Okay, I see lot of "experts" in the comment section are writing about QA and apparently its a "dead end". It is not QA that's a dead end, its the learning ability of people in these jobs that is dead. QA people often 'settle' in one profile and don't upskill themselves which is the demand of IT industry as whole. Tell me this, If a guy with QA - Automation experience, upskills himself with Cloud knowledge/certifications, has knowledge on how CI/CD pipelines work, wont he find a job any scrum team around the whole world? Sure ultimately that person might have to move to some other role as and when the industry demands that, but you see the point am trying to make? One cannot have only Selenium and Appium on their C.V. and expect that to suffice for an entire career, the entire world is moving towards to cloud. As a starting point QA is great for people who don't want to get into Dev jobs or Sys Admin roles.
Not going to disagree with you because that's the exact pathway I'm taking right now. I spent my time learning automation and have started upskilling in Aure certs. My end focus is to be in a position more akin to a quality coach but that's not really a "testing role" and every tester can't take these steps. You can have a great paying career as an automation engineer and easily earn multiple 6 figures, just by being able to automate API tests. $600 pd seems very achievable in the current job market where I live. However let's be real manual testing itself the ability to execute test scripts is a dead end thankless job. There's also a rapidly diminishing viable job market because manual testers won't be leaving and companies and companies will be looking to hire QAs with automation experience. That's not to say that in 10-15 years when all the good manual testers are gone there won't be a huge demand because even though everyone wants to automate no one really knows how to do it effectively. The last large company I worked at all the testers were quite senior with at least 10+ years at the company, everyone was a manual tester and the majority were at the tail end of their careers. None of them could really code basic tests and there were numerous failed attempts at implementing codeless solutions like ranorex. I'm pretty sure this sounds familiar for everyone here.
You took wise decision. Qa automation need great skills. In fact it's difficult than development. They have to learn new tool after every couple of years. Inspite of all efforts it doesn't give a long and good career. In india out of every 100 people laid off 50 are from qa. All qa guys should realise this and learn either cloud or ERP or crms. Don't try to ride a dead horse. Qa gives a job not a career.
Thank you Bazi. Yeah, it requires contant upgrade of skills. One good thing about QA though is its never going to be dead right? QA is needed for any domain.
@@CloudAdvocate it won't die. But the qa engineer would be out of job after few years. Lots are laid off these days. No company needs qa guys with more than 10 years of work experience. The interesting thing is that that companies that use to boast that they are specialized in QA are rebranding themselves as Digital companies. While on the other side in Cloud, ERP, CRM seniors will be more valuable because of thier platform or product or domain expertise. And also growing in consulting or solution architecting without writing a single line of code. This is my observation after noticing some of my friends very closely: good coders with CSC back ground, having worked in qa automation, ended up loosing jobs after a decade; many noncoders who were chosen Oracle Apps or SAP functional with basic SQL skills are in great position ( u know, some of them are history graduates). After all it's just my opinion based on my observation. People can pursue what ever skill set that they want to work in.
Great points there..yes I did observe similar trend. My friends who went into different tech like Data science or Devops survived the market downtrend. Thanks for taking time and giving your feedback..I appreciate it. Were you QA before?
Real scenario of qa role explained. Even automation testing qa also. They never automate everytime. Occasionally they do.. Being testing we don't gain any experience.. Iam qa, I want to move to devops.. Is it right decision or it will also end up like qa
@@yskbazi hi... Please guide me too shaik. I am having 2+ years of experience in QA. What should I do now. Should I learn devops? (right now I am searing job actually)

After finishing I am unable to find any jobs as people are looking for some exp and I was almost gave up. Your video just gave a glimpse of a hope. Just one last question would AZ-103 help me in getting jobs as I m unable to find anything. Thanks so much for your video. It was a big relief.

