Today we are talking about switching between weight-loss medications. In particular, GLP-1 receptor agonists such as Saxenda, Ozempic and Wegovy. I also have a small note about other classes of weight-loss medications such as Contrave! LET'S GET TO IT!
⚠️ Are you thinking about switching your meds up? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I've just started week three of Saxenda. I haven't increased the dose above 1.2 because I've lost 5 pounds and I have to pay out of pocket for it even though I'm type two. My cravings are gone. I'm eating one meal a day and not hungry the rest of the day. I'm going to start taking vitamins because I eat so little. I make sure that I have protein at my one meal. I might ask my doctor about ozempic if it would be covered by insurance. I understand it's hard to get right now. Paying $1,300 for Saxenda is a huge chunk of my budget and not sustainable. It makes no sense that U.S. insurance companies will cover bariatric surgery but not an injection that's much cheaper.

I can't believe the prices you are paying for saxenda. I live in Israel where we have socialized medicine. I pay the equivalent to around $135 a month for the five pen pack of saxenda. That also is very expensive compared to all the other medicines that are available here.

Thank you for the information. It’s greatly appreciated. I started on Saxenda and worked hard to keep my calories and protein up to between 1200-1500. I also had to take into consideration my less than stellar physical exercise due to chronic pain/nerve damage but I do what I can. I’m about to switch to weekly Ozempic soon so I’m hoping the results are similar if not better.

I have been on wygovy 36 weeks, went from 196.6 to 163.2 # am 5 ft 3 and 55yo. I am stalling on the weight loss and will try to exercise more-- walk and lite weights and start with that. I am thrilled anyhow to have lost what I lost although would like to have 10-15# more wgt loss. I can live with having lost 33 pounds. my health and life are better...also will need to increase calories to 1400-1500 cal a day. I'm at about 1200 so yeah, will try some of these tips. thanks Doctor!

I don't feel constipated either on saxenda. However I was never regular to begin with. I have lost 31 pounds in around 4 months. I have not lost recently though. I am not on saxenda to lose weight although I do need to lose the weight. I have Insulin resistance. My numbers have gone way down which is great. I just do not know if I will lose any more weight (have another 30 pounds or so to lose.) Not sure what to do now.

Interestingly, my dad went from 138 kg (initial) to 124 kg (lowest) to 130 kg on Ozempic 1MG. The diabetologist now switched him to Saxenda. Weird. (But Ozempic 2.0, Wegovy or Mounjaro probably aren't in stock, only formally approved) He told me that she said the all the actors etc. in Czechia take Saxenda for weight loss and that in her experience Saxenda 3MG works better than Ozempic 1MG. Also the change itself is important if Ozempic stopped working like that. But my dad is known for butchering the actual stuff she said, so...😅

I’m on Ozempic probably 2 years now. I lost about 75 lbs and kept it off For a year but it’s slowely started to creep back on and I’m scared. Slippery slope. My appetite seems not suppressed and cravings harder to control again. I even tried upping my ozempic (through my doctor) and it didn’t do much. Seems I have become immune to it? Wondering if switching for a while would help or what to do now. It’s a constant battle and I was so happy I wasn’t battling for that year and I want to feel that way again.

Are they equal in glp-1 strength so I can just start Ryblesus 14 mg after stopping Mounjaro 15 mg? I was using a coupon code for Mounjaro bc my insurance wouldn't cover it, and was at 15 mg of Mounjaro using the manufacturer's coupon code. I'm not sure if they will renew my coupon code, but I have 4 months of Rybelsus 14 mg, previously prescribed, that was still working but much more slowly. If my Mounjaro is denied, I want to take the Rybelsus 14 mg and not have to titrate up from the start with it again. Have you found Saxenda, Ozempic or Wegovy to be more effective than Phentermine in appetite suppression and long term weight loss? Is it something I can just switch to or is it possible to take it in combination with Phentermine? I have been on and off Duromine (Phentermine) 40mg for several years and I am not sure if I have just built a tolerance to it but sometimes I feel like I can still eat a large amount of food even if I'm supposed to not "feel hungry" or "desire food".

Awesome video! I have been on ozempic since August 2021. I lost five or 6 pounds and have kept it off. I actually would like to lose another 20 to be at a healthy BMI of 23. I have not lost anything significant in the past two months. Once I got put at .5 A i lost the feeling of satiety all together. My PCP does not want to increase my dosage to the next level because my blood glucose is very controlled at this point. Should I stop taking the medication and then restart it? If so, how long should I be off of it? Again, I have to say that I really love your videos! So informative!
