Thurgau's canton capital is small in many ways and yet very big. On a weekend trip you will find small but fine museums about history, nature and culture, music events from intimate to the largest of its kind in all of Europe - the Openair Frauenfeld, you can catch picturesque views of the Thur and Seebach valley while hiking or pedaling, and enjoy yourself along the way an excellent glass of Thurgau organic wine, venture high up the Stählibuckturm or settle down for a tête-à-tête with popcorn-eating raccoons and goats.
Frauenfeld Castle is not only a landmark of the Thurgau capital, it also houses the Thurgau Historical Museum. Whether on your own, on a guided tour, on a digital scavenger hunt or in the escape room - Thurgau history can be discovered here. Two hundred meters further in the old town there are two more museums: the Thurgau Nature Museum and the Thurgau Museum of Archeology. Small but nice and repeatedly award-winning, they delight with exciting temporary exhibitions, song tours, museum podcasts and a variety of events. The best thing about it: all three museums are free.
