@bigmurph to make it short, Marty never said solos should die, his words was twisted, He loves solo's so its kinda weird for him that a statement such as that came from him and I believe guitar world/ guitar magazine, (forgot it, my bad), stated that Marty said the afformentioned statement, but it is not. Unforntunately the Released news was AI Generated.
@@18hot30 This information is only half true and could be dangerously misinterpreted. Ola read in a previous SWOLA a Guitar World article, supposedly from an interview with Marty Friedman, in which he said solos should die a slow and painful death, stating "his" distate for shred solos without melody or that don't serve the song. While Ola agreed to some degree with the article, he noticed hints of sensationalism from the way it was worded. However Marty contacted Ola through text and on the removed segment of SWOLA 175, stating he never said any of that in the supposed interview and hypothesized they ran some kind of A.I. generated text for the Guitar World article, while also declaring solos are his "bread and butter" and complementing by saying he'd never downplay or consider stupid certain guitar techniques or styles of solos. Only encouraging music-making, positivity for music in general as a means to have fun and being passionate about it.
This is not true at all ahaha, Ola showed distain to 'Marty's' statement, he said he likes more melodic solo's yeah, but he absolutely didn't agree on the slow and painful death notion@@18hot30
Seen PanterA this pass wknd in Nashville and Memphis. When he played the solo at the end of Floods I started tearing up and some tear drops fell down my face. I know it wasn't Dime, but it's the next best thing I'll ever get.

Well I’m happy to have seen the original and the update. It helps outline the goal of this channel which I already respect but this, this is just more to respect. I would certainly want to handle my own battle with AI posing as me in private. Good on you ola!!!
Just tuned in to hear the statement and hear that awesome thrashy intro music again. I'd like to get rid of the beef between kerry King and Dave Lombardo as well if I could. Those click bait headlines sensationalising the negativity is putting me off listening to Kerry's new material and I don't want any excuses to hate Kerry or Dave.
I fucking love the Melvins. They are my favorite band of all time. I've seen them 5 times, recorded them four of those times I think. Some of the shows I went to were featured in the Melvins vs MPLS. (They didn't use my recordings haha). This was my first time recording a live show. In addition to recording the full 09-18-2000 show, I also recorded the soundcheck. I listened to my recording of the soundcheck and lowered my mic levels and the recording turned out great! FANTÔMAS fucking rules.
I don't get what was wrong with the last video unless guitar world is disputing Marty's rebuttal which potentially discredits his recent denial. Hmmmmmmm.
I agree, providing a platform for Marty to say his side is not the same as endorsing either side...not sure if the re-upload was necessary but in this day and age it is just easier to avoid conflict altogether rather than actually talking and working towards understanding. (Sad but true)
@@OlaEnglund Your second channel still has the video up with the segment about him saying solos should die. In my opinion Marty deserves at least his side of the story told and a complete call video staying up on the second channel as well.

Clearly the issue was Marty claiming it was AI. Most likely just was embarassed by the quote or misremembered or misspoke. GW probably has evidence that those words came from Marty himself in some fashion, would be my guess.
I don't see how Marty's comments harmed anyone. You gave him a platform to defend himself from lies an otherwise should have been a reputable website was spreading about him, as well as correct a news story that you helped spread those lies with (which they have only partially correct btw)... Unless I'm missing something, to me removing it harms him more than anything but whatever, it's your show.
GW published a nonsense article. Marty came on & refuted it as nonsense & probably AI. My guess is GW & Marty are now involved in some sort of legal dispute & Ola decided to have nothing to do with it.
I missed the interview. Was the interview taken out because Marty doubled down by explaining why he said the guitar solo should die but decided later to say Guitar World purposefully took him out of context? I haven't seen any news that Marty is suing them for printing misinformation...

Sounds like possible legal issues between Marty and Guitar World. I think you're making a smart decision staying out of it. No need for inviting drama into your life that doesn't involve you.
