Vlog 1592
Museum Rare Sightings
Due to trackwork Tanagaras and Oscars were running via the City Circle.
This video does not feature Oscars as there was a lengthy wait for the next service.
However it does feature a few Tangara sets.

Paul Newman Phil has filmed it before. Sometimes if trackwork was affecting the intercity platforms at Central, they had intercity services run by V or H Sets go to North Sydney or around the City Circle before returning to Central for the next intercity service.

@nicholetheotter1957
@nicholetheotter1957 4 года назад
Wasup Doc That’s because Tangara gangways are very shaky from all that wear and tear of 20+ years in service. There is actually one set that has a newer style of gangway, which is set number T65.

Wonder why Tangara’s r so rare...r they slowly being placed out of service, I hope not they have the best sounds, from doors to motion of the train (start up and slowly down). I hope they keep them in service
@stevenwb
@stevenwb 4 года назад
Annaliese Wyld they are. They’re no where from getting pulled out of service. In fact, they’re refreshing it by adding new destos on the train (Tangara technology upgrade). They still have at least another decade or two. It’s just that tangaras don’t operate on sector 1 or 2. They run on T1 line and exclusively on T4 line. IMO, I don’t really like them, not as comfortable as Waratah or millenniums and just feel not as safe.
@nicholetheotter1957
@nicholetheotter1957 4 года назад
Annaliese Wyld There are no plans to get rid of Tangaras anytime soon. Keep in mind that they still have a lot of life left in them, and that they are progressively upgrading and replacing older components in order to fit in with newer fleets like the Waratah. These include CCTV, DVA’s, PIDS screens, improved airconditioning, LED destos and more. With all the refurbishment they’ve had over the years, they will be lasting around another 20 years in regular service.
@nicholetheotter1957
@nicholetheotter1957 4 года назад
777 Lover Sector 1 is the T4 line. They also run Sector 3, the T1/T9 lines. They were only removed from Sector 2 service in 2012-2013 as other fleets are unable to run the T4 line.

@@stevenwb true in regard to safety although the upgrades will help. the windows are not clear so hard to see out and for people at stations hard to see in as well. they do have large vestibule areas though for quicker in and out at stations

Interesting I first saw the Tangaras when I was s youngster growing up in Melbourne. My sister would take it I believe from Flinders st platform 4 or 5 towards Hawthorne station. Whilst I would get off platform 1 and get the tram to North Melbourne. I would alway ask her what it was like to ride a double decker train never got around to riding in one till many years later when I came to Sydney for a visit and then when I finally moved up. Many times it was coupled to I think a Comeng train if I'm remembering right. I think there was only one Melbourne was apparently going double decker but my line the Epping Hurstbridge line now Epping is the Mernda line? had too low of bridges I believe so they couldn't run under them, I think between Jolimont and West Richmond. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I ve seen them tangaras a lot at the cabramatta line.& before way back.i seen them operating from the city to Liverpool. & Liverpool to the city via Bankstown. they just been around these areas than I can remember. & i can remember now why They scrapped too many of the tangaras cause of the timetable that ended their sector operation & shifted for use only on illawarra lines. But I do miss them still.its just special that tangara's was running on the weekend.

Code Nation Channel As far as I was aware, those rare sight Tangaras were not running on the T3 Bankstown Line that weekend. They did run out on the T2 line to Homebush/Liverpool and the T8 line to Revesby/East Hills. Funnily enough, the T4 line that they mostly run was also undergoing trackwork with the Waterfall/Cronulla services starting/ending at North Sydney due to the Eastern Suburbs tunnels being closed.

Brian McGovern No, but he’s learned a lot about the system. He’s been into trains since a very young age, and he used to often see trains go past as a kid. He started learning about each kind of Sydney train fleet around 2006, when he had an experience with a guard at Bondi Junction who was interested in his trainspotting activity and explained to him what each type of fleet was. I know he mentioned that experience in some of his previous videos.
