this was probably one of the best explanations ive ever seen in an mmo for a rotation. nicely done. the repetition throughout your video was actually really helpful with so many cogs moving. ive never played this class, looking forward to it!
Thank you for this video. I'm a returning player from years ago when Carnage was king and never touched fury. To top it off I couldn't find any up to date guides :) Legend
Now that's some good pointers to a nice and comfortable rotation. I realise what i've been doing wrong with this spec. I do hope that with this changes to my rotation i'll break the 25.5k barier that i'm stuck on. Thank you!
Thank you for explaining it to me. This is the only spec in the game that I never got around to play in my entire 10 year swtor carrier. Now it is made simple and I am definitely taking it for a spin.
Very nicely done! I too have discovered that for the moment Fury appears to be the "fotm" for highest DPS assuming you know how to rock it. Have played since launch & marauder/sent have never been a main 'go-to' for playing but, have been playing more of since 7.0 went live. I have been exploring with Tertiary crossing in typical stat alignment for discipline common drops in altering #s for higher yields in some perspectives. Another words not only using what drops specifically for a marauder. Unsure of the value in doing this but have been curious in the differing damage output. Happy Hunting & Thanks again for another great video!!
Will there be a updated video? I noticed Defensive Roll is no longer in the ability tree, and i saw in 7.1 they worked on this class a little bit. After coming back to the game, im trying to figure out what is the best tree and this is confusing
Lol your pupper is adorable! Thanks for the continued guides and saving us poor peeps lots of unneeded headaches. P.s. hope you give your pup a good belly scratch.
I opted for the Enrage Crush tactical as a side piece for when I grind dailies and for PvP, does much better damage and gets through the kobs quicker than a single bleed effect on one person
I don't know who you are but for me it is clear that you understand verry well how the character are functioning, reducing the complex things to simple things and, after that, explaining the complex in simple. Thank you, you are an inspiration and you help a lot , keep doing it. There is no need to search anything else after I watch your videos. Thanks! And....I love your dog, I have a beagle too :)
Really good guide. Thank you. Only issue I am really seeing is this rotation/build you run Rage negative and whole rotation fails after first Scream due to all the nerfs and changes this spec got hit with in 7.1 due to being absolutely broken at 7.0 launch. Now that's not really an issue as *most* of the time you can just Channel Hatred ahead of time pre-pull/fight, but if you're doing content where you arent in a position to build fury ahead of time, like FP's/PvP where everyone goes ham and there's no setup time OR its a LONG fight, then I found putting Cloak of Pain as its off the GCD, at the beginning of the rotation and picking Rumination(43) and Cloak of Retribution(64) completely negates the need for either 5 rage or 30 stacks of fury pre-fight and/or running Rage negative on the 2nd flip of the rotation and the rotation can roll indefinitely. I mean doing this gives you a DPS hit, but I rather know that my rotation is solid and 100% reliable no matter what is happening. Thats just me.
Great video like usual biggs! just recently picked up madness sorc, solely because of your video... Any chance of getting your cut to pieces build into an guide? looks super fun and as returning noob would greatly appreciate one since your videos make things super duper easy to understand.
I'm just coming back to the game and I need to level from 70-80 still, is this a good spec for that or should I just stick with Carnage like I was using a couple years ago last time I played? Appreciate the guides, really well presented and easy to follow! Oh, and let your poor dog have some toys man! lol
Hi Mark. Great video - A fantastic breakdown with detailed explanations. Question for you. Do you pop Berserk as soon as it's available? Each of your (relatively) fixed rotations seem to have Berserk in different locations. In some cases it was already available but not used, other times you seem to pop it as soon as it became available.
Thanks for your guides. I recently came back to SWTOR and they are very helpful. I have one question to this guide. Why dont you use Furious Strike before Raging burst for the extra 15 % Crit dmg bonus? Is there any reason? THX
Furious Discovery only gives 6 fury now instead of 10, is there something I should add to the rotation to add that extra little bit to keep it continuous? It hangs up a little now for me at least
Yes,I needed this,I'm going sentinel concentration as my main combat class and tbh I'm very satisfied on the dps its doing,I've check a site and apparently concentration sentinel has the top dps now,I hope they don't nerf it again lol😂. Btw thanks a lot for this guide man
Love your builds and rotations. Need to do an updated one for Fury for 7.2. For the life of me I can't figure out how you got your damage at level 327 up to 50k. I am a level 334 and my damage is just over 28k. I have accuracy, alacrity where they are suppose to be and the rest in crit which is at 36.48%. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for all you do.
