Kirk himself has said he's not leaving ESP & will work with both brands. ESP will keep making his metal guitars with the great artwork he loves & Gibson will do Gibson/Epiphone things like versions of Greeny & his Black 70s Flying V. No Krammer as that's ESP wheelhouse.
@snakeplissken6649
@snakeplissken6649 3 года назад
@Halli Day Hits maybe but remember all of Metallica's best music was made with pre esp guitars which he didn't start using until 1987. He was known for modding his guitars tho so very few of his non ESPs are standard guitars. Which is probably why he's staying with them too.
@johnhareiel5118
@johnhareiel5118 3 года назад
@@snakeplissken6649 Agreed. I've bought a Gibson V just to mod like the one he had. It was faded blackish. I repainted it to high gloss black n changed the electronics plus EMG's, new chrome tuners n pickguard- truss rod cover. Both him and James used modded Gibsons. So yea, ESP equals sellout years while vs Gibson Legacy Years

Wasn't Kramer part of Gibson?
@snakeplissken6649
@snakeplissken6649 3 года назад
@@Cthulhu_Awaken Yep still is but Kramer makes ESP style guitars so since they're keeping that all with ESP they are only making Gibson & Epiphone guitars.
@briangreene851

The ESPs are his workhorse stage guitars all speced out with Floyd's and EMGs etc. Kirk and James use all kinds of guitars and gear to record. I don't think we're gonna see a Kirk Hammett Gibson that looks anything like his ESP signatures. I'm expecting Vs, LPs etc. I also expect him use some Gibson's on stage. Now Gibson has promised something we've never seen before from Kirks Gibson's. Can't wait to see that 🤘

Hello Ola, Just a few ideas, maybe, for future topics... - Besides the Katana- Air, I don't recall anything from you about wireless systems. - Clearly, you use a bit of drum-software but I've always found it a bit intimidating. Perhaps, unless you have already, you could walk us through creating a drum-track to accommodate something (like your SWOLA intro, perhaps). -Can you possibly speak to your opinions/experiences with vintage-gear? (IE: PAF pickups, old + expensive axes and/or any time you may have played the gear that belonged to a particularly famous-artist) -Finally, I'd love to hear more about your experiences with S.F.U. Thanks for ALL your & Louise's efforts! They make the world a much better place! -Tom

Well Ola, you could have a video series based around tuning in all the sounds of metal starting with Black Sabbath, and then every genre that came after that, like The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Groove Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and you could play riffs from each era in the specific defining tone of that genre. Just a thought man. Take Care Ola.

You couldn't have picked better gear to get started. If you can manage private instruction, do it. I've met many amazing guitar players that are self taught but having someone show you techniques for practice, which is not the most exciting use of your time in the begining, will pay off in the future. Also having counter point from an instructor will broaden the spectrum of influence and make you more versatile which means you become more desirable to more bands. If it's something you really felt captivated by and have determination you can excell beyond a lazy fucker like myself who might have picked it up quickly. I was completely enthralled by music and was making guitars from my Constructs(like a plastic tinker toy or erector set we had in the 80's) and from cardboard and shit like that. My Dad happened to have a guitar and amp he had since middle school that he didn't really take to. I received it at age nine and it's the only thing I've ever really been good at or gave me something I was able to hold onto when things have gotten dark that I could use to both create and build or to exorcise and destroy. Music has incredible power of influence as an art form but is satisfying personally even if you never showcase it to anyone else. Good luck.

Kirk gets dragged by players a lot. I think he’s important to the overall chemistry of that band. You need one “nice-guy” to balance out Jame’s & Larz’ various neurosis. Sure, there are better players, but I don’t think he deserves the ass-kicking he gets from bedroom-guys.

Kirk Hammett, imo, the most suited guitar player for Metallica. Sure, there are thousand people that play better than him, but you can't deny his playing in Metallica fits really well. The bluesy lick, pentatonic and sometimes Phrygian Dominant on some certain tracks. He is just the best for me.

Ola Video Idea: Dialing in guitar tones of your favorite guitar players. Ola, you have a very good ear and I think it would be cool if you did a video where you start from scratch and dial in a specific Dimebag guitar tone (example: Floods solo guitar tone). You could poll RU-vid for which guitar tone people want next. I'm sure you'll get a flood of comments asking for various guitar tones. I for one would love to see how you'd dial in the guitar tone for the "Lines in The Sand" solo. I know it'll be impossible to get the exact tone, but it'd be nice know what you hear in terms of gain, EQ, reverb, delay, etc.

The Mark Morton is very cool, but, if the Jeff Loomis Jackson Kelly is ANYTHING like the Schecter JL - 7, it's absolutely worth the effort! It should come with his signature Seymour Duncan pickups, which are screaming hot, with chunky, and thick low end, yet the highs are so crisp, and they deliver knife edge sharp transients. My JL - 7 has the Vampyre Red Swamp Ash, and is from the final year with Schecter (that's why it has his signature Duncans).

