In this video we take a 1943 Walnut stocked K31 and some 1984 production GP11 to the tower for some fun and comical banter at 611 yards. These rifles still represent some of the most accurate surplus rifles on the market although the prices have trickled up over the years just like anything else. Stay tuned guys, much more on the way.

We still use K31s for sports shooting at 300 meters with normal iron sights here in Switzerland. It's one of the best rifles ever made for a nations army.

Yeah sure is if your army consist of 300 guys and you stay out of every war so you can maintain the quality in rifles and not have to worry about making something that is fit for proper mass production.

Dear verycreativ = You're a cretin - you obviously don't know sh*t about how the Swiss defense system works! Google it. It took me 90 seconds to find out the numbers of K-31 produced, and you're out by 3-4 orders of magnitude. But don't worry about facts - just sprout off your big, fat mouth.

The Swiss makes unbelievable accurate ammo for their military rifles. Our army (Dutch) uses Swiss Ruag 'T' stamped 5,56 Nato ammo for our Diemaco's and Minimi's (2006 manufactured). I pulled a bunch apart and weight the powder charge, bullet and case. And the consistency is amazing. I shot a few over the chronograph and the everage bullet speed was 928 m/s with a spread of 6 m/s. Shot out of my NM accurized AR15, it shot 0.80 MOA groups at 100 meters. I used that ammo at a 600 yards match (prone, slow fire and no bench) and I won the match with a group size of 30 centimetres (12 inches? ). I wish that ammo was sold to the public, because the only Swiss RUAG ammo we can but is the 55 grain and the expensive 69 grain ammo. The Swiss really know what they are doing.

Michael was okay, way overrated though and he was very predictable on the court. Now, LARRY BIRD however was a legend among men and probably the best shooter that ever played. Many pros have said they'd rather have to guard Jordan than Bird. Also Lebron James is on record saying Bird was better than Lebron James. Bird totally undefeated against Jordan in playoffs after like, i forget, 4 or 5 playoff seasons

Behind Enemy lines...yeah..that would b epic! Believe Eric shoots a little better than Chad & with this said- maybe let Chad have the best shooter on each match, but one. One of the 3 match ups let Eric have the best shooter & in any of the match ups...each man can only have a dozen shots to find range/target with...then 10 rounds a piece for each match up. Awesome list of guns& would b well worth watching! #MAKE IT HAPPEN ERIC & CHAD!!

yeah that Martini Henry video suckered me into buying one :) lol it seems to be in really good shape though no pitting under the barrel at all ( had me nervous after looking at some of the pic's on google) it doe's have a cracked butt stock at the bottom, but it was repaired.... looks pretty good... now I just need some ammo lol.... I wish they would of made this video first, from what I see these rifle's sale for $340? I only bought the Martini because the MK IV was normally $625 untouched... they went on sale for a few day's for $475.... couldn't resist... but damn now I see this... so many great gun's.... not enough money :(

These are great. I have a suggestion. Place the camera above and directly behind the shooter. We'll see the trace and get a good idea of where the rounds are impacting. At the current angle, we have no good perception of where the rounds are landing relative to the target.

SomeBloke8895 I have a m1917, Eddystone model, and it's probably the most accurate old milsurp gun I own. With good ammo and a nice day, it groups fantastic at 300 on down. Never had it to 600, don't have a place I can stretch it that far yet. I also have a 1942 Remington 1903, but that silly thing isn't much more than a conversation piece..shoots about a foot right at 100, not sure what the hell happened to it.

At 600 yds you gotta aim low, the iron sights are calibrated at >300m to headshot a "dog" target with a hold on the bottom line. This is so the shooter can fully see what they are shooting at. Also, polymer clips are better for the money nowadays

This might help a lot in cost savings. In any zeroing in of anything you shoot, get a very small target, and place it 30 yards from you. Shoot 3 rounds, to make a group. Check your target, and adjust to zero. Do 3 groups of 3 shots. It eliminates cross wind, and a lot of walking. You’ll get a much better average of what you, and your rifle are capable of. Then start adding yards, 100, 200, 300, and on up to your desired distances.

Fascinating to see everyone all going on about shooting other rifles at 600 yards. Shocking revelation incoming: Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfields, Mauser 98s, Springfield 1903, Mosin-Nagants, and even flipping Mannlicher 1895s all were rated to hit man-sized targets at 600 yards over iron-sights. They would do the job fine. That was what they were made for. I really am not sure what people expect to happen other than to see see excellent riflemen like Chad quickly start landing hit after hit. Oh wait...