Is this build/rotation still accurate with 7.1 changes? Noticed a few things like ability tree doesn't match. Better to get mastery/power augments after 110% accuracy or crit/power augments?
Hey man, I watched a lot of your guides, they’ve been very helpful. I do have a question tho please. I have been looking online and keep seeing conflicting info regarding Alacrity. You say 7.2% or above however I’ve seen people say to have it above 7.6%? Which one is it please? Also, I just got my 320 gear and augments and actually managed to hit all the stats and even have 4 augments in crit, is that normal as I saw people apparently struggling to hit the stats but I managed to hit everything with just blue augments?
Just came back to the game after a few years off. My main has always been a Marauder, and from what I've read the Fury build is the best. Is this true? I do about 50% pvp. I also saw Carnage was good as well.
I really wish if you could make a Marauder Carnage/Sentinel Combat one for PVE/SOLO/PVP guide of 7.0. There is none yet in the net. So it will be much appreciated. Thanks for this one and for your hard work and dedication.
My boy Ragequitting put together a video guide that might be able to get you rolling in the right direction while I still crank through mine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tqg6C1NTryY.html
Ok, but If I take Subjugate for leveling how the rotation change now? Normally (in your rotation above) you change exchange Burst with Smash. However if you take Subjugate you know how TWO AOE attacks, and only one can crit after Leap and both are spenders so I guess fury/rage generation would be altered with Subjugate taken. Could you let me know how would rotation work for more AOE-built Mara. For solo PvE it's actually more effective to have more AOE.
hey man love the vid just following some of the points in this vid nearly doubled my damage but there is one issue. I'm following the rotation to the letter as far as I can tell but I cant seem to build the fury at the same rate or I do but I run out of rage to quickly any idea why that might be happening?
Wouldn't it be better to use Furious Strike before Burst in the BSS section? I know after the first rotation you'll always kinda have a Strike before the Burst but in the segment at the beginning of combat Strike before Burst seems to do more damage, or am I wrong?
so the issue I ran into when putting furious strike first in the opener is that it creates a gap GCG after our leap > ravage > strike where raging burst isn't off of cooldown yet, so you have to use another strike, but then you run out of rage. You could fill with assault, but that would shame the ancestors.
@@Biggsgaming Ah now that you mention it, when I've been trying to figure a new rotation I was very close to yours but I often encountered that problem but didn't realize I could just switch the 2. You trade a little less burst in the first segment against not having to do a filler that drags down your sustained DPS. Btw correct me if I'm wrong but don't you build enough Fury in the first 2 segments that you don't need to do the pre combat chargeup? That's been the biggest issue I had when I first tried the class long ago with the vulkk guide, you always had to charge before a fight against anything that didn't jsut die from you looking angry at it EDIT: I tested it and it works even without charging up. the first berserk is delayed until ravage but I still parsed 23.5k on a dummy with a still-gearing character
Please try Carnage. I play V Combat/Carnage years now, despite it being bottom tier, but I thoroughly enjoy it. The thing is, not many people cover it, and I can't find a decent guide to it, as most people misunderstand how to use it, or use it for PvP. Due to 3% Alacrity boost, it is the only spec I tried to run in MM flashpoints as 15.5% alacrity, as Zen guild perk is active there and I am torn between high crit and high alacrity, plus we have the cooldown reset of Gore/Lance, so we spam it, but I am looking for ideal parse guides.
Thanks so much dude. I have used your work as a guideline to get started, and keep referring back. I bought the deluxe package and am enjoying things. I know I need to make as many characters as possible while I can and want to. Started with a Sage (lvl 6), then found your content, then went with a scoundrel (lvl 3), then a shadow (18), (subbed) then operative (7), and made a Marauder today. Hard for me to get into guns, and that tech side. I still barely have any kind of clue what I am doing, but it is fun! Not my first MMO either so what you are saying makes perfect sense. Seems doable, so I am going to try to focus on learning rotations as I go. Albeit it is tough figuring out what to use when I am leveling. Any adivce there? I have a leap attack now I need to get used to.
This is a good video, but my autism makes it really hard to figure this out without it being written down. If there was even just one image on this video just describing the rotation somehow this video would be just good to me, but probably the best I've seen. :D Anyway, keep going, and do consider doing that in the future some of us have a hard time.
