John Allen's TImesaver is probably the best known switching puzzle. If you do not know it, there is tons of information on the internet.

I just found this layout, it is very interesting. I've always wanted a track but didn't have the money or space, but this is just perfect. One question: you have six cars on the track, most seem to use just five. I don't see any long sections, is this just an extra hard way to play it? Just made my layout on the SCRAM.info tool - also very cool. Tried your setup - took me over a hour...

Hi. Kind of. This little layout is intended to be like a Puzzle: You have to spot the cars in certain sequence previously determined by mean of it is called "A Switch List". It tries to reproduce basic real thing operations. For doing a more interesting challenge, most of the spot tracks has a precise length (i.e. for spoting 2, 3 or more cars) and simulate Freight Warehouses. Once you finish the job described on the Switch List, you start a new Switch List, but this time in order to assembly a new train. That means you have to spot all the cars that assemble this train on a certain track (almost always the Main Line, which is the longest straight track on the Timesaver). This way, the game started again endlessly !. This is the Basis. Hope this help you !. This is John from Santiago de Chile. South America. Cheers.

Hello. What type of couplers do you use, and what is the pin that you area using to uncouple?

I use Tillig couplers (www.tillig.com/eng/Produkte/produktinfo-08840.html). They actually are designed for TT gauge but with some filing they work well on N gauge. To uncouple I use a small magnet. Just holding it 1-2cm (about 1/2 an inch) above the couplers raises the hooks to uncouple the cars.

It's N-scale and easy to figure out. 80cm X 30cm?
