These dudes were amazing. I wonder what they're all doing now I grew up 27 miles Northeast of Cleveland and got a chance to see them live multiple times
Flaw, Spineshank, Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Deftones, Switched, Incubus, Taproot.... Good days back then. Today's music is different, but: Killswitch Engage, The Sorrow, Bury Tomorrow are pretty good to listen to too nowadays.
July of 2001 Saw these guys at the Warped Tour. I was wearing my Fear Factory shirt and the Singer walked by me after the show and pointed at my shirt and said..."Hey, we opened for them" lol! then he gave me their single that had this song on it which I kept for yeeeeears, don't know where it is now.
I saw them that year too. That was back when Warped Tour was pretty much all punk rock bands, but these guys killed it and I bought the record right then & there at their merch booth
I can't believe I was 21 when this came out n now I'm still listening to old nu metal and older Metalcore from the same time frame. It makes me feel old now I'm in my 40s n still listening!😁😎
im 19 and I absolutely love the nu metal/rapcore era now even though i was about 6 when this genre was mainly being released. Plus we never had/HAVE good music like this in England :D
I'm 28 and I've been listening to it for as long as my brother Michael who is in his thirties has been listening to it. I think that it was unfairly maligned because there was this weird believe that every Nu metal band had a DJ and every Nu metal band sounded like Limp Bizkit. you know I'm not sure how you can say Slipknot Coal Chamber Linkin Park Korn and the myriad of lesser-known bands some of which were really good, how these bands even sound like each other other than all being heavy metal bands and all having some commonalities but Slipknot is all we have here band even when they first came out they were away heavier band than Linkin Park. I don't play in the middle because I play more technical guitar playing which is really weird since I can't read music. but not all nu metal actually lacks technical guitar playing. I just find it easier to play that way because I love on time signatures and whatnot anyway back to the point you have all these disparate bands that don't sound very much like that are labeled this category which is really a disservice to all these bands not because there's anything really wrong with Nu metal but because the stigma attached to it. as it has currently been pointed out new metal was the last point in rock music and rock music directly competed with pop music. I see some really young people here in the comments you all are the future of Nu metal play it don't let people bash you. the styles of alternative rock and hard rock I play aren't very popular but I still play them.
@@adamhovey407 yes im kid nowadays...i have sum couple bands i hope we can bring back nu metal..but in its og form tho..cuz the nowadays nu metal with trap beats are just crap haha
I filled in on bass for a short time and have known Ben (vocalist & talented drummer, not to mention studio producer & engineer with his Spider Studio company) since forever, 27+ years now to date so I am qualified to comment on Switched as having had potential to grow and make it up the ladder but for whatever reason they chose to or negative issues prevailed and the door closed, the opportunity passed -unfortunately, for music that didn't happen. Although pursuing the industry, Spider Studios is a great place for bands to develop...
@@trevorphilips9484as I was reading the top comment I was thinking about Chimaira funny u said that. Classic Clevo! Glad they're still doing a few shows as well
I can't believe I was 21 when this came out n now I'm still listening to old nu metal and older Metalcore from the same time frame. It makes me feel old now I'm in my 40s n still listening!😁😎
InfamousMedia I remember when kids back then would listen to stuff like this. All kids listen to these days are nothing but plain rap and hip hop. Which doesn't even sound that good.
+siKswYne94 The lead vocalist of this band Switched is named Ben Schigel, and he really does look like Mark Chavez, it's just this Ben Schigel is better looking though, but they both lookalike and sing alike too.
Not exactly, that's more of todays bands, at least in the nu metal age, they're were some diversity. I say some because these were one of those bands that just made more or less of an impact when nu metal was coming to an end.
yep. some may say that nu-metal is irrelevant to the metal genre but if you look into todays bands, they carried on inspiration from none other than the nu-metal style. and yep I'm still here. :))
@2380Steve Subject To Change is without a doubt one of the best albums Ive ever owned these guys were sick and knew how to shake things up, Amen brotha music is at its worst these days we gotta bring back the best music that ever existed and bring back the good times
I had completely forgotten about this song until I randomly woke up this morning with the lyrics in my head. Glad I found this video. Man, I really miss music like this...
@@Toxic2T yes the drums are better but they edited the final mixing for the music vid, some parts of the song are in a different order and they added vocal effects that are not on the studio version
Agreed. This version probably killed the bands push. I used to hate this band until I actually heard the album. All because this version of the song was over mixed garbage
@2012cabbage Unfortunately this band never got what they deserved their label didn't do much for these guys and it's a damn shame because they had so much talent and so much drive it was beautiful it's rare to have like this these days that's why these guys are legends to me.
