This video will be on a pair of combat boots I’ve been wearing for the last week and recently acquired for you guys to give you options on for me. These boots were adopted in the 90’s to replace the anchor boots and double buckle boots in use with the Swiss army through the Cold War. These are immaculately constructed in usual Swiss fashion with lots of innovative new space features blended with tried and tested features from previous generations. The things I like about this boots are the nice stainless steel hardware, the leather vamp flaps to protect the top of the foot, and Germanic foot style lasts which are a little wider which mean I fit in a regular size. My biggest issue with these boots are the mid and outsoles which are just to squishy and bouncy for me and they squeak. If you have any experience with these let me know in the comments Ide also like to see what you think about these boots and what your favorite pair of boots fielded by any military is. Hopefully you liked this video and subscribed if you like this sort of stuff. Please leave a comment with any questions, additional information, or suggestions for future videos and I will do my best to answer them. As always thanks for watching,
Thank you,
Devin K.

I'm a former Sergeant Major of Swiss Army and know both types of boots at its best. My basic service of 17 weeks I absolved with the old model, incl. the mandatory 50km march in the survival week and any other marches in the sergeant school. But after violent blisters after a 25km march with heavy package in the summer heat, I said goodbye to the old model, purchased a private comfortable Lowa combat boot and serviced the rest of the sergeant school with this. After the sergeant major school I had to opportunity to buy a new pair of the Kampfstiefel 90 (your shown boots) and from the first try I never wanted to go back to the old ones or the private Lowa combat boots. The only drawback was the not very resistant polyurethan rubber midsole who deteroriates very fast after 3 years, but after the redesign 2010 the quality has made major improvements.

Does that mean that 2010 is still 'generation 1' or is 2010 already the improved model? I bought a pair and it says 2010 on them, so I am a tad confused.

I've got an identical pair of these and they don't squeak at all, both soles and leather are very quiet. I found them a bit stiff at first but they soon loosen up. They don't leak either, even standing in about 4 or five inches of water, not a drop got in. One thing I'd caution about is that the sizing seems quite tight, so probably best to get a size or half size bigger than what you would normally.

Hi, wearing combat shoes since 2005 without interruption and being passionate about them, I think at first that only the boots all in leather and without inner linings are durable over time. The one with the lining will eventually wear out on the heel inside and become uncomfortable. My favorite boots are: - French army boots argueyrolles black interior with a good sport type gel insole, after a little break-in, comfort is assured. (translated from French)
@ROTTERDXM
@ROTTERDXM 3 года назад
I agree with you on the problems with combat boot linings and the necessity of using good sport gel insoles. I will give the argueyrolles a try!

Just ordered a pair. Sportsmans guide 45 bucks free shipping. What the heck. I like the craftsmanship, sole looks good and plan to shine it up with kiwi. Looks like a tough good work boot that will last a while. Tired of trash walmart work boots. Thanks for a great review.

These boots RUN SMALL!!! Both versions. I bought brand new 2nd edition boots made by AKU in size 270, circa EU 42 but they are more like EU 40-40.5. I couldn't even put them on, and gave them to my girlfriend for walking the dog. They are a little long for her but are quite tight on the sides so she can wear them in the summer with two cotton socks to avoid blisters before these stiff boots break in. I bought another pair in size 275 by Minerva. They are 10-12 mm shorter than German army boots in identical size 275. I don't even understand how it is possible with the Mondopoint system for the boots to be made half an inch shorter than comparative vis-a-vis boots of the same Mondopoint size. The 1st edition Swiss boots in size 275 are too short to wear without breaking nails on toes while I wear German model 2000 army boots size 275 with two wool socks in fall and early winter. I wish I knew these sizing nuances, I would have purchased size 285 for myself though I normally wear EU 42, maximum 42.5.

Another great video. More please! I'm a big fan of the lowa zephyr hi boot. Guarantee the lightest most comfortable boot ever. The problem is they only last 2 years with daily wear. I want a lightweight, longer lasting boot thats very comfortable and offers support in the right places. I have a pair of danner fort lewis (avoid the 200gm ones) they are a smaller narrow fit that hurt your feet, the basic rule is try before you buy. Very hard to do these days. Keep up the good videos on boots my friend

I like the boots have five pair, but I do find them a bit heavy, about 5 pounds per pair and during the winter I find they have some pretty slippery soles on snow and ice. I keep crampons close by during the winter. They are very waterproof though.

I always hike and camp in full length army surplus combat boots. I appreciate that they are heavier, restrict the foot more, and use up more energy-per-mile than shorter and lighter boots but the ankle support is unsurpassed. On several occassions I have dodged serious ankle sprains and a possible broken ankle because of the support from combat boots. Recently I was walking through vegetation and my foot went down some kind of gopher hole. Probably a badger nest or something. I dropped over 2 feet onto a rolled ankle, with the whole weight of my body and my backpack. Im pretty sure that would have been a broken ankle if it wasnt for the splinting effect of my boots. So yeah, this style of boot is heavier and saps your energy ... but at least you never have to call off the whole trip because your ankle is damaged. Thats my tuppence worth. Thanks for the video mate.

Trainer boots or combat boot that lasts for years.How long do you want boots too last for.I'd rather go for trainer boots are comfortable to wear from start,and waterproof,than boots that I have to wear in.I'm military,and don't have time.Have 20 year old boots that will last 10 more years,but won't go into combat with.