Leap (leap) Battering Assault Force Crush Raging Burst (B) Furious Strike (S) Force Scream (S) Obliterate (Leap) Ravage Viscious Slash Raging Burst (B) Furious Srike (S) Viscious Slash (S) Through Berserk in there at various places (probably needs confirming as to where)
So i tried this rotation at lvl 53 and replacing the lvl 60 ability with vicious slash twice when scream is on cd. but if i'm rage starved i can't finish the first part of the rotation cuz i run out of rage. EDIT. I need Gravity vortex so i can have the rage to use vicious slash. got it.
maybe not the right place to ask this, but does anyone have a gear planner that takes teh guess work out of blending the right augments and stims so mongs like me dont have to guess at it?
Hey I'm having issues with the rotation. I wrote it down and Ive been following it as you've suggested but it's missing 2 rage and 10-12 fury in the 2nd BSS I'll post the rotation below and mark my area of issue with ~~. Build Rage Leap(1st Prio:Force Charge | 2nd Prio/Middle Rotation:Obliterate) Battering Assault Crush BSS Burst(Raging Burst and then Berserk) Furious Strike Force (S)cream Building Fury Leap(Obliterate) Ravage Vicious Slash BSS Burst(Raging Burst and Then Berserk) ~~I am missing 2 rage and 10-12 fury and thus unable to Berserk and your rotation seems to die~~ Furious Strike Vicious Slash I thought it was a timing thing that I wasnt doing it quick enough but I've been trying over and over am I missing a filler some where or is my rotation incorrect? Thanks Edit: It might be helpful to know Im a Fresh lvl 80 with no tactical using your build but my ilvl is 269 but I thiiink my stats are sufficient if they weigh in on this at all.
So I went in and tested a fair bit on a dummy, I even removed all of my gear/legendries and the rotation still functioned as expected, so I don't believe it's a gearing issue. Looking at what you posted, we're not using berserk in that second BSS window, only in the first BSS window, so that should solve that issue. The only thing that's confusing me is how you're running out of rage going into that second furious strike. There was only one way I was able to replicate this issue, and that was by using regular assault during the "building rage" phase instead of battering assault. Can you double check to make sure that you're hitting Battering Assault there instead of regular Assault in the Building Rage phase? (the fact that they share similar names is a nightmare) If that doesn't solve the issue, I'm happy to hop into a screen share and take a look at what might be going caddywompus.
@@Biggsgaming So I've corrected my rotation to remove the Berserk from the 2nd BSS. The Rotation now works! The problem with 2 missing rage happens in the Building Fury (BF) phase the Vicious Slash spends 2 rage. It isn't really a problem as it seems the rotation is mostly sustainable without it. The only way I see having capped rage into the the furious strike is to not spend the BF Vicious Slash. Which is a DPS loss but give a lot more wiggle room because it seems that, unlike fury, rage degrades even while spending and after -3 Rage the rotation will eventually die. Where as not spending the BF Vicious Slash kind of keeps you rage filled. This may also be my gearing but I'm not positive. If it's not gear I can fill with a standard assault but I think by the time I'd run into that being an issue the target would be dead or the rotation would have restarted regardless. I just noticed that I poorly worded my original post probably due to my ignorance of the rotation. The way I understood your video originally was that fury and rage would be capped at the same time so when, in my original incorrect rotation, I was going activate Berserk in the 2nd BSS phase and I lacked the fury to do so I also saw I was -2 Rage. Which, I now know, never mattered to begin with. I appreciate the help!
This rotation works great, however I've noticed that since the 7.0.1 patch that I've lost a significant amount of DPS on this rotation, nothing in the patch notes about it. Has anyone else noticed this? I was hitting 27-28k sustained and now its more like 25k. Silent nerf?
Bro same!! The patch notes even Said that they were raising the stat caps across all content and I'm like "yay character is more powerful now!" Then I get into the game and my abilities are weak asf? I agree with you ut has to be some sort of silent nerf.
There was actually a mention of it in the Patch Notes, just not obvjous. So Berserk now only gives Rage, no more autocrit. If you want crits, you gotta pick the 3 choices at lv 34. Before, you have the double autocrit: one from Berserk, the other from lv 34 choices. A bit BS I feel like, we maras are born to do damages.
