I see it in many videos. Its caused by the lights inside buildings etc flashing at a high frequency that humans cant pickup unless looking via camera. Good to hear it fixed tho
@@RoryDing i havent seen in other videos only this one 😊. Infact if your camera is decent enough go out at dark and point it at a traffic light and it will be flickering very very fast.
Life gets easier once you realize your in it alone and need to make it by any means. I have been wasting my money 💰 trading alone how can I get an expert who will help me trade?
It takes a certain kind of determination and blind faith to sell everything you have and use the money to invest in a volatile cryptocurrency. However, determination and blind faith are sometimes exactly what you need to have to become a millionaire.
Hi Rory, it was great to see your review. We are from the UK and stayed here for 6 nights in 2018 and had a lovely view of everything and the big cruise ships. We were also meant to stay last November now looking to 2023.
Another great review. I really enjoy the detail you put into these videos such as stores, fast food etc that are close by. When we are all able to move around a bit more in the near future, there are a few places I have on my bucket list now, thanks to you 🙂
My god - Thirsty Bird. Even though I live in Sydney, and I love it too, I am outside the 10km lockdown and this hurts - a lot. Glad you like it as much as we do - I quite like the Stinger burger too. Great room review by the way. Have stayed there a while back after a big night.
This is a fabulous review! Thanks Rory! I absolutely LOVE that you say “goodnight” and “good morning” in your videos. It really makes the viewer feel like they are part of the stay.
"I care alot about what l eat" 🍗🍗🍟🍟😆 love it!! That chicken did look so darn good though. Wow $122 in central Sydney plus breakfast buffet and a gym honestly you couldn't beat that, and the views are sensational day or night! Your meticulous review and the lamp gave me Anthony vibes from Hotel Impossible in a good way. Thanks Rory you are an absolute stand out on YT. 👍
I found your videos recently and they are really amazing! Very thorough views and very relaxed approach. I am enjoying the food reviews (ordering as much as you want!) They videos have been helping me to wind down and relax for sleep in the evening (thank you for that). Keep up the good work.
Hi Rory. It was great to meet you earlier today at the Darwin city library. I've been subscribed to your channel since last year when you still had less than 1k subscribers. Great hotel review and thoroughly detailed. Pending covid restrictions, my wife and I are booked to travel to Sydney in August and I must try the Thirsty Bird chicken when I'm there. Keep up the great work with your flight, train and hotel reviews, I always enjoy watching them!
Hey! Thank you so much for coming to the library to say hi!! I know you have subscribed for a long time! I didn’t know it was you earlier! And yeah thirsty bird is a must try! 😁 Hopefully covid in Sydney would be under control by then! 🤞🤞
@@RoryDing Have you stayed at Crowne plaza in Newcastle NSW? I think they may have been taken over by Rydges now. Probably the best IHG hotel I've stayed at. The rest are fairly dated unfortunately.
Wow what good value the hotel was. I often stay at the holiday Inn Melbourne which is just as good if not better than the Sydney property for location in the CBD And a short walk away from southern cross station. Love to see you review that hotel as well. Keep up the good work, love your videos.
thank you thank you thank you! I'll be staying at in the same hotel on my visit to Sydney. Wow, d view is fantastic and d buffet breakfast is pretty good!
That view is stunning. An amazing hotel with the train view too. Thirsty Bird is something I must try. Amazing video! I think I saw you last week, don't know though.
Great stuff Rory! V jealous of the Thirsty Bird meal its a great spot! Loving the train reviews, just doiscovered your channel as looking at a trip once lock down ends. Keep it coming and thats a great review on the Travelodge, great views. Cheers!
I've lived in 3 different places in the Elizabeth Bay area from ages 4-17 (since my father migrated us here) and so I have walked to Kings Cross station countless of times. Very nostalgic, ofc it's all different now, but I have to say not an area I care to visit again lol.
Excellent review Rory, anyone would think you've been reviewing hotels for years. You've discovered a great hotel here, i've never heard of it...will be staying here on my next trip to Sydney.
Nice review. I stayed there on NYE about 15 years ago, but my view was not as good as yours (as prices for prime view rooms were high for peak season). Overall, I had a satisfactory stay all the same.
Great review. As a local in the area.. the Holiday Inn and the Larmont are the last remaining hotels. At one time there were many hotels in Potts Point / Kings Cross - now most converted to apartments. Also love Thirsty Bird, though you've eaten there far more than me - like a poster above The Stinger is my favourite. For those who don't know the area, it's a real mix and one of the highest density areas in Sydney. Many great restaurants and cafes - Bistro Rex, Cho Cho San, Macleay Street Bistro, Fei Jai, Room 10, Glider, Cafe dela Fontaine among my faves.
Yes, what you're saying is quite true about the dwindling number of proper hotels there. I only just realized that now after you mentioned it. When I started travelling to Sydney (Potts Point) on a regular basis in the early 2000s, there seemed to be heaps of hotels around back then.
@@shaunyip2153 Even more if you go back further. Chevron (Hilton)/ParkRoyal, Gazebo, Sebel Townhouse, Sheraton, Top of the Cross/Town, Hyatt, Rex, Hampton Court and most recently The Crest
Love the video. The creaky doors and flickering lights in the bathroom is very eerie! Hahahahaha... Yes I agree, the location is awesome! Like you, fried chicken is my kryptonite. If I had it my way, I'd eat them every day! Taking mental note of Thirsty Bird! I cannot even remember when was the last time I actually saw a buffet brekky. Glad to see holiday Inn still provides one. Room with brekky at Stamford Sydney Airport meant a paper bag with apple and cereal. Urgh...
