Particularly love when the guitar arpeggios and dark runs kick in just before 5 minutes. The spooky theremin like solo is wonderful. I am finding guitar has so few limits when FX are used creatively, and I often have a hard time remembering whether I used a synth or a keyboard in certain parts. Whoa, epic Finale! That weird little pile of experimental looping coda thingy is brilliant.

Although Sarah is the perfect person for that guitar and maybe vice versa, the Stratocaster scale just looks somehow not so majestetic as the clumsy old Jazzmaster. That said, is everything here a match made in heaven or what? I'm so happy to see you working together - the best branding possible. Pure inspiration and awesomeness. All the best from Finland!

I had one for about 3-4 months now but still figuring out every day since it's such new technology. So I use both single coil and humbuckers and use Lava solderless patch cables, voodoo 4x4 power supply, Polytune 3 in the Tuner out, a Dunlop Volume X expression in the EXP out, Keeley Compressor Plus BEFORE my SWISS Things Y as recommended in the EQD manual, a Boss NS-2 noise gate and a Timmy OD in my Loop 1. I actually leave my Loop 2 empty(because I don't like that the clean boost also boosts my Loop 2(only flaw I discovered in the Swiss Things, the Boost should only Boost Loop 1, so I put my Nova Delay and Boss RV-6 Reverb AFTER the B output of my Swiss Things until I get my 2nd amp for stereo in the future. I leave the Loop 2 empty as a result and just use it as a mute like you guys. I run all this through the front of my Fender Super Champ X2 on the clean channel. So my question, is it better to leave the Compressor in front of the Y input, put it in Loop 1 before my Timmy OD? I'm trying to use my single coil strat but get rid of my Noise Gate via clean isolated power, good solderless Lava patch cables, and good solderless DC power adapter cables. Also final question, with a side chained built in FX looped Boss NS-2 Noise gate, where and how should I wire the NS-2 in the Swiss Thing's signal chain? P.S. The Swiss Things has so much buffers in it on top of my buffered Boss Reverb, Boss Noise Suppressor, and Bonafide Buffered Polytune that's already on a buffered tuner out, so double buffering there, and I noticed my short Mogami cables actually sound darker and my longer Mogami cables sound brighter and has better signal. Is this due to having so many buffers in my chain?
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 5 лет назад
Answer to question #1) leave in front of swiss things input as you were already doing. Answer to question #2) aka “final question” - you can put the noise gate where you want, where it works the best, and sounds the best. Experiment. Thank you for your love and support and have a great day!
@Xn4W
@Xn4W 5 лет назад
@@EarthQuakerDevices #1) great, was already doing that. thanks for reminding me what I was already doing. no explanation between the two? the difference is what I was looking for. #2) again, you just told me what I already knew and was doing, obviously I can put the noise gate where I want it, where it works best, and sounds best. I need the opinion of the designers of the product, not a "do what you feel is best" answer. So both my questions weren't really answered, just my questions turned into statements lol...thanks for nothing, now you can see why I posted this in multiple videos.

Anyone know what pedal is in between the Avalanche Run and the Rever? I thought it was a Fairfield pedal of some sort, but not one that I recognize... The Swiss Things is a REALLY interesting device. I use a guitar with loops, a drum machine, and just purchased a Zoia and have crossed my mind to be able to route the guitar or drum signal through the Zoia and/or effects... this may be a good ticket to do just that!

Great sounds. I think EHX has produced something similar. Can you possibly state why yours differs? Thanks C
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 5 лет назад
Hi Chris, Are you referring to the EHX Super Switcher? Swiss Things is pretty much completely different in that it is about the size of a regular effects pedal. It is not HUGE. Swiss things has the ability to provide you with 2 effects loops, an A/B/Y switcher for multiple amps, and a clean boost all in one modestly sized package. You also can use any expression pedal for volume control with Swiss Things. It is not programmable, nor is it a MIDI controller, but Swiss Things is a great solution to have your instrument's signal retain it's original clarity and level when it reaches your amp. Flexi Switching puts it over the top. To read more about Swiss Things, including Flexi Switching, please visit www.earthquakerdevices.com/swiss-things thanks for your interest and have a great day
@chrisnagy1429
@chrisnagy1429 5 лет назад
@@EarthQuakerDevices Hey eqd. Thanks for your reply. I will have to read more about the Swiss Things and yes I was referring to the EHX SS, now that doesn't sound so good like that, but huge, no. Your product would most likely help me immensely. Can you combine single pedals from the two different loops or is it all or nothing? Looks like a winner to me. Thanks. Chris
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 5 лет назад
You can combine sounds from pedals in the two different loops by activating each loop, but each pedal can only be in one loop at a time. You can have both loops be on at the same time. Hope this answers your question.

EarthQuakerDevices what would be the ‘correct’ way to run a looper (boss rc-2) using swiss things. I do minimal looping, more playback stuff..
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 4 года назад
there is no one correct way, but It is def fun to place your looper in loop 2 of swiss things. That way you can use momentary switching with your playback and just let it roll, be able to turn it off when you want etc.

You seemed to have broke the ground and it speaks to what I would like to be able to do. Maybe even ‘well’ someday so avice wanted. Want to set up a system with ability to lay down a bass part with a looper such as ditto or flashback4x, play a guitar over the top, looping some of those parts again with a ditto, run two amps and maybe even a small synth to creat a pad. And.....maybe eventually start using stereo effects. This EQD Swiss seems like it would be a good place to start but as this landscape of pedals/amps/devices is so vast it can be hard to know where to start and not throw away too much cash. Living on top of the world, on a mountainside and in isolation...just a life style but out of necessity these days;I’m not young, immune compromised, undependable in health, even I best of times so I just want to be able to make some music with a few tools. It seems as if everything is so possible these days. Love what Andrew Bird does to what Tom Yorke has done with their approach to looping. Some days you’re feeling Fugazi...other days... ELO. Have to figure out the guitar/bass/ soft/LOUD - dynamics but ultimately get adept enough to compose, improvise, record while eventually aiming to incorporate a drum machine/synth. I have to start somewhere. I have the Flashback 4X so I can loop a bass line-with a Jmj bass through a 65’ reverberocket, but would like to a/b/y with a valco, Falcon, or GA40 as all these amps are so different from one another. Keeping the cleans through Ampeg or Falcon and dirty it up with the Valco or Gibson GA40. I have all this great gear and it would be grand to make some big noise, and maybe something with a melody once in awhile. I love that free form of ideas as you never know what it can produce. I would like to eventually get a better looper so I could save a store interesting ideas, almost akin to a scratch pad to keep track of different ideas. Alone..but not lonely-I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been down this path. A beautiful setup. Thank you for sharing and would welcome any advice on going down this path when you can’t get together with folks. I can see how that EOB would really play well with that rig. It’s such a fun guitar to explore sound with.
@Tanzi24
@Tanzi24 5 лет назад
Sarah is an amazing player and such a gifted sonic artist. I sometimes wonder though, when I see such a complicated set up to make this kind of music, wouldn't it be easier - and a damn site cheaper - just to have a synth or two and a laptop?! I don't want to take anything away from Sarah's creativity and EQD's ingenuity with the Swiss Things but this kind of effects routing is much easier to do with software. Looks less impressive though! And if Sarah needs a guitar and pedals to create then so be it, I'm not gonna tell someone how to be creative.