Alexis Marshall(Daughters vocalist) just recently released a fucking immaculate solo album. It's unnerving and calming as well, but a lot more of a delve into his mind at time. Also features a lot of industrial/experimental and avant garde flavors. As well as featuring his girlfriend LINGUA IGNOTA(or Kristen Hayter), who also just came out with an amazing new album that is unlike anything I've ever heard. It's her "calmest" album to date, but still insanely heavy and dark for the style. But she features some screaming and singing, as well as piano parts on Alexis Marshall's new album. Cannot recommend either of them enough. LINGUA IGNOTA also has some very beautiful and heavy work that is more on the metal side of things, but still very much her own lane. Opera and classical influences on top of the heavy and avant garde style, very well spoken and creates vivid imagery with her work. It's just visceral, I love it

Maybe trying weird guitar stuff and taking us along for the ride, whether good or terrible. Like, see if you can blend two amps that are very opposed to each other to try and achieve a new sound that's awesome, or at least has a new flavor, kinda like the laney/valve state combo that they did for in flames or 5150/valvestate, things like that. Making a song that has only wammy barred notes? (Having to guess where the notes are, and if they're not the right notes, bend them to where they sound cool.) Idk. I know it's hard to come up with ideas. And these could easily be too intensive.

Hi Ola, a suggestion for future topic. Since headless guitars are more popular/practical than ever how about a comparison between the top builders Kiesel, Strandberg, Mayones, Skervesen, ect.... It would help potential 1st time buyers of a headless make a more educated decision if they could see side by side the differences or similarities, build quality and options, but most of all tone. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your ideas, your channel is inspiring.

I would love Ola's Adventures as it's own video series. I love seeing Sweden through the eyes of a local. And eventually expand that back out to other countries when you can travel again, like your old travel & touring vlogs. I mean, name another musician on youtube that has a video about herding goats with their family.

-Swola58 entries were awesome! The simple drums really makes the riffs come through -Demon King are a great band! They're signed to The Artisan Era run by one of the guitarists of Demon King/Inferi and a whole bunch of other bands, Malcolm Pugh. Literally every band on that record label is brilliant, worth giving the time to and checking out. -For the 8:44 section, could you include links in the description to those articles so we could check out too? Demon king is amazing, Matt brown the guitarist is a really cool dude. Also artisan era is definitely one of the best up and coming labels. Malchom is doing great things

Hola, Ola! I think a cool video idea would be a riff dissection. Each video, you find a riff you like that you never learned to play, and make a video of yourself learning it. After, your fans and viewers can upload videos of themselves learning or playing it. I think its a cool idea that'll not only be fun, but also encourage more viewers to maybe participate, and everyone to improve as players. Either way - thanks for the content over the years, and just generally for being yourself. 🤘😑🤘

I personally really liked the video when you received your amp switch. It was good to hear the difference between the amps. Maybe you can do some videos like that one. Otherwise I enjoy your content a lot ! Thank you ! \m/

Hi Ola , I enjoyed today's SWOLA .Here's a suggestion you might consider . It would be really cool to have celebrity " Jam with Ola " as well as the same opportunity given to a viewer , perhaps determined by a " Riff Challenge " vote off which could also make it more interesting and fun ! Please do continue the bi weekly riff challenge , also I sent you a PM about demoing an amplifier ( MI Amplification ) on your channel , which I can arrange to have sent to you . Please inform me if you're interested as I'm certain , many of your viewers would appreciate hearing this amp live' . Cheers , Cliff

Idea… do some new deep dive videos. You’ve got some great recording vids from years ago, maybe an update with new learned techniques and new equipment? Maybe a deep dive on dialing in a tone, like starting on a real amp, getting the tone, and then replicating it in a modeler/plugin?

The song Master of puppets was tuned down and played at a slower speed then sped up. Flemming Rasmussen admitted this in an interview years ago. Not sure if they did this with other songs but would not be surprised.

I would love to see some more mixing/tracking/recording content. I know you're not a sound engineer but I think that might even be a good thing for viewers who are looking for simple solutions/techniques.

Video recommendation: How about a series following your writing and recording process. One assumes you will release another record some year, it would be cool to follow along with some/all of the making of it. We could comment, contribute thoughts and ideas, talk shit as the internet does, all the fun things. In theory this builds anticipation within your youtube audience for whenever you release it at some point down the road. Idk, that's as far as I thought it through. Edit: Obviously you would use some editing and holding back in places where you didn't want us to hear everything, or exactly as it will end up, or a completed song. But the process, with fan interaction and possibly some input along the way, could be a lot of fun.

Hi Ola. I do agree in reduce the amount of videos on your channel. I like the format of SWO. Thats my favorite. The guitar that i chose is Jeff Loomis. I love JP also. Keep up the excelent work man. Cheers. P.S. i love your solo album.

My favorite is always the gear reviews and going through settings on floor processors. I really value your opinions on things like the Fractal processors, Boss GT1000, etc.