I really like the hotel reviews, along with train and plane reviews also; and really enjoy the little side trips to food locations. You do a very very thorough and concise job in all your reviews and you have become quite the professional :-) Amazing. God bless you bro. Take it easy.
What solid review of Holiday Inn and that magnificent city view especially at night :), have to check out thirsty bird once this lockdown is over at the Cross. Love your work as always.
Watch this one after dinner so didn't get hungry 😂😂 really enjoy your videos would love a restaurant or Cafe review. As always great informative fun video thank youuuuuu looking forward to your next one.
Another option to save a few dollars (not as much of a saving as the 400 bus) is to break the journey in Mascot, using two Opal/contactless cards. Use the first card to ride from the airport to Mascot and tap out. Then tap in using your second card to continue to your destination. Fares to Kings Cross end up being around $5 for the bus and train combo, $12 for the two trains, and $18 for the single train trip. Probably not worth the hassle for most people, but it's an option.
That Chicken dinner looked delicious, definitely a heart-stopper with so many carbs though !🤣 The room looks great value for the price you paid. Breakfast was an added bonus I think to be free with the room. Probably I think due to covid-19. Such uncertain times for any hotel.
Great views! But the creaky door reminded me of Bates Motel. Bit of a rough old joint but Covid is probably affecting quality. But the price is excellent!
I’d certainly stay there because of this review, well done Rory ! Also, could you please review/mention disabled facilities that you encounter on your travels, the information would be of great help to me and others.
Hi thank you for the suggestion. I have filmed the accessible toilets on my future train reviews. And as mentioned in the video, this hotel has 3 accessible rooms, and the lift from the train station to the hotel is on the same side of the road so it should be easy to get to. I’ll pay more attention on accessible facilities in the future. 😊
Never been to Australia...but I have done enough research on the Kings Cross Station to know if you stay at the Holiday Inn, use the Victoria St exit. Then you don't need to cross another intersection.
Thank you for this great review, Rory. I decided to stay at this hotel purely based on your review, it was excellent! It is worth noting, which I’m not sure whether you did, but it is a dog friendly hotel. I will be doing a review of this hotel myself soon so if you like I can put the link in these comments for people to check out the hotel from the point of you of someone who travels with a service dog.
**2023 update** I'm back here again, thanks so much for this video! Just letting you know that they have removed their pet friendly status but under Australian law all guide, hearing and other kinds of service dogs are still permitted.
Nice review, Rory. Good hotel for sure. But I wish management would overhaul/fix their dodgy guest keycard system as the cards get de-magnetized so easily and often! This happens virtually every time I stay there, but never at other hotels I stay at.
I always book direct with the hotel so I get IHG points, I also get late check out where available typically 2pm and a welcome drink or extra points. Booking by th It’d parties you don’t get these benefits.
There is another Holiday Inn Hotel. That is in Newcastle. Do you remember it? I like your vids! I will give this video you gone from Holiday Inn Potts Point a 10/10.
Hi Rory. This is a very comprehensive review and that view is amazing. I would be quite happy to sit by that window for hours. I would be happier if I could also hear the trains but I know most people would prefer the quiet. When covid is no longer a threat I would like to spend a weekend there, even though I live in Sydney.
Have been to any interstate and I have seen in movies-South Indian & Hollywood.. Nice.. Sydney looks beautiful... Very expensive compared to Melbourne.. Cheers, Pradeep Rajjkumar Pollachi,Tamilnadu.
At 1:40, you are wrong, 40mins is quite a long commute, taking a bus from the airport is not worth it. I would suggest taking the train from the airport itself.
Between Canberra and Sydney Rex is much cheaper than Qantas Otherwise Rex is cheaper than Qantas on other routes and have free snacks during flight (virgin no longer provides snacks in economy)
I would never, ever book anything through a third party, except maybe Qantas Frequent Flyer to get points, but then only for major hotel chains. The reason being that, in the case of booking a hotel through Qantas, the rate is usually higher and Qantas do not pay the hotel until after the stay. In the case of individually owned or franchise hotels, Qantas may also charge the hotel going rate to the customer, then only pays the hotel a rate after Qantas takes their cut. I have always found that booking a room direct, even with major chains, I can sometimes get a better rate or equal and/or upgrade or inclusions, like drinks or breakfast. Third party websites are a blight on the travel scene.
Well Qantas is always more expensive cuz they give you Qantas points. What you stated is true in some instances but for IHG hotels such as hotel indigo, intercontinental or holiday inn it’s actually cheaper to book through booking.com I used to work at an ihg hotel, booking direct is more expensive
@@RoryDing Years ago, for a fee, IHG had a rewards programme called Priority Privilege that gave you good vouchers, that programme changed over a period of time and now it just has a points for stay system. I always booked direct with IHG and always got a good deal. I had my 50th birthday on the rooftop of the Old Sydney Holiday Inn that is no longer in the IHG group. Thanks for the review though.
I just checked the price at this property on 23 July. King room harbour view on booking.com is $143 On ihg website is $182 I always sticked to booking.com when I booked ihg unless I got employee rate back then. Again maybe for higher tier ihg member you might get free room upgrade or something but as I don’t have any points with them I find booking through booking.com is cheaper
@@RoryDing well obviously you stayed there as that was the point of the video but I assumed (probably wrongly) that regardless of if you were staying there or not you would need to scan in to the restaurant in the event that you or someone else there at the time had COVID as not everyone that stays in hotels uses the in hotel restaurant but as it was nearly 2 months ago now it's a moot point so never mind
You can see there’s a laundry form in the wardrobe. If you really need to do it you can just fill out the form, and give it to them. I’d usually just find a laundromat nearby which would be much cheaper.
