The 2600 nits onky can be achieved by auto brightness ON and with a lot of light on the sensor like the day or a flashlight. Put it side by side with iphone and turn on auto brightness and a flashlight on sensor and you will see the difference
My biggest thing keeping me from going back to android is image shearing. Image shearing though text message is horrible on android. You lose so much quality and detail when you shear from android to android, unlike iPhone to iPhone. Got any ways to make it better?
Finally someone who actually takes the time to learn about the new device's settings to customise it for their needs. Many other videos simply say for example "I don't like that the back button is in the bottom" and it shows that they are not really intending to use it as a daily driver as they claim. Subbed and waiting for the 30 days review.
I appreciate the sub! I'm doing a Day In the Life video with the S24 Ultra while I'm traveling then I'll do the review. 😀 It might be closer to 45 days at that point LOL
Just switched back to Android by way of the S24U after 12 years with iPhones. My last Android phone was the Note 2. My experience pretty much mirrors yours. It took a good week to feel comfortable with the S24U and get everything set up the way I like.
I’ve been thinking about it used to be all Samsung since the note 2 and switch with the battery note. And idk its convention just fits my day to day. So switching back idk I’ve been reluctant even though i was always a iPhone hater lol
I've been a Samsung user pretty much since the S2 and it still takes me a couple of days to a week to set everything how I want it (even though it saves my old settings, but with a new phone comes new features) when I get a new one.
Looking forward to seeing how your deep dive into customization goes! It's probably my favorite thing about Android, and I like seeing how other people customize their phones and develop their own unique style.
@@JonImperialseems you’re not familiar with “HDR brightness” this applies to every display, from TVs to monitors to laptops to smartphones. There’s a maximum SDR brightness, and a brighter maximum HDR brightness. Also the maximum brightness changes depending on how much of the screen is displaying bright colors, and screens reach their peak brightness usually at 1%. This is for HDR. When parts of the screen is dark or black, the bright highlights are supposed to get extremely bright. Hence many OLED TVs get pretty bright when displaying bright objects in HDR content but they’re extremely dull when displaying a very bright and colorful scene.
Galaxy. Its great to see a reviewer thats a Apple fan give such a fair and impartial review. If you really want to customize you galaxy i would recommend the Good Lock app. Its by Samsung. It has a TON of customizations some really impressive. My fave that i did to my S24 ultra is to the S pen. When i remove it the phone plays the sound of a lighsaber powering up, when i insert it the loghtsaber powering down sound is played.
You can switch the volume slider UI to the left, so when you adjust the volume with the button, you can continue adjusting it via the screen on the left hand side. Hope this might help your volume-adjusting “problem”. This is what I love about Android, if you have a preference there’s usually a way to customise it your way
I have been thinking about switching to iphone for the first time ever, but when i heard it doesnt have that level of customization it was a deal breaker for me.
Trust me it really doesn’t I have s23Ultra Zfold5 and iphone13 pro max I love my s23U and zfold5 soooo much more than my iPhone my iPhone jst feels the same so basic and not much different than anyone else’s iPhone but with my galaxy phones they feel so nice and with all the customization I feel like it really makes them stand out
@@renatoreyes6583 Do your s23U lag or work slow when using it? I'm only asking because im trying to update my cheap android phone to either iPhone or s24U, but if s24 going to lag or work slow just as bad as my cheap android phone then I will rather buy an iPhone instead.
I see many mention shutter lag when it comes to shooting pets or if someone is moving, hopefully they keep working on that. Been tempted to go back to Android myself after 8-9 years on iPhone, I do love both though it’s mainly for the split screen multitasking, DEX, and most of all the ease of connecting to a PC and moving photos and videos to it without needing iTunes/iMazing etc. The S23U was the first Android to temp me in years but I had just got my 13 Pro. Going to use it another 1-2 years and we will see what happens from there. I do REALLY like having Face ID for bank apps and even custom password/logins on Safari websites 😅
OH and the notification history that’s amazing! That is actually another reason I am tempted to go back to Android is I absolutely hate that my iPhone gets rid of notifications that I do NOT clear automatically after x amount of days. Or if you restart your phone texts and missed calls or voicemails seem to vanish. It’s infuriating, I am not the type to respond to some right away unless it warrants it and so I rely on having the notifications stick around as a reminder. Find myself setting alarms to reply to txts or DMs if they vanish, it’s really rough. Sure, I should do much better in getting back to people but hey sometimes life gets way too busy and you need to focus on what’s actually in front of you. Look forward to the next video and your recommendation, subscribed
@@JonImperial Yes. Try it. Its SO MUCH brighter! Also you forgot to mention the anti reflective screen. This with the combo of 2600 nits when using outside is game changer! Once you get used to it the iphone feels weird... At least to me - when i grab my 14PM its so reflective...
