A well made and easy to follow video. You're doing a great job. I would request if you would make more videos on the in-built libraries and the atmel studio 6 environment

Thanks for the video. Gat a question though. Around 4:10, was the use of the external pullup resistor necessary since the GPIO pins have internal pullups already?

NO, if you want to detect inputs then you have to use PINx instead of PORTx
