It certainly is, and hopefully I'll be back there soon. But this time on two wheels like RJ and not in a 12 mtr tourbus with passengers behind me. Driving up the Gotthard in rain and through very low cloud into beautiful sunshine at the top will always remain one of the most memorable days of my life behind the wheel. Looking down on the clouds without being sat in a plane is something else!
I currently have the 790 Duke as a demo for three days. It is truly a great performing bike. Enough power, light weight, great ergonomics and very cool features. And that standard exhaust sound so grunty and mean, i love it!! I have tested a couple nakeds in the past weeks including the 1100 Tuono, but after riding the 790 Duke I would definitely consider getting the Duke, because on public roads the power of the Duke is more than you´ll ever need. Great Video RJ! Cheers
Very nice. I just did a 10,000km trip to the top of Australia on a 990SMT. Found out about the new 790 engine after I got back. Looks like a pretty sweet thing. Keen to see how the 790Adventure is once it hits production.
Better don't let yourself get caught in Switzerland going 150 on an 80 road or your bike might get confiscated and you end in prison. 😉 They don't mess around there.
Too bad you're not joking... But honestly I can understand it. (a bit) A lot of people ride really badly. It encourages (me) to go more on the racetrack to unleash the beast. I always try to stay under ~110 so I atleast don't end up in prison... With enough corners it's still plenty quick. Ride safe and grüessli
You're so right. I'm living 7km from the Swiss border, and now i don't ride there anymore. They now give stupid fines to foreign riders with an old license (in France you get a license for life, no need to renew it), and still it's super strict for the rest as always... They don't want tourists or what ?
i live in Italy but some friends have taken it. If you go even just 10 km / h beyond the limits you will receive fines of 500-600 Swiss francs upwards (around 450-500 euros). If they stop you on the spot, you're sure they find something wrong. And if they will seize the bike you have to say bye bye to the bike. (In some cases they can sell it to the auction.) Crazy !! A friend just went there (we live really neat the border) and once he crossed the border he had to, obliged, participate in a course on road safety of 2 hours (with explanations with video projections etc) That's why I'm not going back to Switzerland anymore. There are very good passes in Dolomites too (Trentino) :)
10 km/h over the limit nets you the following fines: In a village 120 francs. Outside of villages 100 francs. On the highway 60 francs. the highest fine you can get without going to court for speeding is 260 francs for doing 25km/h over the limit on a highway.
Vexoro maybe those are the fines amount for Swiss citizens. I assure you I have seen with my eyes fines of 500 francs for 10 km/h over the limit. But maybe that's because if you are from foreign country they charge you extra costs .
No they charge exactly the same but if you're a bitch they will find some things and add to this and then it easy comes to that amount. But if you're nice and take the fault they aren't really that strict.
😀👍Fabulouly delicious video as usual RJ👌 Have just got one of these 790 Dukes. 🍊🏍 Gonna need a list of passes and roads buddy😂😄 ⛰🏞🛣 Been on a few in the Alps etc but always looking for more. 🐵 Look forward immensely to rest of this. As trailer is top notch. 👊
RJ, you should have said you was in Switzerland bro, i would have sorted you out some legendary roads and passes with private access only. we spoke on email about 2 months ago
the Missenden Flyer send over a couple of white vans for you to overtake? still you took the bulls by the horns eh? looks a great bike though! enjoying having it, how does she compere with Nuda? as I suppose that's the same class of bike to her, just a bit more updated? beautiful place, ride safe!
Hey mate, I looking at getting back into bikes. Want some like this but I wanna go to the alps on the odd occasions. I like the idea of something light and enjoyable. However does the bike suit to travelling? Looks like you can’t hold any panniers on it.
RJ...... did you ride the 790 Duke with panniers and/or luggage? If so how was it? I’m thinking of the 790 but want something that will tour a couple of times a year too.
Your dancing through those twisties is equally mesmerising as your filtering through the busy streets at home. Great! Looking forward to your videos. Thanks in advance RJ. ;)
for my feeling it is too much bass behind the exhaust in your video.... but don't care creat to see you on tour! sweet kisses from austria keep on doing maybe you have journey in austria it will be a pleasure to meet you
