In this video I'll go over setting up a VLAN on a switch. By using a VLAN we can segregate the network prohibiting access to other segments on the network.
Switch used in this video: amzn.to/3R9tfQ9

Hello, does intervlan works with this switch? like 2 Vlans communicating to each other. Thanks in advance!

Which port is your switch uplink? 1? You don't explain it at all.

In the video the tagged port for all vlans is port 1. That would be the trunk port/switch uplink. I meant for this video to be informational on how to set up this specific switch with the idea that those watching would understand trunking.

I have two switches in series, how can I propagate the VLAN? pfSense > VLAN 10 into Switch 1 on port 8 > VLAN 10 Switch 1 on port 7 out > VLAN 10 Switch 2 on port 8 in > VLAN 10 Switch 2 port 6 out to > Device... How would I configure the first switch, then the second switch?

You would put those puts into the specific vlan you want it to talk on. These ports cannot handle multiple vlans such as 10 and 11 on the same port. You'd have to passthrough all traffic for 10 for example through port 8 to port 8 on switch 1 to switch 2. Then you could put port 6 on the same vlan and it should pick up the traffic.

Would the port mapping option have achieved the same thing?

hi, what's the rest of your esxi setup look like? do you have a virtual switch with a port group for vlan 20? can vms connected to that virtual switch reach external devices connected to the tplink switch? that's what i'm trying to do, currently a bit stuck not able to get communication between the external hosts and the vms, came across this video while trying to figure things out. would love to hear if that's working for you, thanks!

Hi. My ESXi setup varies. I have 2 host and one cluster. If you're doing a router setup like pfsense or any that can VLAN and passing that to the switch that then would go into the host (ESXi). You don't want to set the VLAN on the host as the router and switch will pass the right data. You would then simply create a vswitch associated with one of the NICs. Have a line going from the switch with VLAN 20 going into the NIC on ESXi. for the port group on esxi leave it as 0 as it will be on the correct VLAN by default. Now if you're doing a virtual router on the ESXi host then yes you would need to do the VLANS via ESXI. Does that help?

can you help ? vlan 100 traffic ----------- (port 4) tp link switch (port 1) --------- router ------ internet basically what I need to do is . * I get vlan 100 traffic from computer * I have pugged in to tp link switch * my router do not understand vlan * so tp link switch should un tag and send it to router how to do this ?? Is It correct to put port 4 - tagged port 1 - untagged PVID of port 4 to 100 ??

My apologies. I don't get on here often. You want to have port 1 tagged and port 4 untagged on the switch. You also will need to set PVID of port 4 to 100. Make sure your router has the VLAN for that set to 100 dependent on your network setup. If you're using a router that doesn't know how to VLAN then using port based VLAN on the TP-Link would be the way you want to go.

Hello, I have an sg105E. I'm trying to configure the vlan. Port 1 ISP unttaged. I want to create two vlans the first one on port 2 and 3 and second one in ports 4 and 5 . Both vlans access the internet but the computer in one vlan cannot access the computer in the other vlan. I tried several ways, either one vlan loses internet or computers from different vlans fill up. Do you have any idea what I did wrong and how to do it? Thank you!

Hi! Depends on how you're setting things up. Can you give me more details regarding the infrastructure you're setting up? How are you managing the routes of the subnets for the vlans?
@jvianneyjr
@jvianneyjr 11 месяцев назад
@@limitspassed6602 I only need to create 2 isolates vlans. Both with Internet access.
@limitspassed6602
@limitspassed6602 11 месяцев назад
@@jvianneyjr You should be able to Trunk Port 1 as the tag port and then make the ports you want on their own VLAN an untagged port but make sure you have Port 1 tagged. Port 1 of course would need to be the Trunk port. For example you can have vlan id 10 = port 2 untagged and port 1 tagged. vlan 11 = port 3 untagged and port 1 tagged. After doing this make sure you have the PVID setting pointing to the VLAN you want the port to be on.

what’s the switch management port/vlan?
@limitspassed6602
@limitspassed6602 11 месяцев назад
For the TP-Link? It's currently the trunk port which would be VLAN 1.