Glad to see a reviewer that is using MacOS and the s24. I use BlueBubbles and find it probably. the most stable option available. I prefer MacOS to Windows mainly cause the laptops are far superior in UI. I mean its 2024 and I haven't seen any Windows laptop without a 'water-fall' trackpad. Anyways, I would love to see content on how you bridge the gap between using the two platforms. It's honestly annoying that Apple limits the Macs. I would love to see a developer port Samsung ecosystem capabilities to Mac such as quickshare (even the windows app) and Samsung's version. of continuity. I really think if Samsung made a powerful (and refined) Samsung Dex powered pc with fluid gestures/fun to use UI, they could really beat Apple's ecosystem. I use both Apple (iPhone 15, Airpods Pro, Apple Watch, iPad Mini) and Samsung (s22u, Tab s7, Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Watch) on a regular and honestly find Samsung to be a tad bit more reliable, especially the auto audio switching on Galaxy Buds. Anyways, subbing!
Thank you so much! Wow you are almost evenly in both ecosystems. That's fun! 😄 I'll definitely speak on how I make it work using a Samsung Phone and Mac. BlueBubbles is definitely clutch! Thanks for the sub!
Just got my S24U about a week ago. I absolutely love it and fhe customization Android offers. Ive been with apple for years and it blows my mind that u still cant put icons anywhere u like on ur home screen... Like, come on.
@@robhughes8516 Icon replacement is the only difference you see? People wouldn’t pay more than what Apple offers for its best iPhone model if it were subpar. They pay more because it’s superior in hardware, design, and features.
Galaxy! I'm testing the base S24 but with the SD Processor alongside my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I've been using the iPhone since 1st gen. Liking the S24 so far. It's so much lighter than my iPhone and it's a much more productive phone I find. Although it still can't beat the UI smoothness on the iPhone, I might bite the bullet and use the S24 exclusively for a longer period of time.
I used the Ultra for about a week & ended up exchanged it for the 15 pro max. The Ultra was a beast of a phone. Just didn’t fit my day to day as my entire family uses iPhones. I found it frustrating in communicating & exchanging media between the separate platforms. I could’ve just bit the bullet & stuck it out, but I decided not to. Maybe in the future it won’t be the case
That really is the main thing. BlueBubbles made the switch easier for me. I'm not suee how feasible it is long term, but it removes the iMessage issue for me completely. At least you tried it!
Yesss the battery life on my s24 is superb. Its way longer than the iphone and this is coming from someone who has an 15 pro. I give recognition where its due. My main gripe is the face id and fingerprint isnt up to par on the samsung but theres tradeoffs between both devices. Either way i like my s24 and am very impressed with it.
Sometimes I would just keep swipe from left to right using my iphone just cos i can't do anything more on it. Now I have samsung s24 ultra and love discovering it!
I'm a lifelong Samsung Galaxy owner since Note 3. 😂 Iphone is too simple for me. I enjoy Galaxy's extreme customization esp with the S pen. S24 Ultra + One Note feels like i have a 2nd BRAIN. ❤🎉
me too, i can’t use phone with haptic like Samsung. even OnePlus,OPPO make a better haptic then Samsung. because iPhone haptic and speakers is the best.
@@TPQ624 the haptics on Samsung are pretty crappy but the haptics aren’t ultra important compared to software features, the camera, the smart, digital assistant, that can actually understand you, etc. I do, however, enjoy iPhones great haptics, just not the deciding factor of a phone by a longshot.
Look for some settings in your keyboard that allows symbols to be added to the main keyboard. Makes a word of difference. You'll never have to toggle through multiple pages like the iPhone again!
@Joker-yu5kp that's exactly why I don't use apple. A lot less features and it's not user friendly at all. You get what you get and they never change. The iPhone 16 will be exactly the same and it might be a little bigger and have AI....they'll market it as revolutionary and not change anything else.
I’m thinking of swapping Switched in late 2015 to iPhone but before was android till like the nexus 6 xl. Tried twice to go to android with the note 7 and the note 10 plus but honestly now I don’t really care for iMessage and want to be able to download apk movie and anime apps.
All my Apple products are 4-10 years old. My problem with switching is just having to replace each one is pricey. And Samsung only lets you trade in one tech product at a time. If I trade my phone and they give me discount on a watch. Take my watch and give me a bigger discount lol.