Hi, please guide me on the below query. Im an automation engineer (3.5+ Selenium + java, C# + Jenkins). For my career growth should i continue as Automation developer or move to DevOps? If yes then what could be the ideal experience to switch into DevOps? Will staying in Automation will be as same as DevOps in terms of profitability? Thank-you in Advance 😊
I really appreciate your efforts on this topic. I would love to see more deep on this topic, it shows the different path available for tester if they wanted to learn.
Hi, I am Manual QA having 12 years of exp. how to move forward for cloud certification, can you name them as target of cloud architect in GCP. Your guidance is valuable. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the information sir. How much experience as a QA you had before you started working on cloud and how many years did you work in cloud before switching job?
Hi I am manual Front end tester. I have only tested functional part of applications. I want to learn about getting into Cloud Tester. Can you please give step by step guide and more specific tools/technologies I need to learn.
I guess I'm in the 3rd point that you mentioned. From QA, I did a basic cloud certification and now got it into cloud migration testing, and trying to push myself into working with the cloud architect (along with the pre-sales) team.
Hi...I am Manual QA with 4.6 years of experience....recently i completed Simplilearn's Masters in Cloud Architecture & while doing it got Certified in Microsoft AZ 104, AZ 305, AWS Cloud Practitioner, GAQM Certified Cloud Tester....after doing all this & after putting in so much effort in last 1 year to learn all these skills, i am not at all getting any opportunities in Cloud because of no Cloud experience....Can you please tell me why i am not getting any calls & what can i do more get into cloud?
I have 6yrs of experience in manual and automation testing. Working as SDET-II. I have opportunity inside my current company as devops testing (IAAS testing). What will you suggest?
i am actually in a slight confusion you can say probably" analysis paralysis mode", where my question is what kind of jobs should I start searching after finishing aws solutions architect associate exam? Entry level cloud jobs for Freshers? Job roles??
How long did you work with the operation team in your company before applied for your first DevOps job? And much raise should we expect? Let’s say the current QA salary is $100k
Is it possible to switch from Sdet to cloud engineer/devops engineer role with a 7 year work experience if I don't have the chance to switch internally
Hi Thanks for creating good and precise content. I am a QA in US healthcare with 12 years experience (EDI, Facets, SIT, UAT). Mostly its manual but with very good knowledge of domain. I am actually confused to go for cloud or something like API testing, selenium etc.
Hello sir, Hope you are doing well and safe !! I am working as a Senior Developer in an MNC Company in India & have total 13 years of IT experience. I have a big confusion whether moving as Cloud Architect or Devops Engineer will be a good choice for me.. down the line to sustain in this competitive job market ? If you can suggest me please.
Hey, I want to know if someone with 6+ years of experience in manual testing, planning to switch to devops after learning DevOps tools and required programming language, how hard it will be for him to find a job with no prior experience in devops or being a fresher in devops ?
I am no expert to answer this question, but I would like to suggest what I know..You try to learn core java or python first and then start to learn Devops. This makes easy to learn Devops. When comes to the experience part, you can mention your total experience as 6yrs and relevant experience(Exp on Devops) as 2 or 3 years as per your knowledge on Devops.
No, Programming is not an issue bcz Devops itself having multiple positions....Even if u go for monitoring profile you will get arround 12-15 lakh package and there is no programming required. After that you can learn as per your capacity. Just basic Cloud and Devops knowledge required.
I need some suggestions from you I have 1.3 year of experience in manual testing and 1 years of experience in aem testing. Total years of experience is 2.5 now I started learning selenium and i want to switch my career to selenium tester.. Is my previous experience will count? if I search opportunity in selenium and also I have done AWS SAA certification
Hi, My name is Shiv Dokka, i have got 13 years of exp in IT where i have spent 9 years as manual test engineer and have jumped from that into Agile Scrum and then into RPA Project Management. Now i am in search of a job where the chances are less for me as i am already 49 yr old. Have decided to get into Azure and have started preparation for Az900 and Az104. Going to write the exam of AZ900 in next week and am undergoing training of AZ104. Let me know whether i am going in the right path or not?
I am into QA with 10 yrs experience. I have exposure to selenium automation. But not much interested in coding part. Can I become Cloud QA engineer without ccoding?
@@CloudAdvocate sir I have done associate cloud engineer course and actually I came from mechanical background, and due to this pandemic its being quite hectic to get a job on cloud based companies and spclly having a background of mechanical,so I decided to let first entry in IT as QA,so I just wanna ask u a question that is it good or safe to do as a QA first cause right now I am giving interviews over QA. Plz give your valueble feedback sir🙏.
@@sagarmeshram4442 Get into automation testing which is in very high demand and people getting good package. If you are not happy with this in the future you will have opportunities to get into devops or full stock java developer which will be easier for you once you have experience in automation testing. Don't choose QA in manual that won't help you for growth...
If you don't have any AWS knowledge, start off with Cloud Practitioner. It gives you a good overview, and it's only $75 to take. I have that cert and studying for the next one which is Associate level, it would have been too tough to take Associate level being new to AWS, IMO.
Hi, I am Testing Engineer having ten years exp. but I am looking to move from Testing due. I have Basic core Java exp by using automation tool for 3. can I move to cloud. which course I can take azure or GCP also in that which course fundamental or role base. Thanks in Advance.

Hi, I am currently a Customer Quality Engineer but in Manufacturing field. I am looking forward to change this path to Software Tester Engineer or Cloud Engineer. This is an interesting point of view from you. Should I also consider other paths before I decide which one to choose. Thanks a lot!
Is it beneficial to switch to Cloud Engineering by doing some certification like GCP if earlier was in QA analyst mostly manual n ETL with little bit of automation. How tough or easy it is to grasp the cloud knowledge n get a growth in company.
Go for etl development role. It's easy to fake as you already know the tool. I'm 7 years into testing, it's almost like end of my career. No one hires you. BTW I am excellent coder.

Should I switch from QA to a development role. I am also afraid about the future. How 10 years or 15 years or 20 years QA team will justify his task. Hey GK.How much python is needed to get hands dirty in python? Python basics is sufficient or the OOP insights (class, inheritance etc) also needs to be taken into considertion.
