridge connects to the road that would go over the bridge. These connections need repair from time to time or it gets too bumpy with too much stress to the cars, trucks - and to the bridges.

to all those who doubt it: to the Suisse situation, this is the optimum. They don’t want the cars to use deviations, they want to keep up a certain throughput and nit close the road, and they don’t want to work during the night nor close the road overnight. Switzerland is a small country and they avoid impact on economy and infrastructure by using this solution. I use these bridges often when traveling through. It still causes significant traffic jams.

Nice piece of engineering. The Chinese develop many superb solutions. Besides an abundance of excellent engineers, the advantage of China is lower costs through scale, state owned companies work cheaper, less regulation is needed. When you privatize state companies to corporations, government employees stay but in stead of creating cost effective useful services and goods, they produce regulations. Corporations use the monopoly position to drive up prices. The high profits allowed the Chinese to undercut them in the international market. High profits is not power, it is inefficiency, basically extreme capital costs.

Why is it only for use in daylight hours? Youd think they could mount a battalion of lights on the underside.

In China, the road could have been repaired and opened to traffic in the time it took to build a bridge. :D

This is very shocking because in China, bridges take about the same amount of time as roads, if not more.

12-18 hours installation time, maybe another 12 hrs to dismantle, not downtime ?

Sri Lankan engineers are shocking the whole world by building a 15km road for 5 years. Orugodawatta to Kaduwela.

While the bridge is being assembled, China will repair the road in the same amount of time overnight. You can't compare them. They will send 10 times more equipment and people there. Like, a terribly short stretch in the video, only one and a half lane repair. Why didn't the engineers do this to fix both lanes? That would be far better and more efficient.

Why don't they just use the 18 hours they have stopped the traffic for to repair the road?

This exemplifies a huge economic distortion. When labor and traffic inconvenience has become so expensive that making crazy complex equipment is actually cheaper than just shutting down the road and having 100 men get it done. They could've made this equipment 50 years ago, but inflation hadn't pushed labor way up the scale to make it feasible.

Don't think they could. Problem is, how do you drive something of this size, with that many wheels, without modern computer tech. Wouldn't really be possible. Also no accident, that it was developed in Switzerland: we don't have much reserves in terms of road capacity.

Did you understand the idea? No This Bridge moves each day to the next section and can repair hundreds of km after build once...18h is just nothing for this huge advantage.