Because this version they used for the video sucked. If they just used the album version they would have done better. Tbh I used to hate this band until I actually heard the album. Then I got mad because it was actually good and no one cared because this video was over mixed and annoying. Literally no one cared to even give them a chance. Its sad
This version sucks. Vocals are all spit shined with crap song is misting og. parts ....way to sell out and let the suit and cigar fuck it up!!! 👏 bravo
They were ahead of their time using the autotune on his voice in the nu metal/metal world! Only rappers n pop stars were using autotune around that time! Lmao
@staticdriver33 Lucky as hell unfortunitely I never had a chance to see them live but I do know they were pretty intense and they knew how to put on a great show
I've been trying to find this song for a few days, literally couldn't remember the band or song name, just that it took place in an old house. Once I saw the video title I knew I found it.
I saw this back in August 2002 right after two a days football practice one day and now seeing it for the 1st time since then brings awesome memories damn it. RU-vid is a time machine.
1990 - 2003 for me and I definitely agree 03 was the last year for music, All the garbage out there today and the last several years is not music not sure what you would call it but it's disgraceful we have got to get old bands back into the scene and bring back real music
I had a hard time finding the song I could not remember what the song was called even though it's in the title and I didn't know what band did it so thank you for uploading
@jflemmingjr Its very ironic to me because not just Chad but Aaron and Mark from Lifer (one of my favorite bands of all time) joined Breaking Benjamin and BB is ok but Switched and Lifer kills them they own. Well it will be interesting to see what happens because Aaron and Mark are no longer in BB I believe Chad is still with them but it will be interesting to see what he will do.
More like 1990 plus. This song was released in 2002, the first listeners were probably 12-17 not 5. ;P Unless your generation is music that came out when we were in kindergarden, not high school.....then I've been fooled. haha.
@noxx2020 This is the Howard Benson Mix thats on the reissue of Subject To Change I personally like this version a little more but I agree they are both good then again what Switched song isnt good?
yip 30 year old metal head. Pretty much fan of all metal genres especially breakdowns, deathcore, death metal, post grunge and classics Sabbat, Zep & Priest all da way. Pretty much Sevendust. Spotify please keep requesting me dis shit! Yus, Yus Yus!!!
@jflemmingjr Thats awsome they same like some real cool dudes. Yeah I miss the hell out of this band these guys were so good and really deserved more then what they got. SWITCHED FOR LIFE!!!!!! thats all I gotta say.
The dude with the dreads was almost my step brother but my dad didn't want to get married lol (she asked him he said no) good shit tho I see ur doing big things now keep it up,I miss getting drink with ur mom(mary jo) she's cool as fuck, crazy as hell lol but cool
@zekus1 That is the truth man and I actually remember watching this when it was on I can't remember who was number 1 but I remember Adema and 40 Below Summer being in the countdown as well.
This video turned me off of the band. But then I heard the album. Dont know why they didn't just use the Album version it was so much better. This is the case were a bad video killed a good bands push
I saw these guys when they should of open drowning pool...but the lead singer past away...and drowning pool got replaced with Andrew W.K......good concert!!
First off hats off to you for your taste in music very nice list you got there (Lifer being one of my favorites of all time) it's very rare for me to listen to anything new these days there are some good newer bands out there but it's been a very long time since we've had bands that really brought to the table like all the bands from back then, I grew up listening to all those bands you mentioned along with thousands of other bands they were all original and real and that's what I miss the most
Absolutely brotha til this day I still wear cargo pants, converse, intense hair listen to incredible bands like this and still represent these times you name it nothing will ever change that either
Cargo pants, shoes you could actually run in, short spiked and dyed hair, music on MTV and bands voicing teenage oppression. Nuff said. RIP Early 2000's music!
That's correct all those bands including this one deserve so much more then what they got these bands were talented and incredible they were definitely the best bands in early 00's
+Inthewakeof Yeah, but it kind of sucks, no less, the rest of the songs on the album are amazing. And it's too freaking bad this band didn't last long, they truly deserved more attention from other popular record labels. And with the right amount of attention, the band itself could of aimed at up to at least 6 years of lasting, if not 8 or 9 years.
Not gonna lie, I don't really like it. I don't like the vocalist for one, and I prefer the heavier Nu metal like Mudvayne or Slipknot. I very rarely listen to Nu metal anymore, I've moved on to Death Metal, But I dont really think this is a good example of what Nu metal is anyway
Most of the other songs on Subject To Change (the album with this song on it) were a lot heavier, surprisingly. It didn't really make sense to have this song as a single, since it doesn't really sound like the rest of the album, in my opinion anyway. Check out the songs Exterminate, and Wrongside (has melodic verses, but the chorus is heavy). I also really like Anymore, Four Walls, and Religion. But yeah, Switched, Flaw, and 40 Below Summer (along with a lot of more well-known nu-metal bands) were pretty much my gateway into metal/heavier music, back in the early 2000's. I still listen to them, especially since Flaw just got back together and 40 Below Summer recently released a new album, although Switched is no longer together. The lead singer of Switched does production though, and he helped produce Chimaira's album The Impossibility of Reason.
