Hey HW...thanks for the shout out!!!! Nice ride around the city! Sue and I love to bike around town. We are looking forward to cooler & dryer weather here so that we can get out more. Great views of the city from Observatory Hill. Glad to see you guys have bike lanes, we don't around our town and have to dodge cars. Good work out for you. Always love the look of your Harbour. You guys are doing well with the Olympics! Congrats! Have a great weekend!
Great vid and journey HW. Some tricky twists and turns in fact was getting a little dizzy just watching. We love cycling and great to see that part of Syd’s cycle ways, a must do. Loved the terrace homes too in Pyrmont. Will stick this one in my fav’s. 😊P
@@logocafe7624 Thanks man. When I decided to go for a ride that day. I had no idea it would last over an hour on film. Appreciate you watching such a long vid. My fav bit was the College Street strip, aided by those green lights.
That is a wonderful video, HW. I really enjoyed it, particularly from the bike rider's perspective. Many familiar places here. It really makes me miss my home town. I pine after Sydney the way one would pine over a woman. That sounds a bit pathetic, I know. I still have your seven videos to catch up on, one a day for 7 days, which you filmed recently. Thanks for this bike riding video....really well filmed.
@@glenemma1 Yeh watched it back myself the other day with nectar in hand. Surprisingly I enjoyed it. I thought it would be too long when I first uploaded it. But it provided plenty to look at. Appreciate you getting through it. Hope you enjoy the 7 day series when you get to it. HW 🙏
Excellent - I've been waiting for a video like this! Cycling in Sydney will be a LOT more practical once some of the projects that are currently underway or are planned to be built finally go into service, particularly the busy sections of Oxford Street, Castlereagh Street, King Street, the Inner West Greenway and eventually Parramatta Road. If they could finally get that Glebe Island Bridge under the Anzac Bridge open for cycling that would be a bit of a game-changer with the new Metro opening as it also connects to the new Rozelle Parklands cycleways. Still a LOT to do but these bits will be big!
I'm pretty impressed by pedestrian awareness of the cycle lanes especially given the fact that Sydney is a major city. If that was here, in my experience, they walk in the bicycle lanes with scant regard to cyclists. Or maybe you just caught them on a good day🤔. Thanks for another great video HW.
So little time , so many vids of yours yet to watch so i chose the bike ride one, so nice seeing Sydney by bike again. Omg I remember the days that all family and friends would come to see you off or welcome you at the airport .😅 Since I travel the world all the time for work it is like taking the bus and you kinda forget that this is special being in different countries and getting to know different cultures. You start taking things for granted unfortunately.Retiring soon I am starting to realize this and will travel differently, enjoy it more. So thanks for that reminder and this vid of beautiful Sydney by bike HW. Ps I was proud of 🇦🇺 when it comes to the Olympics, congrats….we didn’t do bad ourselves here in the 🇳🇱 for being such a tiny country 🎉🎉🎉
@@brenl5727 The Golden days of Airline travel. It’s very much like a bus these days, you are 100% correct. I enjoyed the bike ride, appreciate you watching such a long vid. We were 3rd on the tally when I did that vid, but then the Japanese snuck up on us. We had to settle for 4th in the end. That terrific cyclist of yours broke my heart a few times. They were much needed Golds for us to stay ahead of Japan. Oh well. Congrats to you guys. Have a good week.
@@hwtours yeah well let’s be proud of our country’s achievements lol. You have a great week also and can’t wait to watch your other vids that are waiting on me and those to come in the future!. Btw is the contribution to your nectars now only via the thank you button on RU-vid?
Hi HW, Thank you for an interesting video. I did notice that there were too many traffic lights in the city. The noise from the traffic is loud. Is there a limit on the noise level? I love the view of Sydney, from a bicycle's view. Very relaxing to watch. Have a good weekend. 🙏👍
@@carollizzi6494 The hilly roads of Sydney were originally built for horse and carriage. The cars took over and ruled ever since. Retro fitting the bike lanes later was never going to be easy. Likewise the lightrail took a long time to plan and construct. Yes there are noise rules for cars. The odd hotted up car might get pulled over by the police.
Mate it used to be SO. MUCH. WORSE. Now at least George Street and some sections of adjoining streets like Margaret Street and the whole Circular Quay area are closed to through traffic, then you have places like Barangaroo which has virtually no traffic now. There is still a lot more to do, and hopefully with the new Metro opening they will seize the initiative especially if they finally decide to do something with Parramatta Road, but in comparison to the bad old days it's remarkable how much better it is now.
@@BigBlueMan118 💯. I remember the old days when George Street was choked with cars and buses. But I’ll say it again. Still not enough cycleways. Need more East/West tracks shielded from traffic.
@@hwtours I think they do plan on closing Hunter Street to traffic and pedestrianising it when the new Metro West line opens but that isn't until 2030. But talking about east-west routes: for me the biggest one is Park Street. There shouldn't be anywhere near so much traffic on Park Street going through the city, especially since there will is a big entrance to the new NW-SW Metro, the tram line and the train line there and it goes right past QVB and Town Hall. They should force most of the traffic into the Cross City Tunnel or down Palmer Street into the Harbour Tunnel and Cahill Expressway. Then make Park Street only 20kmh and give all the space to bus and cycling, all the way up towards Kings Cross connecting with Bourke Street cycleway.