My boy Ragequitting put together a video guide that might be able to get you rolling in the right direction while I still crank through mine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tqg6C1NTryY.html
Just Played v7.0 for first time...Looks like the "Furious Power" damage-multiplier from v6.0 is completely gone _(which is fine, not exactly a mechanic i wuz married to)_ Also, I can't find the area-stun...and Ctrl-G no longer instantly pulls up your GroupFinder menu :( Sucks...Feels like they buffed some passive numbers to compensate for your lost stuns...but playing still FEELS like it's BROKEN when you hit a button and nothing happens for a lost ability...It's pretty much what I had predicted when reading the 7.0 pre-release descriptions which was the main reason why I just quit SWTOR the moment 7.0 dropped. Yes, they boosted your passives in order to remove a lot of the nuance from playing Fury, but I'd already done the work and sunk the time to master the nuanced system, so now it just feels broken when I hit a button for a given situation and nothing happens. Plus, the inability to execute "vicious throw" on a target above 30% health or whatever now makes it feel like there's a long BORING gap in my rotation. It's kinda that feeling you only had in 6.0 during those RARE instances when in the middle-of-a-fight you got surprised by not having enough rage or fury to continue and so needed to reset your rotation. Except now that feels less like an error on my part committed and instead now it feels like a something standard baked-in to the design point of combat...They removed the feeling of continuous flow; the nuance; that great spread of abilities available for any situation...Yes, it was hard to master but highly rewarding to play. But now, hey, *they gave you MORE PASSIVES!!! Yay!! Passive play is exactly what players always wanted to feel!!!*
@@gamingdrengr8904 yeh I just use the rotation from 6.0 with some twist: use ravage, dual saber throw and vicious slash as filler. This is because with the talent Obliterate builds 6 additional Fury, that Berserk button glows even faster.
With 330 blue mods and 330 purple enhancements plus purple 328 relics, 330 ear piece and purple augments im getting around 24-25k on ship dummy. 20-22k in vet ops. I am missing 5% crit buff from legacy upgrades still though and 5% endurance buff. As well as missing smaller buffs from companion conversation legacy unlocks.
Don't have any experience with juggs but from what data was collected by starparse it's the highest parsing spec and I made about 23k sustained DPS on a dummy with it (no adrenals or other buffs, just pure rotation)
Ya I was considering adding marauder to my jugg, but in 10 years I’ve never really played Mara/sent so in the end I just added assassin for the stealth and since I already known how to play it. Plus I’m just a filthy casual now so it doesn’t even matter for dailies and stuff.
This has been a good video, so thank you for your explanation.....but what a pain this is. Managing two resources and memorizing multiple rotations, imho, makes this less fun. Also, I imagine that this is less useful for PvE since targets will most likely die well before you even get through all of these horrendous rotations. I don't know why Bioware designed a melee class like this.
I wouldn't agree with the rotation, we want the raging burst to do as much dmg as possible. Furious strike and force crush both increase the dmg of raging burst. Also using the berserk just before raging burst will increase the dmg even more. I am 326, no augments cause I'm poor as hell and raging burst hits for 65-75k if we use all dmg modifiers before bursting, so my start looks like this, get berserk before the fight, leap, force crush, battering assault, furious strike, berserk, raging burst.
So I like where your head's at, but there are a few tweaks. For one, the furious strike buff lasts throughout the rotation, so after the first cycle of BSS, the buff will always be applied. We also don't want to lose out on the damage buff applied by raging burst, which only lasts for a few GCDs. Additionally, the "super crit" provided by buffing raging burst is about a 15% buff to damage, which doesn't compare with the 60% buff to our strike damage. It's better to go back to back with massive burst and strike crits than it is to have just one slightly larger burst crit. If you're doing solo content, your rotation should be enough to blow up any regular or silver mob, maybe even a gold. However, if you're going into flashpoints, operations, warzones or boss fight where you're going to fill through the entire rotation, you'll notice a significant increase by using burst > berserk > strike. The back to back auto-crits provide a catastrophic amount of damage.
i wish this game didn't relay on rotations. I have a seriously complex job offline, the online I play a bunch of other games. I just want to play swtor to have fun in the star wars universe. I love the video for the build but I never remember the rest. I just have too much from my RL job getting in the way.
can you just show us a rotaion? and the skill tree? you dont need to tell us every skill and what it does bc we simply dont care we just want a rotaion to play the game..
Some people do want that though, being all whiny won’t change that. There are plenty of places you can find just those things so go somewhere else and stop being a baby.