Takes way more than a few weeks to get used to a new phone much less to retrain your brain from one operating system to another. I use both iPhone (work phone) and android (S24 Ultra now) and I still find it hard sometimes going back and forth. I use my Android phone way more than my iPhone because I really only use text, email and the phone on my iPhone. I really think that nobody should switch from one to the other because they think one is better. I changed from iPhone (personal phone) to the Pixel 6 Pro in 2021 because I was bored and wanted a change (last Android before that was Note 4). I enjoyed my Pixel but this time I decided to try Samsung. Maybe next time I will go back to iPhone or maybe I will try a foldable. Point is that they are all great. If someone likes iPhone (or Android) and is not a tech nerd like me they should likely just stick with what they like because there is a definite learning curve when switching.
I have very little experience with Android. The most use I’ve had was a low end Nokia phone as a tertiary device so it’s safe to say I haven’t gotten much of the Android experience. I’m so used to the Apple experience and I really don’t have a problem with it. I’m not even bored with it. The question I ask myself is do I really want to try Samsung when I don’t even have any issue with Apple? A lot of people say it was a great and liberating experience but that’s mostly because they felt they were being limited by iPhones.
Honestly, I don’t think you should feel the need to switch just because. As a tech enthusiast and reviewer, these phones are getting to good and upgrades aren’t as big as they used to be so it’s been nice testing out a different phone to expand my knowledge.
@@camonly849 True. I’m not really fond of customization. I use my iPhone very passively, meaning I just use it for FB, IG, RU-vid, movies, and utility apps. So even if I buy a Samsung S24 Ultra, I’m going to download those same apps that I already have on my iPhone and most likely not bother to explore any further. Of course I’m only saying all this because I don’t have an Android.
@@bumblehide1 It’s very similar but with many more options and tweaks if you want to try them. For me, the biggest attraction is the S-Pen. I just love the idea of having a built-in stylus and using it on a big-screen phone. I mainly had iPhones but also a couple of Galaxy Note phones, and the S-Pen is my favorite feature. It makes doing things like editing photos, selecting text infinitely easier and more precise.taking notes with it is awesome and using it as camera remote is super useful too
@@meteor1522 Sounds like a great device when used for work and productivity.. something I don’t really need YET. When that time comes, I’ll probably switch.
Great video, thanks for all the info! Currently using an iPhone 14 pro and an Apple Watch with cellular. It’s wonderful because I’m disabled by neurological conditions & started falling a lot (bad enough I ended up with a severe spine injury and spinal cord injury last year & needed neurosurgery). I’m left with severe nerve damage & weakness in both arms so I need to stay safe. Love that I can call for help from my watch & it’ll supposedly call for me if I can’t.. but I’m so over iPhones.. LOL it’s a whole thing 😂 quite the dilemma… My husband has the S24U and it’s AMAZING. My iPhone is dying & I need to go upgrade but I’m trying to decide if I stick with Apple and my watch.. which I’m still paying on.. or make the switch and just hope I can at least use the basic functions of the watch for awhile. I mainly use it for heart rate monitoring and to be able to get help when I fall or pass out. I’m so confused about what to do. I def want the S24U, just don’t know how badly it’ll affect the watch functionality without an iPhone to connect it to, and no one (even at Apple) can tell me exactly how it would work without an iPhone to update it etc. Sorry this is so long haha I’m a talker 😂
I've done exactly the same. Let me tell you ome thing, samsung android has really improved as compared to previous generations. Also the battery is good. But boy oh boy, iPhone just feel so premium. The speakers, ths software, the animations, the smooth touch experience. Everything feels so premium in iphone. The texts, the keyboard, the fonts. I mean I can write a whole paragraph on how iphone feels like I'm using a more premium phone. I really don't use the S pen. I sometimes use the 100x zoom on my device. But iphone is without a doubt a higher end phone company and samsung has really come near to competing iphones. The face ID on samsung is still not as good as iphone's. Just let me sleep.
Believe me shutter lag is not only big issue, it's dealbreaker. Gave up on Samsung after 7 years of using their flagships only. Blurry and unusable pics (no, none of the settings help) of moving subjects should be a big NO on premium devices. Samsungs camera software is light years behind it's competitors.
I switched a few months ago from the iphone 15 pro max , I am loving my S24 U. I haven't had any issues with shutter lag or moving subjects maybe they improved it? Iphone videos are a little better but photos are great. Best phone I have ever owned !