Let's get a K11 vs K31 @ 600yd. I'd like to see how much of a difference that extra ~2" of barrel makes on the K31 compared to the higher quality of craftsmanship of the K11. Also, Eric, it's a 2 stage trigger, not a Mosin ;).. those stripper clips are actually up to $15-20 online now. I bought four to go with my K11 just to have 'em and it nearly cost me a Benjamin... spare mag cost me nearly $200. Gotta get these rifles and their accessories while ya can, they're not getting cheaper.

Are you sure that you were 600 metres away and not 600 yards away from the target (judging by the title)? 600 yards in metres is approximately 548.64 metres, therefore your shots obviously landed above the target when you sighted it in for 600 metres. When you eventually sighted it in for 500, the shots landed nearly 50 metres below the target. This error can easily be solved [through a very easy algebraic method] by multiplying the distance (yards) with 0.9144 to get the distance in metres. That could perhaps have saved you guys a few more rounds for your rifle. Eitherway, awesome video! ☺️

You need to get an M1 Garand out there... Just in case no one has ever said that before.

After 200m (from 300 ) aiming should be 6 o'clock (before 100m and 200m dead on) hence the difficulty to get it on target at the beginning This is by design of the sight for the swiss military qualification at 300m. keep up the good job. Best from Switzerland !

I love this channel, however claiming you can see that BLACK target at 600 meters , I call bullshit! If it was white, maybe, but NO fucking way at 600 yards or meters! Anyone who disagrees with this, I suggest you try. There is NO chance to see a black popper at 600 meters! Hilarious!

FYI iraqveteran8888 and anyone else, shot 7 I think, when the wind died down you can see the bullet impact the dirt what looks like directly behind the target on center. So if he would have adjusted to the right some it would have hit. Being a spotter wouldn't have seen it unless looking through the camera. That sucks because it would have been a field day after that. Love the 600 yard shooting guys, could watch all day long if I could!!!!!

Like the rapport on that gun. Thought about getting one but ammo availability and cost dissuaded me.

I have an all-matching, Beech-stocked K31 that I picked up before they became so popular. I think I paid around $70 for it. Still have a supply of GP11. When the weather warms up I will have to take the old gal out to the range.

I went to a gun show just before Christmas about 2 years ago, a guy had a whole table full of K31's for around $300 a piece. I was looking for a handgun that day and was on a limited budget so I decided I would get one some other time. I'm kicking myself every time I see a K31 now.

When you say the clips will work with a Krag, I asume you mean that lovely Norwegian 1912 Krag Carbine you have on your wall? As an American Krag uses rimmed ammo. Speaking of witch, When will we get to see you take that beautifull rifle out for a video?

i'd like to suggest revisiting the M1 Garand. i have had a little success at 1000 yards with one of mine and i bet you guys would have a blast out to as far as you can see. the m2 ball won't get out there that well, but the 168 National Match stuff can deliver solid hits at 1000 yards if ya do your part. get some.

I believe after 300 meters on a K31 you’re supposed to switch to a 6’clock hold. That way the front site doesn’t obstruct your target as much. The Swiss are really smart like that.

I have a K31. Great rifle and the issue GP11 ammo is match quality. Just a note - if you get over the shooter with a good pair of binoculars or spotting scope you will be able to observe the bullet "wash" as it moves through the air and the "splash" against the target. This will enable you to accurately spot the impact for the shooter.

Hey Eric and Chad, if you were to recommend any model of an SKS, which one would you recommend? (In regards to accuracy, reliability, etc.) Thanks, and keep up the great content!

You've just sold me on this rifle. I was going to go with a Mosin M39, but honestly I'm going to spend the extra $600 and grab one of these while I can. Plus they sell rail mounts for it.

Question for ya boys. I,ve got a K31 that I love to shoot but my old eyes are hating the iron sights. What's a good optic mount that won't break the bank? Any help would be appreciated...

Eric and Chad, why don't try to upgrade your k31with an original Diopter? In any cases what a beast!! This rifle has made history here in Switzerland...and around the world!

id think that if this rifle was sighted properly putting the sights on 600 and a 6 o clock hold would just crush it maybe um wrong with my thinking but most rifles back in those days were made for 6 o clock holds on targets because you dont want your sight covering up your target the sight is just to give you a point of reference while you sight in your eye :)

This might be something you've already covered, but I have a question. Isn't the K31 the same as the Schmidt-Jorgenson? If not what's the difference?

With my weak eyes and an iron sighted Mosin I have about as much fun at 100 yards as you guys do at 600. About everything you say in this vid, I've said at one time or another. Some targets and different guns/sights my eyes get fatigued after about 5 shots.

I'd love to see more of the old unmodified milsurp rifles take up milk jug challenge type of shooting the Utah group are famous for. In fact the fellow from California that holds the record for open sight milsurp uses a K31.

I've got into guns 6 months after GP11 disappeared from the market. Wanted a K31 since that day. But no pristine rifles left, no ammo left. FML :(
