Disclaimer: My Gopros where unavailable for the shooting of this video, and we also lost some footage, but I still wanted to show how to install these as I could not find instructions anywhere. That said, enjoy the vid and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Installing a set of ebay Switchback turn signals and DRLs to my wife's forte GT. Parts do clip on and fit and finish is ok, but some minor trimming is required to the factory air ducts on the bumper to fit the new lights. Also, kit comes with hyperflash canceling resistors which do not plug into the factory harness, I had to buy a set of headlight plugs on Autozone and swap the plugs on the car as well as those on the resistor. Then, the yellow signal wire is tapped into the red wire on the resistor pack. The rest of the light harness can be wired the following way: red to switched 12v on/ your current DRL signal, and black to any proper ground on the car.

First of all, thank you for the video. I just my car back from the body shop and I need to take it back because they didn't wire it up and the hood is slightly misaligned. Regarding the wiring, if you want them to come on with the DRL's inside the headlight housing use the yellow wire to tap into OEM DRL harness? From there the rest is simple to understand.

First off...congrats on that mod...awesome 👌...wish you did a more define video for slow people such as myself 🤣...and lastly I'm usually not a music complainer but ...DUDE!! Had me turning volume up turning volume down back and forth 😖...anyway love the look wish it didn't need resistors ...above my skill level..keep the mods coming.

Sorry about the music, like mentioned, I had trouble recording this and lost some footage. This also caused audio issues, and I tried to balance the sound channels to try and make it even. More mods coming, the wife loves these lights.

It easy to install really, the kit comes with the resistors in a nice pre packed box. I bought some off the shelf connectors to swap the plugs on the resistors and on the car itself, while I was replacing the plug on the resistor, the signal/yellow wire from the new light was spliced in and connected to the red wires on the plug and resistor. @7:12 shows how it was wired

@@randy7425 depends on which ones you get with your kit. in my case, the plugs on the resistor did not match the car at all, and I had the bumper apart and was not going to order some online, so I just went to auto zone and got a set of replacement bulb plugs and swapped them out. You could get away with just swapping the ones on the resistor pack to match the car if you can find them.

Hello friend, how are you. A friend's question? You know that the original plug has a 3-wire connector and you installed a 2-wire plug, it is black and red. Which cables should I connect to the double connector?

The kit comes with a harness where you plug your daytime running light, I used an add a fuse to connect that harness. The other side was plugged into the factory harness albeit with the swapped plugs. The 2020 GT here has a 2 wire plug for its turn signals

I didn't cut much, the pig tail I purchased has some extra wire, so I cut enough in the event I had to redo the factory connector I could without stressing the cables. So Id say I cut about 3" to 6", but added about the same from the purchased plug

How did you get power for both lights , did you splice the two power lines together so when ones connected they both are, or did you just need to add two fuse adapters for each line ?

The kit comes with a harness, I just use an "add a fuse" onto a spot in the fuse box that had ignition on.

Hey, someone just hit my car last week and crunched my headlamp assembly. Do I have to take off my bumper to change the headlight assembly? Sick ride by the way. I love my Kia Matt Forte! Go Bears!

Yes, in order to swap it out, it needs to be removed. If you're feeling lazy, you can undo all top bolts, and the ones inside the wheel wheels and the bumper should slide off just enough to get the headlight. Although I don't recommend it cause it could damage the clips under the bumper

The chrome piece is held with a couple screws, just removed them. As for the wrap, its either avery or 3m cant remember. Thanks!

Well, the way it is installed right now they never shut off until you shut the car off. So they are always on.

I see you got a 10 amp fuse on the new circuit guessing the entire circuit is 10 amps as well or the left is 5 amps and the right is also 5 amps correct?

I believe so, the add a fuse had fuse in it and then I just replaced the one that was on there and placed it in the add a fuse

@gearguy70 my lights have two 5 amps (one for each side) I run them in series to that circuit. Do I add to that circuit the 5 amp or 10 amp fuse since both the left and right are 5 amps each?

@@LiuMoon13 honestly, I do not know. I ran what the lights came with. The signal lights themselves are powered by the factory signal wire, the connection with the add a fuse is only for the DRL if I am not mistaken

You were able to disable the OEM DRLs while still still keeping the OEM running lamps? Which fuse would I pull or modify to disable them? It seems like the GT is the only Forte trim that does not use the turn signals as running lamps.

Didnt disable the OEM running lights. Just wired these up with the included harness to work as such. The fuse pulled is just a random sensor fuse that turns on only when the car turns on. And basically its an add a fuse , so I am still running power to whatever the fuse was

@@gearguy70 Did you have the parking brake on when you started the car? The standard DRLs are around the headlight, and they did not turn on after cranking the starter. Which number fuse did you pull?

@@gru-ninja id have to go back and check. But like I said, the fuse was not removed perse, and add a fuse plug wasn used which lets me use keep the original fuse and add and extra circuit. Quite possibly, the Parking brake was on which may be why they didnt turn on. The lights turn on before any other lights because the way the fuse they are plugged into turns one when the car is turned on, not with the lights. So they stay on no matter what you do with your headlights. In the future, Ill try to wire them into the DRL on the headlight

@@firemouth72kd they are no longer on sale, they were recalled and I got replacements, but the box was a generic box with no brand on it. The original brand was CougarMotors on amazon. They may have the new one already out

@@mytagstatus2062 not sure I understand. The new signals were installed using an "add a fuse" pig tail. And were connected to a fuse that is on when the car is on only. So no matter what, as soon as the car turns on. The lights are on

They are konig hypergrams 18x8 +45 offset with factory size tires. The car is actually running tue stockers right now cause of winter. After it warms up, we will be putting tue Konigs back on

Obviously this will need canbus units. Also no need to take the entire front bumper off I had replaced the original and I just went underneath (albeit I only changed the indicator housing)

Not sure what you mean, bumper cover needs removal cause the trim piece needs to be replaced and getting it off the bumper is a pain. Not hard, but you have to wrestle it a bit. Also some trimming was required

@@5.02valve8 it does not void warranty. These type of mods do not cause any harm to engine, not its current function. Look up the aftermarket magnusson act. If you look in the warranty booklet you'll see that as pong as you do not touch your emissions systems, or open up the engine youre good. Also dealer needs to prove that your mod caused a failure in order not to warranty it
