February 2018 update: I am depressed...10 years since I was in Sydney. and I have never been back. Time goes quick! . The good news is this is my first youtube film to get 100 000 views.

I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. I did the bridge climb in October 2001 when travelling in Australia on my own...one of the most awesome experiences of my life. I would recommend anyone visiting Sydney to do the bridge climb. It's expensive, but it's a once in a lifetime experience.

I climbed this bridge with my brother back in '03, and it was an amazing experience, we climbed it in the evening, where we could see the harbor with all the lights. I just wish they would let us bring our own cameras...just have something to secure them. I would take hundreds of photos and numerous videos...the view is breathtaking!

Simon, thanks for this video. Just got back from Sydney and was in the bay several times and wanted to do the bridge walk but never had time. Your video really shows how the walk up the bridge is , the description and details make me feel like I made the walk. Our trip was incredible and we will go back some day and do more touring. Good Day

Thank you for posting this video. I find it very informative. I have been considering the bridge climb for a couple of years now but I wasn't sure how it would be. This video is very helpful. Thank you. And your photos at the top of the bridge are great!

Thanks Mary. I wish I could take credit for photos - but cameras are not allowed on the Climb - the staff took them! This film has just had its 7th birthday - the years fly by and this looks like my one and only trip to Sydney. I would do the climb if you get the chance....Simon

Do it! Sydney is well worth visiting.

Hi Wendy. It brings tears to my eyes when I look at this video - 5 years have flown by and I have not done anything as thrilling as this since....and indeed this is my most "successful" video. So I do recommend the climb to you. As for me....winter is coming in England.....I have nothing exciting to look forward to except trudging mindlessly round shopping centres. Take care...off for therapy now! Simon

I have a healthy respect for heights too, I couldn't fault the safety system. It was hot that day and I wish i put more sunscreen on.

~ I heard that the bridges has hinges on both sides. During hot days, the steel expands and the bridge can get as high as 1 foot taller.

Thanks for the informative video. Wife and I are thinking of doing it in a few weeks time when we visit Sydney. The price has gone up in the last 7 years though, it is now about £135 per person.

+Richard Taylor : Richard: I thought paying £10 for "The Force Awakens" was steep. £135 is a lot and East coast Australia is expensive as a holiday destination in general. I would treat yourselves especially if the weather is as good as the day I went up. I did enjoy it! Simon

@simplesi13 thanks I am very excited at doing this, if I can handle this, then next attempt maybe the Sydney Tower Skywalk but for now this and the observation deck will be enough for one day in Sydney :)

@gezzer20 I have a major problem with heights but i managed to climb to the top.... Just need some balls.. In the end i was crawling up to the top but it was an experience i would not of missed for the world. If you get the chance to do it you really should. The guides are amazing

I think going up the spine of the bridge sounds more fun than climbing stairs - better views maybe?

@siciliaussieguy it's extremely safe. you are connected to the handrails by cables the whole time. there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of something going wrong. even your hat and everything are attached so nothing can fall. best experience ever, do it!

People are unable to walk on the top its sister bridge in the UK as we have a path on the side and I certainly won't walk over it and I certainly wouldn't walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Hoping to do this on dec 14th 2012 Tho Unsure if to do express climb or the bridgeclimb. As far as I can tell one goes on the top rounder beams the other goes along bottom half and then over the top n down Im confused which to talk.. The video via bridgeclimb site explains this.. Stil not sure which to book
@SimonLawrie
@SimonLawrie 12 лет назад
I had a look at this on the website....it sounds like the "express" has less stops to the top. I think the climb I did with plenty of stops to admire the view is best. I see the ticket prices start from £140/$218 dollars - to me that's a lot. I think I paid £80 in 2008. I would want my money's worth and not rush to the top - 10 minutes at the top - then straight down. Also it may be hot in December.

@trunksGav
@trunksGav 12 лет назад
your vid-of people walking up the top beams think that is the bridgeclimb it goes all way up to the top across then back down other side, the express goes a bit lower and the up a great long staircase to the top and then back down the same side. Just not sure which to choose Thjat video on thier site by Dylan shows a map of the direction it goes i paused n xzoom in on video Its jsut ahrd to decide what climb to choose now If I have any mnoey left over Id do it again at night but he only option
