Don’t get me wrong I love that they finally released a version of this on their album years later but I really wish they would’ve recorded it back then their vocals was soooooo beautiful on this one
OMG I JUST discovered that they covered this song and I’m straight up obsessed! 😭 We need this version on wax.....it has to be in the archives somewhere.
This song is available in full length on the "I Missed Us" Target version album from SWV. It is still not as smooth as this New York Undercover version, but I digress.
@@bos77 yes studio version is nothing like the New York undercover version I agree I had to make my own mp3 of this version because of how smooth it is!
As a native of Brooklyn every woman I meet from NYC reminds me of SWV. The vibe, swag, sexy, the rawness is superb. This time was also after the late 80s the very best of Black culture. 💯
I remember the first time I saw this performance on a New York Undercover episode that I happened to be tapping; and damn! I would re play this snippet over and over to hear this flawless rendition and I searched for the version on the NYUC soundtrack that later came out to no avail and tried to find the full version online to no avail. This totally should have been a single, I would have bought this ten times over.
Come on y’all this a lip sync so that means there’s a FULL studio version sitting around somewhere Someone must know someone who can hook us mega fans up
SWV& Mtume version hit different and should have been released. Producers tried to recreate it on I Missed US album but falls short!!! Shoutout to the originals Switch 💯
In the key of A-flat (my most favorite key in the circle of fifths), even though the song is in the key of A, mainly because this show is shown on Calle 13, a channel in Europe, which explains the PAL sound (an octave higher than the NTSC version in North America).
Yo I like this "new york undercover" version the best. Do you guys know if this full version is available in audio? Also, are these the same lyrics? When Coko starts with "I...know you won't regret it", on the later album version I don't believe I heard her sing the "I" part? I heard her say "Don't you regret it", but I could be mistaken? Either way, this version slaps! We need that! 💯
@Walker Horton yeah but it’s not as dope as they would have sang it back then in the prime of their lives m. The energy and the harmony was so sweet vibrant back then.
James Mtume is The Man! He arranged this “SWITCH” classic for SWV and every cover song sung at “Natalie’s “ on New York Undercover, before those white executives at FOX TV, fu$ked up this show and gentrified NYUC!! Damn, I miss the 1990s!!
@@ihavealotofnames thanks for the link but im saying recorded this when they were younger like the 90s i heard the one from this album this was recorded not very long ago....its nice but not the same sound n range from the 90s.
My grandmother and I would watch New York undercover faithfully and I remember watching this episode and falling in love with the song not knowing where it came from at the time and now it’s literally one of my favorites
This is actually my first time hearing LeeLee sing. first time seeing them all have a solo part and now I see how they got their name. Their voices are beautiful! So disappointing that they didn’t do this more.
I’m sorry they played lelee and yah cuz they can singggggggh to period like the whole group was fire I hate that the industry put the group against each other
This was a pleasant surprise, I also found that they really made this years later or they perform this years later and I think the Essence fest. They did a good job
Ugh man these were the good ole days every week waiting for ny undercover. I pbly was like 5 or 6 but my granny and mom would watch it and as yall know it was a lesson to b learned after the episode went off i appreciated them. I cant remember if they had a music guest every episode but this is one of the things i miss about tv i grew up on. And i agree i wish SWV would have released this or put it on 1 of their cds. They had a lead on this song😍😍
Awww the good ol' days of watching the performances on New York Undercover!! My Mom and I were glued to the TV! I remember this episode well with SWV @ the famous Natalie's night club!
