Klöntalersee 🌄🌿 Switzerland's Hidden Gem in the Glarus Alps
Klöntalersee was formed during the last Ice Age by glacial activity, with its waters now fed by mountain streams. It is known for its crystal-clear, emerald-green waters.
In 19th century the artificial damn was build which expanded the lake. This damn is one of the oldest reservoir in Switzerland generating hydroelectric power.
Many consider Klöntalersee one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland! A two-hour walk 🥾 along its shores offers wonderful views of the Silberen mountain and on a nice day - you get to see the mirror like reflection of the mountains on the water. A view often captured by Swiss painter Albert Anker.
Unlike many other lakes in Switzerland, camping is allowed at Klöntalersee ⛺
SUP fans get their money's worth on this lake 🏄♂️