@@crBudgetWatches unfortunatelly, they did not fix it. Try taking a picture of kid or pet indoors, even with great light. Repeat the same in low light. And then compare to Iphone. People praising Samsung that works "shutter lag free" mostly a) don't even own one b) have low criteria when it comes to cameras and would be ok even with 5-6 years old midrangers
I switched from iphone 14 pro max...to the s24 plus! My only poblem is sending videos.....cause eveyone i know has an iphone and my videos are sent blurry!
S24 Ultra what the iphoneys don't have in 2024: MULTI-TASKING (hahahahahaahaha), multi-window, floating windows. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, S-Pen, DEX, KNOX, inscreen fingerprint scanner, file-manager, largest and best eco-system, SEVEN years of OS and security updates (Apple only 4-5), 5 x optical zoom with 50 MP lens, better screen, better battery (longer lasting), fast charging, fast wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, overall the beste camera setup, best speakers, best microphone, far better widgets, themes (Samsung Goodlock) et cetera et cetera.... What does Apple have to offer: rounded corners and uhm........ uhm.......Apple marketing..... uhm.....that's it folks.
Galaxy! Great video. Currently I’m using the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Honestly I’m bored with the iPhone so I bought the S24 Ultra. I’d love to see how well you like the Galaxy watch with the S24U in the 30 day review. I have and love the Apple Watch Ultra. Previously I was using the Galaxy 3 which was buggy but loved my S21 Ultra. The watch was primarily why I switched to Apple. I do like the Apple blue bubbles but that blue bubbles app worked well for me too. Looking forward to the next one. I have the same CC too. 😉
I recently switched to iPhone after using android for well since about 2012 and so far it’s a great experience with some hangups, I’m excited for the AI upgrades and Siri upgrades to this year. They are much needed. The S24 U , is leaving iPhone in the dust right now with all of the handy AI features. I would also love to see a much improved keyboard on iPhone!
@JonImperial I really love my s24 ultra! 🙌 Same here, I was deep in the Apple ecosystem and switching was hard because of the Apple watch ultra. ⌚️ I don't like the Samsung Watches at all😢 feels like I have a top tier smartphone and a medicore smartwatch. 🤔 Can you recommend the pixel watch 2 paired with ultra s24 ultra? #Android #SmartwatchDilemma #PixelWatch2
Well done @JonImperial ...will be interested to hear your 30day flex. I was (still) a huge Note fan and the #S24 Ultra is the device that brought me back.
@@JonImperial Honeymoon phase is a real thing with me when it come to Android… it’s fun for a month or two then you start to realize how much better everything works on Apple
Hello friends. I am an iPhone 15 pro max user. From the moment the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was introduced, I can't take my eyes off it, but I have a problem: I have unintentionally gathered the Apple ecosystem. Macook- apple watch- airpods... I really want to use Samsung galaxy s24 ultra, but how will I get out of this ecosystem... please give me ideas...😔😔🤕
@@JonImperial oh! Everything, 13 months of pure frustration, also Android and Windows go hand-in-hand, I don't need to buy "cloud", I just back everything up onto a flash memory, when I hook my Samsung S24 Ultra to my PC, it can do everything an Apple phone can and will never do with a PC, or if it does, it's just for "charging", can't transfer data at all. Nah thanks..........apple is just plain horrible and they want every single penny from you. Not gonna give them one ever!
I forgot to mention that I bought the phone on Black Friday 2022, and in Feb 2023 I had many frustrated moments with that phone that I threw it across the room on the concrete floor, I didn't care about the price os what it was, I just threw it, on the 5th time, the phone screen started to pop out on the bottom right hand corner, and days later I noticed a sweet smell, took the phone out of the case and noticed the screen, took it too apple and then they told me there were going to fix it, I said NO, just swap it for a new one, so after paying $100 to exchange it, I got the new one but I still wasn't happy with the phone and never was. I didn't throw it on the floor anymore but I was so, so, so, so happy the day I switched back to Android and the S24 Ultra is my first Samsung phone and what a great phone it is. Besides, there are so many features on the S24 Ultra that Apple will charge for it with their controlled apps. Imagine, you pay for the phone but something so simple like rejecting spam calls you have to pay an app but it's integrated on a Galaxy S24, ha!
My biggest problem with android phones is no matter how good the image is when you upload it to Social Media the image quality decrease especially in Facebook, Unlike with iOS it’s the same quality with the one in Gallery.
