Dear Serge, How many microfarads of capacitor do I have to use for 10A 270V active load ? I am trying to power my 2500w boiler with DC direct from PV panels. I destroyed 2 SSR relays so far. The relays are raited for 40A 400V DC. Nevertheless, they burned. I have no explanation why it happened. I planned to use 60A 600V SSR relay with IGBT transistor inside. I found this video, and I am hopeful that the capacitor will do the trick of sprakless switching off the circuit.
Dear Serge, in reference to your video on pf correction, you state by adding reactive power from capacitors neither motor noise, torque or power is unaffected. Shouldn't the torque and hence the power be increased by having less phase differance between volts & amps? Kind regards.
Technically you are correct, but without sophisticated equipment that would be difficult to demonstrate. I wanted to mainly focus on how Power factor correction can lower current draw and ease the burden on an electrical system
