I highly recommend using Flame Detonation for most PvP situations. Being able to trigger Assault Plastique damage early is a great asset against Sorcs using their god bubble, and the area explosion deals substantial damage to other enemies, including stealth classes. Flushing stealthers by accident is always funny. I also like taking Pull and Pummel over Storm. Charging into a group of enemies is an easy way to get removed from the fight; using Harpoon to pull the enemy healer out to 40 meters and getting a free stun out of it really kicks Vanguard up to the next level. Remove defenders, pull attackers out of position, just generally be a nightmare to play against. You have enough single-target damage to wipe out basically anyone in a straight 1v1. Pull and Pummel lets you initiative 1v1s much easier. It's a strong choice that I think you glossed over a bit in this guide. Otherwise, very cool guide. Additionally, there is a bug that Vanguard can abuse for very high damage. Using Cell Burst at 3 stacks will grant 3 stacks of High Yield Explosives. Using Cell Burst again at 4 stacks will grant an extra 4 stacks. Do this. A lot. You will turn enemy gamers to paste. It's a meme.
Hey man, I have one single piece of input. When saying the "1, 2, 3" etc. it would be easier for visual learners to see the things you're using when saying that perhaps in sequential order. For example: if you had them lined-up on your bars in the sequence of an opener, then you keep your priority bar up, you could visually display both the opener, and the priority bar (which you already do) both at once, which would make this even easier to digest. And would likely prevent you needing to explain it in as great of detail as we could simply see the opener priority on the bar. Thanks!! Love the vids- helps me play the game without being trash.
Yeah I am still trying to figure out @dax what is 1/2/3/4? I know that it's GUT 1st, then STOCK STRIKE, but then does it go Tactical Surge or Explosive Surge. I also think Mark doesn't tell us everything, because he's trying to win in rated and unrated BGs. I do appreciate his help though. But really, 1/2/3 needs to be explained in detail.
Once again, very helpfull ! Thanks a lot ! I see 1 or 2 new things since this 7.0.2 for example flak shell has disappeared replaced by another powerfull aoe tool ^^ Anyway, i'll have now to get used to tactics to rock and roll in pvp as you say :)
Hey Mark, love you videos. So this video was a little confusing when you were mentioning the rotation. You were saying, "...one, two, three, four, one, two, etc...". Were you meaning Assault plactic, Stock Strike, Cell burst, High Impact Bolt, Hammer shot, and Tactical Surge? I am having trouble with this rotation trying to get it to parse higher than 18K.. Please help?
hi really nice guide. Really helped me improve my own dps soldier. Just out of curiosity what weapon are you using? It looks really nice and i kinda wanna use it :D
would anyone here or Mark, recommend tactics over plasmatech for solo pve? Plasmatech feels weird to me but maybe I am doing something wrong since i never played it from level 1. i took vanguard as a secondary on my operator because i was bored.
oh hi mark. i am a fury mara/deception sin main who press everything that glows and its going pretty well. counting to 4 is not something im very good at but maybe i'll give it a shot in the future thanks
Damn...I was really hoping Tac/Vanguard would be a fully ranged dps... Need something that keeps me away from certain bosses but is also mobile to avoid AOE drops (unlike sniper) Wishful thinking...
All this 1 2 3 4 refresh at about 13 min is confusing. Should have just called out abilities used instead of 1234. You are throwing out too much information to really correlate 1234 to exact abilities. You do this in all your videos and its kind of frustrating. I know a year later and you quit playing but your videos are one of a kind in SWTOR and one of few rotation prio videos you can find on all classes. So clarification would be nicer.