That is changing. Social media platforms are partnering with Samsung and Google to fix this issue. Android really does put its neck out for its users, pushing for an all-around better experience. They do listen and I appreciate that.
How did you find the change from Apple Watch to Galaxy Watch? I want to upgrade from iPhone 13 Pro Max to the S24 Ultra, and the only thing worrying me is the watch. I think the Apple Watch is just better. I’ve been using iPhones mostly but had a few Galaxy Notes too and love them, especially the S Pen!
Between the Apple Watch Ultra 2/Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the Airpods Pro 2/Buds 2 Pro, Apple just has the better hardware ecosystem. But between the S24U and 15PM, it's no contest the S24U wins hands down. And IMO One UI 6.1 is lightyears better than iOS 17. If I could somehow use the Watch Ultra 2 and the Airpods Pro 2 with my S24U, I would be in tech heaven, lol.
@@MrD1sturbed That’s what I thought too! But What stops you from using Airpods Pro with a Galaxy? I use my Airpods Pro with everything: Mac, iPhone, Windows PC, TV, and have zero issues. It’s just Bluetooth, and frankly, I see no difference between using it with Apple and non-Apple devices. I think the Watch is the only real problem. But I want the S24U so bad that I think I’ll have to cope with a less refined Galaxy watch.
I think Apple Watches just offers a smoother and cleaner experience. I'm still getting used to it, but I can tell the Apple Watch is more refined. Design wise, I am really loving the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
@@JonImperialit’s may be the same wallpaper but different resolution and on the Samsung’s screen you can see more darker part witch is not available for little 15 pro, look on the distance between the different colours and also you didn’t apply for extra brightness and that’s for about 1000 nit 😅
I love how the S24U looks but the 15PM still looks better overall, certainly the back of it anyway. Not the biggest fan of Samsung’s tower camera layout lol not that Apple’s is great but it looks better. Obviously this is all subjective
I just got my new galaxy s24 ultra coming from apple i got tired of all them updates they kept doin every time i looked around it destroyed my iPhone and at the point i was so done with apple they have to many bugs im sticking with samsung this is the best phone thats out so far i absolutely love it and i got it in titanium violet so beautiful
Would it be possible for you to make a comparison video of uploading story and post quality in Instagram for both videos and photos between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra? Samsung announced that they have done a partnership with insta for optimisation
That brightness isn't even close. The Samsung gets so much brighter in sunlight, it's really not a fair comparison. Just point a flashlight to the top of the phone (light sensor), you'll see the massive difference in brightness
Samsung's Modes and Routines are way more powerful than Apple's Shortcuts. Overall for multitasking and getting the job done Galaxy wins no doubt (iOS sucks). But the camera consistency of the iPhone, man, that's something next level. Samsung took blurry photos of pets and kids while Apple nails every scenario.
it's like going from a Mac to a Windows PC, no comparison, obviously you can do a lot more on the Windows PC than on a Mac, same with a Iphone to a Galaxy phone, android offers more than ios, where ios is basic and limited
The problem you will run into is the world outside the apple ecosystem. You can mirror alot of what apple does with whatsapp, if you have a windows machine link to windows... but if you use android and all your mates use imessage they wont switch to whatsapp or signal just for you, if you have macs you will lose on the windows sharing stuff which can be much faster than airdop..
I want to use the s24 ultra but I’m just to far into the apple eco system and every single person I talk is iPhone so there is no point to be that person with the green bubble. The videos and pic also take a hit. Once someone can figure to get them to work together I would probably always buy the Samsung phone. But overall look the iPhone is just so clean and proportional
I still need to test the cameras properly but things like AirDrop and iMessage hasn't big as big of a deal so far. Probably coz of BlueBubbles haha. 99% of my contacts are probably on iPhone. We'll see how this unfolds. 😊
It’s not just about FaceTime or airdrop or bubbles. If you have home pods. Mini or standard, if you have an apple watch, if you have AirPods, pro or standard, if you have iPad or Mac, there’s a lot more tech you need o replace than just getting a phone. Also I’d say if the best experience is via google apps, go for oneplus or pixel. Samsung AI is virtually all available on pixel.
@@camonly849totally different texting experience… one of the things that I truly missed when I tried switching to a Galaxy (Note 20 Ultra)… ended up selling it and went back to Apple
I think other creators do really try to switch for a long time until a new phone comes out. It's kind of necessary. Switching back and forth is a good way to judge the good and bad of each phone.
Love your review, but will be sticking to my iphone 13 pro max. Been in the apple ecosystem for years and change is not something I comfortable just yet. :-D
